How I Arranged My Gluten

Gluten-Free Lunch Ideas for Kids and Adults

Ingredients:

  • Provolone cheese cut into cubes
  • Cherry tomatoes
  • Hard-boiled egg cut in half, and seasoned with salt and pepper
  • Clementine orange- I peeled mine.
  • Rosemary for garnish
  • Prepare the candied nuts- if using them.
  • Cube cheese.
  • Wash and dry the cherry tomatoes.
  • Cube and slice the meats, as needed.
  • Dry the olives on a paper towel. This is so the juices dont drip on anything else.
  • On one of the toothpicks, thread the slices of salami to form a curl pattern.
  • Place cubes of sweet capicola on one toothpick and prosciutto cotto cubes on another.
Tip: You can use other meats like: bologna, turkey, chicken, ham, or whatever you like. I recommend using one spicy meat for a contrast of flavours. However, you should take into account the preferences of whoever you are making lunch for.
  • On a toothpick, alternate the cubes of the provolone cheese and cherry tomatoes
  • Using a larger wooden skewer make the second stick of tomatoes and cheese
Tip: you can use mini bocconcini cheese if you like, and even weave fresh basil leaves between them.

6 GLUTEN FREE School Lunch Ideas ð? Bunches Of Lunches FAVORITES

One of my first questions was what can gluten free people eat for lunch? It turns out that its not much different. But it does require a lot more consideration and planning.

Because up until this point, my two year old usually ate sandwiches, bread rolls or pasta for lunch.

They were quick, readily available and stayed fresh from the time I usually made them in the morning, all the way until lunchtime.

And while gluten free bread has come a long way in the last few years, my children still get bored of sandwiches, so I have to think a little out of the box.

The days Im home with the kids, its easier and I dont need to be so prepared, but for my work days, we have to to make sure we have appetising gluten free lunches that can be sent to daycare or school.

Our daycare and school are both nut-free so I also have to be sure to consider this when packing lunches.

Gluten Free Chicken Salad Lettuce Wraps

Lettuce wraps are a great way to nix bread and still be able to enjoy yummy ingredients. Mix up your favorite recipe for chicken salad and use large leaves of iceberg lettuce in place of bread. Drop a dollop or two of the chicken salad mixture in the middle of the lettuce leaf, and simply roll it up. The crisp lettuce is a great alternative to gluten-filled bread.

Fresh Fruits Or Vegetables For The Gluten

Gluten

This might seem like a no-brainer because all fresh fruits and vegetables are inherently gluten free. However, lets make sure your kiddos will actually love and eat something from this department! Ive had success with these.

1. Sliced Apples with Sprinkled Cinnamon This is still my sons favorite. In kindergarten we started out peeling the apples, and Im happy to report that by the third grade, the apple skin is now acceptable to him. 2. Peeled Carrots A sweet and crunchy carrot is a stapleand rarely turned down! 3. Oranges and Tangerines Citrus is especially sweet at the peak of its season, during the winter months. If theyre available in your area, I highly recommend Sumo tangerines. Theyre ideal for lunch boxes because theyre super easy to peel & seedless, and kids love them.4. Crudités Yep, you read it right. That means a handful of raw veggies! Just add a small container of ranch dressing on the side, and your kids will be on board.5. Fruit Kebabs These are totally fun and can be made with your childs favorites! Heres a pretty example.

Yogurt Fruit & Granola

This is another fallback idea for my kids. They love to make a parfait of yogurt, fruit, and granola in their lunch. I pack it all separate and they love to add the fruit and granola to their yogurt at lunch time. Just make sure that your granola is certified gluten-free!

I actually really love this Paleo granola because it has low sugar levels and doesnt contain oats and other grains. Thrive Market makes a bunch of Paleo granola flavors as well: the pumpkin pie one is totally one of our favorites!

Supplies For Packing Gluten

7 Gluten Free Lunch Ideas for School

I do NOT recommend:

  • expensive bento boxes theyre usually too small for anyone older than toddlers and way too pricey especially if you have multiple kids as I do
  • cheaper plastic bento storage boxes Ive purchased at least 4 different versions and they all leak with the lids not snapping on or breaking after a couple weeks of use. They may be cheaper but its still a waste of money.

I DO recommend these back to school lunch supplies:

  • quality lunch bag
  • for preschoolers-elementary age, we love Lands End lunchboxes and this style from
  • for tweens-high school, my daughter loves this style while my high school son prefers this larger lunchbag.
  • generic plastic sandwich bags or reusable storage zippered bags
  • reusable cutlery
  • water bottle there are tons of options now so youll want to see what works best for your child, but weve had good luck with these styles:
  • leak-proof BPA-free 16oz bottle great for younger-elementary kids
  • nalgene 12 oz bottles harder to close for younger children, but have worked well for my kids 7+
  • 18oz Pogo were trying these this year, so far theyve been great
