Most Trader Joes pizza crusts are vegan. Their gluten-free crust contains milk and their sprouted crust contains honeybut all other varieties I could find and check were fully vegan.

I had to utilize a mix of different websites to find the ingredients for these Trader Joes crusts, so its possible that one or more are outdated. Be sure to double-check the ingredients yourself in the store if you want to be certain. But heres what I found:

Is Trader Joes Pizza Dough Vegan?

A Pizza Crust With Great Ingredients

Caulipower Three Cheese Cauliflower Crust Pizza (10.9 oz ...

I found cauliflower pizza crust at Trader Joes recently and decided to give it a go finally. I have been so hesitant to try cauliflower pizza crust after all, its a vegetable! It goes against everything I know and love about pizza.

On the whole, I was very pleasantly surprised! It is a thicker crust that you must bake for 10 minutes on each side. The trick is to make sure it gets crisp enough on both sides. Then you add your toppings of choice and broil until the cheese melts. I have had the crust crispy enough as well as on the softer side.

Crispy is my jam.

I will eat it again.

The ingredients are simple.

  • Salt
  • May contain traces of milk

The cornstarch and potato starch help with texture and crunch. You will be able to taste cauliflower to a small degree. It is not overpowering and masks easily with sauce and toppings.

YUM!!! And just to convince you further

Here is a picture of the box. Of course, I want to be sure you can find this gluten free cauliflower pizza crust that is worth buying.

For The Love Of Toppings

Now is the time to make a majestic tower of toppings on your pizza. The amount of toppings in the ingredient list would be perfect for a large cookie sheet sized pizza. Since I make a personal sized pizza, I use about half of those toppings. Of course, I am usually making it at the same time that Im making the regular pizza for my fellasso it all works out!

My official topping philosophy is to ensure that there is a little bit of everything in each bite. Here is the order of yum:

  • Pizza sauce Spread the sauce toward the edges of the crust. For my personal sized pizza, I use about 1/4 of a jar of sauce. If you are a saucy person, save any remaining sauce to warm up and use a dipping sauce.
  • Pepperoni Completely cover the pizza with a layer of pepperoni.
  • Cheese Lightly sprinkle some cheese.
  • More Pepperoni Put more pepperoni evenly on top of the pizza.
  • Mushrooms Spread evenly around the pizza.
  • Green Peppers Give each mushroom a green pepper friend.
  • More Cheese Sprinkle the rest of the cheese evenly across the pizza.
  • Italian seasoning Sprinkle a little seasoning around.

Whole Foods Whole Wheat Pizza Dough

Whole Foods fresh pizza dough isnt cheap, but its about as close to homemade pizza dough as youll get. We actually tried two different types of doughtraditional and whole-wheatand the latter was our clear favorite. Youll find this pizza dough in the pizza section of the store, and its same dough they use to make their by-the-slice pizza.

This dough has a pleasant yeasty aroma, and you can tell that it’s very fresh. The dough is silky-smooth to the touch, and its very easy to roll out. Here’s a tip: Try using cornmeal instead of flour to help the dough not stick to your work surfaceit has a slightly crunchy texture and it will add flavor to the dough, too.

We baked this dough in a 400 degree oven for about 15 minutes. The edges crisped up nicely and the underside turned an appealing golden-brown color. The flavor was nutty and subtly sweet with a touch of honey. All around, this was a very tasty crust.

The Verdict on Store-Bought Pizza Dough: While there are plenty of solid options for store-bought pizza dough, we still stand by the belief that nothing beats homemade. Yes, making dough from scratch takes timebut it’s worth the extra effort, we promise.

How To Make Cauliflower Pizza Crust

Making this cauliflower pizza crust takes a few steps but is well worth the effort and you will be glad you made it!

Begin by processing your cauliflower in a food processor.

After processing the cauliflower, place it in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave it on high for 4 minutes. After removing it from the microwave allow it to cool for at least 5 minutes, then place the cauliflower in a kitchen towel and squeeze away. Make sure to get all the water out of it, like every last bit! I squeezed my water how so hard I ended up with an amazing ball of cauliflower. remember, the trick to making a perfect cauliflower crust is to squeeze out as much liquid as possible out of the cauliflower.

Now place the cauliflower ball in a bowl and add an egg, 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese, 1/4 mozzarella cheese, salt, garlic powder rosemary and oregano. Mix it all in with a wooden spatula or your hands until a dough forms.

Spread the dough out on a lightly greased parchment paper or a pizza pan like you would with regular pizza dough.

Bake the crust at 500 degrees F for 10-15 minutes or until you begin to see that nice and golden color from around the edges.

Remove the crust from the oven and add your toppings. I decided to go with a simple margarita pizza but you can add whatever you want.

Now place the pizza back in the oven and turn on the broiler for just 3-5 minutes to melt the cheese. After the cheese has melted remove from the oven and slice.

Sprinkle some flour on your work surface, on your hands and on a rolling pin. Dump the dough out onto the floured surface, sprinkle a little more flour over it and roll it out. You will probably need to turn it over a few times and keep rolling it till it holds it’s shape somewhat.
