How To Make Fruity Pebbles Blondies

These are a bit different than the brownies. More of a cakey texture and a totally different flavor with the fun fruity bits! One of my boys loved this one the most while the other loved the brownies, but everyone loved either recipe. Feel free to add some white chocolate chips to these if you want, but theyre definitely not needed.

Ingredients In Fruity Pebbles

So wheres the problem? The cereal was and still is immensely popular among the kids and even adults alike. Well, it all started when veganism hit popularity and the cereal started being questioned for its vegan content.

To help you understand, we sought the ingredient list to determine whether its actually a vegan cereal and this is what we found. Fruity Pebbles is not 100% vegan and this can be implied from Fruity Pebbles Cereal Ingredients found on the label behind the box.

Ingredients

  • Vitamin D

Sugar

A vital ingredient in nearly every cereal but if youre a vegan beware of it. White refined sugar, particularly, for its processed with bone char to get the milky white color.

Palm kernel oil

While the oil itself doesnt contain any animal by-products, the production process of the oil is deemed responsible for the devastation of orang-utans and tigers. Also, animals are regularly slaughtered to clear off land for oil production.

Natural flavors

This is a slightly grey area because natural flavor is an umbrella term that can include dairy and other animal products as well so vegans generally steer clear of this territory.

Artificial colors

Fruity Pebbles contains plenty of them Red 40, Yellow 6, Blue 1, Yellow 5, and Blue 2. The problem with these is that theyre tested on animals which amounts to animal cruelty another thing vegan are strictly against.

Vitamin D

You may have never imagined this but vitamin D used in cereals is derived from lanolin or sheeps wool.

    Are Fruity Pebbles Healthy

Dont be fooled by the name. Fruity Pebbles do not contain fruit, and they are far from healthy. Despite their efforts to reduce sugar by changing the amount of total sugars in each box back in 2010, Fruity Pebbles still contain artificial sugars, natural flavors, and several ingredients that should be avoided. Among these, which is not just a red flag for not just vegans but all people, is Red Dye 40.

    Are Fruity Pebbles Gluten Free

Yes, Fruity Pebbles are gluten free and labeled as such too. The Gluten Free label is seen on the side panel of the cereal box and under the ingredient list.

Fruity Pebbles are made from rice, sugar, oil and a whole bunch of food dye. No gluten in sight, and Nima is all smiles, assuring me that its gluten free.

Please note that Cocoa Pebbles are also labeled gluten free and safe to consume on a gluten-free diet.

How To Store Fruity Pebbles Cake

You can store your frosted Fruity Pebbles cake at room temperature for 2-3 days. If you’ve already sliced it, make sure to cover the cut sides with plastic wrap. You can also refrigerate the cake for up to a week, but be forewarned that sometimes refrigerating baked goods can make them a little stale.

You can also freeze Fruity Pebbles cake. Slice it first, then wrap each slice in plastic wrap then aluminum foil, then drop them into a plastic freezer bag, squeezing out all the excess air. It should stay fresh for up to 2 months.

To eat your frozen cake, place a slice in the refrigerator overnight to defrost, then you can eat it once it’s fully thawed. I don’t recommend thawing at room temperature.

    Are Reeses Puffs Gluten Free

Reeses Puffs cereal is made of sweet and crunchy corn puffs coated with peanut butter. Obviously if you have a peanut allergy, you should avoid this cereal.

The cereal box isnt marked gluten free, however, the ingredient list, which includes whole grain corn, sugar, Reeses peanut butter, dextrose, corn meal, corn syrup, oil and artificial flavors, does not include any gluten-y ingredients.

I tested Reeses Puffs for hidden gluten with my Nima Sensor, and Nima came back with a smile .

    Are Lucky Charms Gluten Free

POST Fruity Pebbles Treats Cereal Bars Review

Yes, according to the Lucky Charms website, the Original Lucky Charms cereal is gluten free even though the cereal contains commodity oats. Again, while oats are naturally gluten free, they are highly cross contaminated with wheat during the harvesting and manufacturing processes.

Lucky Charms says, First, we check the oats after sifting to make sure they contain less than 20 parts per million of gluten. Then, we check it again after the oats are milled into flour. We always ship the flour to our plants in our fleet of dedicated gluten-free trucks and rail cars. Lastly, after the flour is baked into Original Lucky Charms cereal, we check one last time to ensure gluten-free.

The inside Original Lucky Charms are gluten free too. Did you know you could just buy a bag of the Lucky Charm marshmallows?

I put Lucky Charms to the Nima Sensor test, and Nima was all smiles, again, telling me it didnt find any hidden gluten.

Please note that Chocolate Lucky Charms and Fruity Lucky Charms are NOT gluten free. General Mills only guarantees that its Original Lucky Charms will contain less than 20 ppm of gluten. Look for the gluten-free claim on individual packages of Original Lucky Charms.

Why You Will Love This Recipe

    • Kids love to make AND eat them!
    • No bake recipe which I always love
    • The base is 3 ingredients
    • Bright, colorful, and unique!
    • Butter
    • Salt

Cereal A regular size box of Fruity Pebbles is just the right amount. It contains roughly 6 cups of cereal.

This recipe uses 10.5 ounces of mini marshmallows. This is the size of a standard bag of minis. It is equal to approximately 6 cups of minis.

Butter I usually cook with unsalted butter so I can control the amount of salt. If you have salted butter, just omit the Kosher salt later in the recipe.

Salt The salt really brings this recipe together. Because the cereal and the marshmallows are sweet, I like to balance things with some salt.

Some recipes use vanilla extract for more flavor but I like the salt better.

    The History Of Fruity Pebbles

Fruity Pebbles was introduced as Pebbles in 1969, a spin off from Posts Rice Krinkles cereal and manufactured by Post Consumer Brands. Both the creators of the Flintstones and the the creators of Pebbles cereal hit the jackpot as they formed a mutually beneficial relationship to help boost both of their brands and reach the same target audiences .

Thus, Pebbles products were reintroduced with characters from The Flintstones in hopes of catching the eyes of children. It was the first time in history a brand formed around a media character. Fruity Pebbles and the licensing to use the Flintstones marketing efforts became a hit with children and families alike.

After debate around naming the sugar rice cereal krinkle cereal to Flint Chips or Rubble Pebbles, really centering around the idea of the stone age and caveman imagery. The name clearly didnt stick, and neither did the recipe. The brand evolved many different times over the course of a few decades. What originally started as three colors and flavors eventually became 6, including berry blue, incrediberry purple, and bedrock berry.

Now, the Pebbles Cereal that lines the shelves contains much less sugar than it did pre 2010, but what makes it not vegan? Lets assess the ingredients and nutritional information, and history of Fruity Pebbles shall we?

    Are Cheerios Gluten Free

Im often asked if Cheerios are gluten free because there is a lot of confusion about the brand. A lot of people with celiac disease refuse to eat it.

Cheerios are not only labeled gluten free, but also each packaging also displays, Proud sponsor of the Celiac Disease Foundation. As you know, when the Celiac Disease Foundation accepts money from Cheerios, it is clearly endorsing the product as safe for people with celiac disease.

On top of the gluten-free label and the endorsement from the Celiac Disease Foundation, I independently tested Cheerios for hidden gluten. The Nima Sensor did not detect any gluten .

Still, some people in the celiac disease community are wary of Cheerios. I have been skeptical myself, although I think that feeling is waning. To be honest with you, I believe everyone should be able to make their own decision about the safety of Cheerios without being judged or shamed.

The reason many people in the celiac disease community are skeptical of Cheerios is because General Mills uses commodity oats to make its cereal. Oats, while naturally gluten free, are often cross contaminated with gluten throughout the harvesting and manufacturing processes. You can read more about it in this article, Are Oats Gluten Free?

General Mills, like other companies, optically or mechanically sorts its commodity oats to remove the oat grain from any potential gluten grains that might have contaminated the crop.
