Adah Chung is a fact checker, writer, researcher, and occupational therapist.

It’s tough to beat the convenience of frozen dinners. But if you have celiac disease or non-celiac gluten sensitivity, you might assume that convenience is off the table for you, since so many ready-to-eat frozen dinners contain gluten-based noodles, sauces, or other ingredients. Fortunately, that assumption is wrongnearly a dozen manufacturers make frozen dinners that they explicitly label “gluten-free.”

Trader Joes Organic Frozen Tropical Fruit Blend

A frozen combo of pineapple, bananas, strawberries and mango, this is another frozen mixture I often have in my cart. High in vitamins A & C, this spells summertime and is a perfect addition to smoothies. With no cholesterol, super low sodium and minimal processing, its another easy go-to for a fruit-based dessert. Just a word to the wise: dont let it thaw. The bananas are not pretty once defrosted!

Chili Lime Chicken Burgers + Plain Turkey Burgers

Ok, youre kind of getting a bonus product favorite with this one. But I had to mention them both. The chicken lime burgers are amazing. They always seem to come out super tender. And theyre full of great flavor. They do cost a little bit more than the plain turkey burgers though. So normally, I buy the turkey burgers. And theyre great to have on hand when we have a busy day and just need an easy meal. Both are awesome and worth trying!

How To Make Freezer Taco Rice Casserole

We love taco night, just like the rest of the world, but sometimes we need our food to have more FOOD in it. With growing kids and busy schedules I need a dish that incorporates the deliciousness of tacos with the hardiness of a casserole loaded with carbs and protein. Over the years, we have mastered this dish. With less than 10 straightforward ingredients, its fast to whip together to toss in the freezer or in the oven.

First, youll brown your ground turkey and chopped onions. Drain any grease and add taco seasoning and water. Let cool.

In a large mixing bowl, combine two cans of diced tomatoes with green chilies, Tofutti dairy-free sour cream , ground turkey, rice, corn, black beans and Daiya dairy-free Mozzarella Shreds

Pour the mixture into two 9×13, greased pans and top with remaining cheese and chopped green onions.

Plan Your Recipes Based On A Common Ingredient

When ground beef is on sale, make precooked meatballs, taco filling, seasoned and formed hamburgers, chili and/or homemade pizza pockets. Then your frozen item is ready to be warmed up and added to other ingredients to make burritos, tacos, BBQ meatball sandwiches, and spaghetti and meatballs. Chicken can be packaged in a variety of marinades for grilling, stir fries or baking.

I recently stocked up at Trader Joes and was reminded of some amazing TV dinners they have. Honestly, I normally try to make most of our meals from scratch. Were on a tight food budget and homemade is the best way to save. But my husband just broke his foot, so I have a bit more work around here. If I can make my life a little easier with some DELICIOUS gluten free and dairy free foods from Trader Joes, then Im all about it.

This list is not meant to be an all-inclusive mega-list of all things gluten free and dairy free at Trader Joes. Its just a quick list of some of my all-time gluten and dairy free favorites and some new finds that Ive been loving.

    Trader Joes Fully Cooked Falafel

Both vegan and gluten free, these are another convenient staple to have on hand. Throw them into a wrap, serve them atop of a salad, or even simply dip them as a snack. Love that these have 6 grams of fiber per serving!

A few tips: to keep them from tasting dry, cover them with a damp paper towel when heating. And to serve with an easy tahini sauce, mix tahini, lemon juice, garlic powder, water and salt to your liking. Kids may enjoy dipping them in ketchup:).

    Kitava Formerly Meal Made

    Target: Udi

Kitava has a strong reputation for high-quality food and is considered one of the leading food delivery services. The company is unusual in that the meals are free from corn, peanuts, refined sugar and seed oils, while also avoiding gluten, soy, and dairy.

As a result, Kitava prepares their dishes using non-inflammatory organic oil such as avocado, olive and palm oil. They incorporate raw honey, coconut palm, and maple syrup as a sugar substitute to ensure low glycemic content in their desserts. This makes it a perfect choice for people with autoimmune conditions and food allergies, along with anyone focusing on clean and natural meals.

There are also customization options, such as the source of protein. For example, the Baja Bowl can use pastured chicken, wild-caught salmon or cumin-spiced beans for protein.

Examples of the meals include dishes such as Zoodles and Meatballs, Meatloaf and Sweet Potato Mash, and Spaghetti Squash Bolognese being included in their menu. The one limitation is that there aren’t many meals available at any given time, so your flexibility is limited.

The lunch and dinner menu meals range between $10 and $18, appetizers between $5 and $10, side dishes for $3 to $8, and desserts for about $3 to $5.95. Their delivery fee ranges between $3 and $5 to most parts of San Francisco.

    Gluten Free Freezer Meals

Having ready to serve meals in my freezer has saved me on more than one occasion. If you have been gluten free for any length of time, you know that just grabbing something out isnt generally that simple.

Whether youre prepping for a new baby, a busy time in life, or just want to have some more time in your evenings, these meals are for you.

My favorite way to prep freezer meals is to just make two batches at a time. One for dinner the night Im making it and one for the freezer. I usually buy aluminum pans to freeze them in, but if you are lucky enough to have enough glass dishes to use, that would be a better option.

Be sure to let me know in the comments which one of these meals is your favorite! You can get any of the full recipes by clicking on the picture.

    Trader Joes Riced Cauliflower Bowl

My 17 year-old actually brought this TJs product to my attention. After taking a look at the ingredients, I gave it the thumbs up. Once again, this is in a pinch product, but we all know that happens.

This bowl has a base of riced cauliflower which is topped with chopped sweet potatoes, red onions, tofu, chickpeas and then some sambal oelek red chili paste and tahini sauce. Gluten Free & Dairy Free Freezer Meals

When I had my daughter, almost four years ago, I did not prepare any meals for after she arrived. That was a HUGE mistake.

Sure we had people to bring us food, but most of our meals consisted of fast food for the first few months of her life, yikes! So with my son, I knew I wanted to be overly prepared.

This was also my first pregnancy with food allergies so it wasnt as simple as going out to grab some fast food or having family bring us food.

I needed to have gluten free and dairy free options available for the whole family when he arrived, so I got to work.

I prepped 20 meals before my son arrived and it was the best time I could have possibly spent getting ready for the baby.

We had gluten free and dairy free home cooked meals ready for the first month and a half of his life.

All I had to do was cook the food, most of which was in a slow cooker, so it was very little effort.

Below are the links to the recipes for all of the meals I prepared before baby arrived. I made two of each recipe to equal 20 meals .

In the instructions section of all of the recipes, you will see freezer instructions you can follow to prepare these meals ahead of time.

I hope you enjoy them as much as we have!
