How To Make Leftover Mashed Potato Sesame Cheese Sticks

You will need 4 ingredients, and if you like, a teaspoon of your favourite gluten-free spices or herbs. For example, today, I added one teaspoon of onion powder.

Place the 4 ingredients mashed potatoes, grated cheese, sesame seeds, and tapioca or arrowroot starch, into a bowl. Now is the time when you would add seasoning.

Use your hands and mix to combine.

Place potato cheese mixture into a large freezer bag, and using a rolling pin, roll it out to about 3/4-inch thickness and place it in the freezer for 45 minutes. You must not skip this step!

After 45 minutes, slide it out onto a cutting board and slice it into desired lengths. You dont have to use up the entire piece. I cook up to ten at a time, and I place the rest of the dough back in the freezer for future use.

Place cooking oil about 1/4-inch deep in a skillet and heat to medium-high temperature. Place potato cheese sticks in the hot oil without touching. Do not crowd them, or they will stick together.

Cook for about 3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crispy. Drain on a paper towel or let them drain on a wire rack. Serve hot.

Homemade Dough Thats Totally Gluten

Its not just individuals with Celiac disease who cant tolerate gluten there are many, many people out there who have non-Celiac gluten sensitivity. In fact, as we learn more about the gluten protein, its becoming apparent that in spite of the benefits grains had during the agricultural era, most of us are probably better off not including it in our diet. This is unfortunate because fresh-baked bread, breadsticks, and pretzels are some of my favorite things to eat. Especially sesame grissini!

Thankfully, I can still enjoy paleo-approved sesame grissini thats also gluten-free thanks to this great recipe. The sticks are made out of homemade dough using almond meal, arrowroot flour, baking soda, salt, sesame seeds, dried thyme, and almond milk. You also have the option of adding granulated garlic for added flavor if youd like. These ingredients make a perfect replacement for bread dough and grissini. Serve them with your favorite paleo-approved dipping sauce for an out of this world appetizer before dinner.

Toast With Beans And Olive Oil

Some gluten-free breads become dry quickly, but toasting can make them more palatable .

To make a satisfying, protein-rich snack, heat canned navy beans and spread them over toast. Drizzle with extra virgin olive oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper. The toast can also be topped with fresh herbs.

To avoid gluten contamination from toasters, its a good idea to invest in a new one and only use it for gluten-free foods. When youre away from home, reusable toaster bags can prevent contact with crumbs .
