Fudgy Gluten Free Brownies

3 EASY DESSERT RECIPES | gluten dairy free

These gluten free and vegan brownies are insanely fudgy. And surprisingly, theyre filled with nutrient dense whole foods! Theyve got almond butter and applesauce to make them extra gooey, then theyre topped with chopped almonds and chocolate chips!

After theyre baked, pop them in the refrigerator to get them extra chewy. The secret to making them into one of our gluten free desserts: a touch of coconut flour. Take it from one of our readers: Im somewhat of a brownie snob. These are better than any brownie recipe Ive tried, classic or adapted. Simply delicious!

Notes On Ingredients For This Flourless Chocolate Cake:

  • Chocolate: The chocolate is the star of this recipe, so I recommend using a good one! Some people like using bittersweet chocolate, but I really prefer semi-sweet chocolate. You can chop your own bars of chocolate or use semi-sweet chocolate chips like I did. I make with Guittard semi-sweet chocolate chips.
  • Butter: I prefer using salted butter. It has better flavor.
  • Eggs: There is no subbing the eggs in this theyre important for giving this lift, and the incredible texture. Youll be separating yolks and egg whites. I prefer using this egg separator to perfectly separate eggs without breaking any yolks or getting any shells in there. Ive had this one for probably 20 years, so its worth investing in one!
  • Sugar: Just plain white sugar is all you need for this!

See, just 4 simple ingredients for the flourless cake portion! You probably have all of these on hand already too!

For the whipping cream, youll want to grab a quart of heavy whipping cream, some powdered sugar and some pure vanilla extract.

Ive been eyeing this flourless black forest cake from my friend Jeanine for YEARS and definitely think it would impress guests and be delicious too! Make Yummy Treats Gluten

If you follow a gluten-free diet, whether due to an allergy, intolerance, celiac disease, or a personal choice, you know that making homemade options to fit your needs can be time consuming, while buying premade options for the convenience can be expensive. Add to that: Sometimes gluten-free recipes just dont taste as good as the traditional versions especially when it comes to desserts.

But making your own gluten-free and delicious dessert doesnt have to be difficult. With a few simple ingredient swaps, you can transform many favorites into gluten-free treats youll love.

A couple of general tips:

  • The main source of gluten in most baked goods is flour. But before you simply swap out all-purpose flour for a gluten-free alternative, be aware it isnt always a straightforward switch. Gluten provides structure to baked goods, and removing it can change the texture and appearance of a recipe. To help avoid this, try adding xanthan gum or an egg into a recipe when swapping all-purpose flour for gluten-free all-purpose flour.
  • If you want to use almond flour, you may need to slightly increase the rising agent to accommodate almond flours heavier weight. You may also need to increase the amount of almond flour or reduce the liquid in the recipe since this flour naturally contains more moisture than an all-purpose flour does.

Easy Gluten Free Desserts

Years before I started blogging, when I first started baking gluten free treats for a friend of mine, the recipes I found were completely overwhelming.

Special flours, starches, and gums, careful treatment of the doughs, delicate baking instructions, and confusing instructions, all combined to make me toss more than a few cookies into the trash.

I promise you that NONE of these recipes are like that. These are some of the easiest gluten free desserts we make and every last one of them can be made with ingredients that are likely already in your pantry. No specialty flours, tools, or skills required!

Many times, when you need a gluten free dessert, its for a dinner guest or a friend, and it just doesnt make sense to buy several different specialty flours just to make a single recipe.

On the other hand, if you plan to do more than the occasional gluten free baked goods, I have a huge index of gluten free sweets and treats that we love. Try the simple recipes below, and then dive on in and pick up the flours for the rest of them!

This collection of desserts is perfect for any occasion a special dinner or a gift for a friend. I bake gluten free at least 90% of the time and I can happily promise you that no one will realize they are eating a gluten free treat. Several of these recipes are also naturally diary free as well. Enjoy!

How To Make The Best Gluten Free Desserts

3 Ingredient Chocolate Pecan Fudge (Easy, Paleo, Vegan ...

While many of these homemade recipes incorporate these tips, here is a handy list on how to make any recipe taste better gluten free!

  • Mix the batter longer While this may toughen regular baked goods, it helps aerate the batter, making a lighter crumb with better structure.
  • Let it rest Since GF flours do not absorb liquids well, resting the batter before baking gives the starches time to hydrate and soften. Cover the bowl and let it rest 15-30 minutes before baking.
  • Dont underbake GF baked goods take longer to bake since moisture isnt absorbed well. Even if it looks done from the outside, test the inside with something larger than a toothpick, like a butter knife.

Skillet Chocolate Chip Almond Flour Cookies

And last but certainly not least in our list of gluten free desserts: our famous skillet cookie! This one has been made and loved by many. The trick to this one is almond flour, which makes the cookie turn out chewy, caramely, and dense like a blondie.

Since the dough base is primarily almonds, its got more nutrients than the typical refined white flour cookie. And most importantly for us, its incredibly simple: mix all ingredients in a bowl, dump it in a skillet, and bake. You cant get much easier than that!
