Are Chilis Chips Gluten Free
While Chilis tortilla chips do not contain gluten, unfortunately, they are not gluten-free. They are on their gluten-friendly menu but they are cooked in a shared fryer with gluten-containing foods. This means that they are at an extremely high risk of cross-contact. I would not advise eating the tortilla chips at Chilis, whether your sensitivity to gluten is mild or severe. And definitely avoid it if you have celiac disease.

Kettle Brand Tortilla Chips
Kettle is certified gluten-free by the GFCO, which means that its facilities are inspected to adhere to gluten-free standards. Where Is Gluten Most Likely To Be Found In Chips
Gluten can hide in the most unlikely places, including snack foods and chips. In chips, you might find gluten in the chips themselves if they contain wheat flour, wheat derivatives, or in some of the flavorings added to the chips to create unique flavors.
Many chips dont contain any gluten-containing ingredients at all, but are not considered gluten-free, because they are processed on the same equipment as other snack foods with gluten.
In this case, youd have to do what you feel is best to determine whether or not a brand or flavor of chips is right for you, based on how sensitive and reactive your body is to gluten.
Some people with gluten sensitivity or gluten intolerance can tolerate trace amounts of gluten, while others cant handle any at all.
One of my little secrets is that I carry around a copy of my GFDF Take Along Cards so that I always have a point of reference when I can sneak a peek at the ingredient list of a food.

Are Potato Chips Gluten
Gluten is a protein found in wheat, rye and barley and these grains’ derivatives.
For the most part, chips are made of just a few ingredients: potatoes, salt, vegetable oil and any additional seasonings, according to the FDA. Generally, these are gluten-free and safe to eat if you’re gluten-sensitive or intolerant.
But recipes will vary, depending on the flavors and added seasonings. Some flavors can be also made with malt vinegar or wheat starch, which both contain gluten, according to the Celiac Disease Foundation. Plus, there are plenty of potato chip-cracker hybrids out there that may contain gluten.
So, checking the packaging carefully is crucial .

Which Flour Is Best For Gluten Free Chocolate Chip Cookies
Which gluten-free flour you use is important.
I tested this recipe using my gluten free flour blend which has equal parts white rice flour, brown rice flour, tapioca starch, and potato starch.
I would recommend using a similar blend. If you use a gluten free flour that has more starch or has too much xanthan gum in it your cookies wont spread the same way.
If you use a blend that already has xanthan gum in it, please omit the xanthan gum in the recipe.
If you double up on the xanthan gum, your cookies will be gummy.
I think this recipe would work well with Ryzes Blue Bag. I havent tested it yet but based on my experience with Ryze I expect it would turn out deliciously.
If you use Ryzes Blue Bag, be sure to omit the xanthan gum.

Here is a list of the Lays products that do not contain gluten ingredients according to the Lays website:

Common Foods Containing Gluten:
Foods such as pasta, bread, cereals, crackers, breakfast foods like waffles, crêpes, pancakes, and beer contain gluten.
These are some of the most glutinous foods, and they are reliant on gluten to ensure they stick together.
There are, luckily, alternatives to all of these foods. Additionally, fries, chips, salad dressings and condiments, meat substitutes, and candy may also contain gluten.
This should be checked when purchasing, but there are alternatives to these. All flour and bread derive from gluten, so other options are necessary with these products.
What Do I Need To Know About Gluten
If youre looking for a gluten-free chip brand, flavor, or variety, youll need to know what it means when you find a package with a gluten-free label.
As per the FDA regulations, a packaged food cannot contain more than 20ppm of gluten in order to have the gluten-free label on it.
This is helpful if you are gluten sensitive or intolerant when it comes to choosing chips that arent going to give you a reaction when you eat them.
On the other hand, there are plenty of chips that are available that contain no gluten-containing ingredients at all and still dont have a gluten-free label.
This is because the chips are processed and manufactured in the same facility or on the same processing equipment as products that do have gluten.
The companies cannot guarantee that there isnt cross contamination or they havent tested for trace amounts of gluten in order to meet the 20ppm threshold.
The bottom line is that if you see a gluten-free label, you can feel confident that the product is gluten-free. If you dont see it, it might still be okay for your diet if there are no gluten-containing ingredients and you arent sensitive to trace amounts of gluten from cross contamination.
