Zucchini Pasta With Shrimp

3 Ingredient Keto Pasta Made 2 Ways (Gluten Free)

Paleo Running Momma

Ingredients: zucchinis, shrimp, salt, smoked paprika, cooking fat of choice, diced tomatoes, olive oil, garlic, Italian seasoning, fresh basil, crushed red pepper.

The smoked paprika in this recipe helps give you a delicious smokey flavor that goes well with the shrimp. If you cant find smoked paprika, then regular paprika also works well. To prepare the zucchini you can use a mandolin, a shredder setting on a food processor or why not try investing in a spiralizer!

Meatified

Ingredients: shrimp, zucchini, onion, coconut milk, stock, arrowroot starch, cajun seasoning, garlic powder, black pepper, olive oil.

Shrimp has long been an ingredient associated with Cajun cuisine and this recipe is no different. The shrimp can easily handle the Cajun seasoning. The shrimp also gives you a lovely meaty texture which goes so well with the softer texture of the zucchini. If you prefer, you could use red onion to add a different color and a gentler flavor, but because of the spice the white onion tastes great.

I Breathe Im Hungry

Ingredients: sardines packed in olive oil, extra virgin olive oil, garlic, ripe tomatoes, capers, zucchini noodles, salt, pepper, parsley.

Option : Spaghetti Squash

Spaghetti squash is a popular vegetarian alternative for low carb noodles, keto noodles, and gluten free noodles alike. I like to use it in my keto Instant Pot spaghetti casserole!

How To Make Alfredo Sauce With Heavy Cream

So, how to make alfredo sauce with heavy cream? Its incredibly easy. You only need four ingredients and ten minutes!

I didnt include nutmeg in the ingredient count, because its optional. Salt and pepper are also excluded by convention. Everyone has those around, right?

Start by sauteing minced garlic in some butter. Add heavy cream, and simmer for five minutes, until the volume reduces by about one third. It will get thicker as this happens.

For the fastest results, choose a larger saucepan. The more surface area you have, the less time it will take!

The last step is to add the Parmesan cheese. Reduce heat to low and add the cheese, whisking constantly, until smooth. You can add the nutmeg, sea salt and black pepper to taste at the end.

Viola! That is how to make the best easy Alfredo sauce recipe!

As for consistency, you can adjust it to your liking. If its too thick, you can thin it out with more cream. If its too thin, add more cheese.

  • Spiralize vegetables. A spiralizer is the easiest way to cut just about any vegetable into a low carb pasta substitute. Simply follow the instructions for your spiralizer to twist your favorite vegetables into homemade keto pasta!
  • Use a mandoline to cut vegetables into sheets for rolls, lasagnas, or casseroles. This technique works well if you dont have a spiralizer or if you want wide low carb noodles for layering. Peel your vegetables if necessary, but vegetables like zucchini dont need to be peeled.
  • Buy low carb pasta alternatives. These can be vegetables that come in noodle shape, like spaghetti squash, or low carb pasta alternatives like shirataki or kelp noodles, etc.
  • Make low carb noodles by making a dough or batter with low carb ingredients like almond or coconut flour. Its tough to get the same texture as wheat pasta, but you can still get pasta that you can twirl and enjoy with sauce.

What Types Of Pasta Should You Avoid

Low Carb & Keto Cheesy Pasta Bake

Most of the pasta you find in stores use grains, starches or rice as their main ingredient. Which means theyre high in carbohydrates and not keto-friendly. So youll need to steer clear of them!

These are the 4 main varieties of pasta you should avoid on a Keto diet:

    • Wheat Flour-Based Pasta

Italian-style pasta is made with a specific type of wheat flour, known as durum. You might also see it referred to as pasta flour or even macaroni flour. The high carbohydrate content of durum wheat means that any traditional wheat-based pasta cannot be considered a Keto-friendly food.

Products made with durum wheat also have a relatively high glycemic index which means they cause your blood sugar to spike. For example, durum wheat spaghetti has a Glycemic Index of 71 anything over 70 is considered high . And thats all the more reason to avoid them.

    • Rice-Based Pasta

This type of pasta is commonly used in Asian cuisines. The most popular forms are Chinese mei fun and ho fun . All types of rice-based pasta are naturally high in carbohydrates, whether theyre made with white, brown or wild rice. And that means theyre not Keto-friendly.

    • Egg Noodles or Pasta

Despite their name, egg noodles are not Keto. Almost all egg-based pasta still contains high levels of traditional wheat or rice flour. A higher proportion of the pasta dough is made of eggs , but its just as unfriendly to a Keto diet as the other types of pasta weve mentioned on this list.

    • Couscous

    Three Types Of Gluten Conditions

The medical community categorizes three types of gluten-related conditions. Those with wheat allergy, celiac disease, and non-celiac gluten sensitivity.

There are three main types of gluten conditions. The most common type is celiac disease, which affects an estimated 1 in 100 people worldwide. Also known as celiac sprue or gluten-sensitive enteropathy, it is believed that about two-thirds of people with the disease are undiagnosed and not getting the proper treatment.

The second is people with wheat allergies. People who have allergies to wheat will break out into hives, have facial swelling, and even have difficulty breathing if they come in contact with any form of wheat. It is a serious thing when their antibodies react to the wheat proteins.

The third is people with non-celiac gluten sensitivity. Individuals with non-celiac gluten/wheat sensitivity have symptoms that are comparable to those of celiac disease, which go away when gluten is avoided. They do not, however, test positive for celiac disease.

Many people who have gluten in their diet but do not test positive for celiac disease experience symptoms comparable to those seen in celiac disease, such as foggy brain, increased sadness, ADHD-like symptoms, abdominal pain, bloating, diarrhea, constipation, headaches, bone or joint discomfort, and chronic fatigue.
