Review Of Bloom Bake Shop
This place trumps ANY of the similar places in NY city hands down….and HOOOOLY GLUTEN FREE WEDDING CAKE, BATMAN!!! Wow. These guys are absolutely the best. They have “regular’ treats as well, but for the foood allergy crowd, they’re just superpowered baking rock stars.
75 – 79 of 86 reviews
I have to say, these cupcakes are probably the best I have ever had. The cake is moist, tasty, and not too dense. The frosting, especially the buttercream, is just, asdfghjkl, I can’t even describe how sumptuous and delightful it is. I ABSOLUTELY recommend this bake shop. They also sell other baked goods . Another one of their great selling points are the beautiful cakes that they make for various occasions. I have never personally had one, but if they are as good as their cupcakes, they are certainly worth a trip to Middleton. This bake shop is also exceptional in that they have a wide variety of scrumptious vegan/gluten free items that are just as delicious as the regular food. I have a relative who has a very limited diet due to health issues, and I believe she could have a cupcake from Bloom without any problem. So, to conclude my very spirited review of this bake shop, I encourage you to, if you are ever in the Madison/Middleton area, visit Bloom Bake Shop. You will absolutely not regret it!

As Soon As I Got Off The Plane In Madison Wisconsin I Could Tell It Was A City That Cared About Food Quality And Ethics The First Thing I Saw Was A Market With A Big Sign About Food Miles A Calculation Of How Far Food Travels To Meet The Consumer And A Measure Of Environmental Impact Next I Saw An Outpost Of Ancora Coffee And Tea One Of Madisons Fair
Over the next few days in Madison, I found this same type of awareness in many eateries. For a Midwestern city, there were a lot of vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free menu options. Several places I visited displayed large signs proclaiming exactly which farms and manufacturers provided their ingredients. One morning, I stumbled upon a planter box of huge tomato and kale plants outside the elegantly imposing Capitol. I guess I shouldnt have been surprised by the food and environmental consciousness in general and the Capitol veggie garden in particular. After all, Madison WI was once home to Governor Gaylord Nelson, the man who invented Earth Day. Green consciousness now permeates many Madison businesses, especially those involving food.
Sourcing Ingredients in Madison WI
Bloom uses high-quality ingredients.
My first afternoon in Madison WI, I visited Bloom, a Gluten Free Madison WI bakery. Actually, Bloom is in Middleton, a Madison suburb. But its worth the trip to this sustainable, organic bakery, especially if youre vegan or gluten-free.
Annemarie Maitri, Blooms owner, is approaching the anniversary of her fifth year in business. Her original vision was spurred by her love of desserts, but also to be a steward of my community, she said. For Maitri, that means shelling out for quality ingredients that cut into profit margins. In fine dining, theres a threshold where you can charge way more for better ingredients, she said. But not with a bakery.
What Our Customers Are Saying
Beautiful little bakery right on the isthmus. Its right among houses and adorable. Not to mention amazing! They have tons of special needs diet food at great prices. I came in for the first time and the staff was wonderful at helping me find things. I highly recommend this place.
Paleo Mama Bakery unquestionably makes the best gluten-free graham crackers available, without relying on other grains, gums, or anything artificial like the rest. Amazing little paleo cheesecakes, again with only top quality ingredients. Delicious no-grain granolas.
Belle made me the most beautiful and delicious wedding cake last weekend and all my guests who tried it could not believe it was free of almost all of the top food allergens! I have many food allergies and am so appreciative of Paleo Mama Bakery for making me a cake I could enjoy on my special day.
Im a diabetic with a sweet tooth. Ive found that a paleo diet has helped me manage my blood sugar levels, but its been difficult to find great tasting desserts prepared using only paleo ingredients. Now Ive found them. Ive thus far tried Paleo Mamas chocolate chip and cherry chocolate chunk cookies. Both are great!

About Paleo Mama Bakery
After a decade of a personal struggle with an autoimmune disease, I still hadnt made any sense out of the advice given to me from various doctors, nor had I found any relief from the number of medications which I had been prescribed. Frustrated, sick, and malnourished, I focused my attention to the research of the link between diet and autoimmune diseases. I first learned about the SCD diet and incorporated that into my lifestyle. I found immediate relief from eliminating grains and sugar from my diet. Today I follow a somewhat tweaked combination of the SCD diet and the Paleo diet. I no longer take medication and am symptom free, as long as I steer clear of grains and refined sugar.
Knowing the struggle of living with a debilitating disease, I decided to use my illness to make a positive impact and help others. In September of 2014, I opened Paleo Mama Bakery in Madison, WI. My vision was simple: to help others find healing through diet. My focus was to create nutritious and delicious treats not only for others with conditions and allergies such as myself, but also for those who merely wanted food made from real, simple, healthy ingredients.
Our facility is dedicated to being gluten-free. We have a bakery on South Few Street in Madison, WI and distribute our products to over 40 stores throughout Wisconsin, Illinois and Michigan. Of course, our products can also be purchased here on our website. We hope you love our products as much as we do!

Remember to ask questions and be an advocate for yourself for a safe meal! If something is fried, be sure they have a separate GF fryer. Is the kitchen knowledgeable? Stress and then stress again if you are a severely sensitive celiac like me, because GF has become so popular, there are many restaurants who say they have a GF menu, but arent prepared to serve those with serious, severe dietary needs. This list is a compilation of places I have personally been and places recommended by local GF friends menus, staff, chefs all change over all the time, and as hard as I work to keep it current, ALWAYS ask questions, every single time!
