Is Ragu Gluten Free

Walking down the pasta aisle can get quite overwhelming. Rows and rows of sauces of all different flavors, colors, etc. One pasta sauce brand you have likely seen in grocery stores is Ragu.
From tomato-based sauces to cheese sauces, Ragu has many flavors. But are all of these sauces safe for those with Celiac disease or gluten intolerance?
How Should My Jar Of Rag Sauce Be Stored
Always store your unopened jar of RAGÚ ® sauce in a cool, dry place. We recommend that you use the sauce by the Best if Used By date. We should note that refrigerating unopened jars will NOT lengthen shelf life.
Importantly, DO NOT USE SAUCE IF SAFETY BUTTON IS RAISED BEFORE OPENING.
The product life is limited once the jar is opened due to several factors: amount of time jar remained open at room temperature, amount of exposure to bacteria and other contaminants after opening i.e., airborne bacteria, improper food handling techniques, temperature of refrigerator . We always recommend that you tightly cap any unused portion of sauce and refrigerate it immediately freezing is not recommended as product may separate during thaw.
Tomato-based sauces should be used within five days after opening with proper refrigeration. Cheese-based sauces should be used within three days after opening with proper refrigeration.
How To Cook Gluten
- Make sure you use plenty of water. Gluten-free noodles release more starch as they cook so using plenty of water is important so the noodles dont get starchy and gummy on the outside.
- Cook according to the package instructions. There is less wiggle-room with the cook time for gluten-free pasta so be sure to set a timer when cooking the spaghetti.
- Dont add olive oil to the noodles during or after cooking this makes the noodles get a starchy/slimy film on the outside. Instead you can toss the pasta with some of this sauce after cooking!

Because the main ingredient in this award-winning preservative-free Alfredo sauce is real cream, the product tastes just like a homemade sauce would. The dairy cream base is slow-simmered and lightly cooked with aged Parmesan and garlic to maintain bold flavors that really shine through in the finished product. Still, its not too heavy or gloppy. Is Spaghetti Sauce Gluten
Looking at the ingredients, youll notice that most of the ingredients are natural and should be gluten-free. And youre right! If youre making your own spaghetti sauce, its super easy to keep gluten-free. However, when buying a jar of spaghetti sauce from the grocery store, this may not always be the case.
When buying any sauce, theres a chance it may contain gluten. This is for a variety of reasons. When making sauce, additives such as thickeners, stabilizers, flavorings, and preservatives are used. Theres a possibility that any of those could contain gluten, so its always best to opt for brands that carry a gluten-free label.
Another possibility is cross-contact. This is when the product itself does not contain any gluten ingredients, but due to the manufacturing, preparation, and storage methods, the final product may contain traces of gluten. If your sensitivity/intolerance is mild, you may be okay with this but celiacs and sensitive gluten intolerants should avoid at all costs.
