You will find that this mayonnaise will last up to a week when kept in an airtight container in the fridge. Keep in mind that if your eggs are relatively old, then it may not last as long. If it smells funky or looks unpleasant, then discard.

Its also important to remember that this is a raw egg product so make sure you dont leave it sitting on the bench for too long and if youre pregnant then its best to avoid it altogether.

Potato Salad Without Mayonnaise In The Instant Pot

This amazing potato salad without mayonnaise is a crowd pleaser for any occasion. This recipe is an adaptation of classic German potato salad without onion. Instead of onion, this recipe uses celery to get that great crunch.

I use the Instant Pot to make this potato salad super easy to make, but you can also just boil your potatoes until you can stick a fork through them.

When it comes to choosing potatoes for potato salad, I prefer yellow or red potatoes. Russet potatoes just have a different texture. For this recipe, I used fingerling potatoes.

Prep Time

  • 1/4 cup packed parsley leaves
  • 1/4 cup red wine vinegar
  • 1/4 cup olive oil

Instant Pot German Potato Salad

gluten free vegan mayonnaise

I wish I could take credit for inventing the idea of potato salad without mayonnaise, but as it turns out Germany beat met to it very many years ago. German potato salad is best known for no mayo.

One of my good friends hallmark dishes is German potato salad, which if you have never had it before, has onion in it.

Since Im allergic to onion too, I came up with my own adaptation using celery instead, and voila, a great side dish for any occasion.

The celery gives the potato salad a nice crunch like it would have if it had raw onion in it. This is simple chopped raw celery, which makes this recipe even easier to put together.

This Instant Pot German potato salad is of course, gluten free, and super easy to make thanks to the help we get from our Instant Pot!

No Instant Pot? No problem. You can still make this amazing gluten free German potato salad by simply boiling your potatoes until you can put a fork through them!

Love mayo, but hate drizzling the oil? Want to make mayo all the time, but just the thought of how much time it takes exhausts you? Well, I have a solution with todays Easiest Minute Mayo. You are going to love this recipe!

Some of yall know that I am a major homemade mayo fan! Like, I looooooooooooooooove it! A few years ago, I learned all about homemade mayo and came up with a Coconut and Avocado Oil Mayo recipe that was perfect for my tastebuds. But, it still required drizzling in the oil which frankly, I hated. Thankfully my friend Orleatha introduced me to making mayo with an immersion blender.

Mind. Blown.

I have yet to find a commercial brand of mayo that tastes as good as my homemade mayo . The only one that comes close is Coconaise . Coconaise is really tasty, but it is expensive so it is a once-in-a-rare-while treat for me. But, if you are just not into making your own mayo and want one that is clean, tastes good, and wont go rancid quickly, then Coconaise is a great contender!

Its so handy. And they store well because they arent big. When I first came across a recipe utilizing a hand blender, I rejected the idea. The last thing I need is another tool. When I finally got one, I realized what I had been missing. If you are into sauces, gravy, dressings, soups, its so helpful for all those. I use mine multiple times a week. Its not too expensive and so worth it. This immersion blender is the one I use.

Certain Types Of Mayo Contain Dairy

Although most types of mayo are dairy-free, there are some exceptions.

For example, many recipes for eggless mayonnaise use condensed milk as an egg substitute, which gives the sauce a slightly sweeter flavor and thicker texture than traditional mayonnaise .

Another example is milk mayonnaise, a popular Portuguese mayo made with whole milk, lemon juice, oil, and spices. This type of mayo does contain dairy.

Furthermore, dairy products like buttermilk or Parmesan cheese may be added to some mayonnaise-based dressings like ranch or creamy Italian.

Some recipes for eggless mayonnaise or milk mayonnaise contain dairy. Mayonnaise-based dressings like ranch or creamy Italian may also contain milk products.

Tips Tricks And Storage Instructions

  • If your mayo isn’t getting creamy, your blender isn’t blending fast enough . A small blender, like the magic bullet, is best since there is less space. Alternatively, you can use an immersion blender to get the same high powered, small space effect.
  • This recipe is very easy to scale. Smaller batches are easier to make though.
  • For best results, allow the mayo to thicken up A LOT more in the fridge for a few hours before serving. It tastes better chilled and has the best consistency once it has had time to thicken up.
  • Also, chilling the aquafaba liquid ahead of time will help it thicken quicker!
  • Store leftover mayonnaise in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks. Do not freeze. I like to store mine in something like a small glass mason jar since they seal properly to prevent spoilage.
  • If your leftover mayo seems to have lost some of its lift, throw it in the blender again for a quick whip, to revive it once again!

How Do You Make Vegan Gluten Free Soy Free Dairy Free Mayonnaise

The trick is to add everything to a mason jar or mixing cup and blend with a hand blender . Lets talk key ingredients.

  • Avocado oil: Avocado oil is a neutral tasting oil so it can be used in recipes like mayonnaise and have the same taste as other neutral oils, like canola, without the use of grains and over processing. Its a healthy fat source. This is a great avocado oil brand and can be found at some Costcos and at Trader Joes for a bit cheaper than online stores.
  • Aquafaba: There isnt any nutrition found in aquafaba, but its ability to whip up like an egg makes it desirable for those of us who dont tolerate eggs well. The aquafaba in this recipe can also be substituted with one large egg.
  • Lemon juice and Dijon mustard: These ingredients add the tang to the mayonnaise that you need for the authentic taste you expect. If you are nightshade free, look for a mustard without paprika.

Ingredient Notes And Swaps

  • Olive oil will swap for the avocado oil if that is what you have. Avoid vegetable/canola oils. I purchase avocado oil from Costco.
  • Almond or cashew milks should swap for the coconut milk if that is what you have. If you are following an anti-inflammatory type diet, coconut milk would be the best option over a nut milk. I promise this doesnt turn out tasting like coconut! If you tolerate dairy, raw milk/cream works too.
  • You can leave the raw honey out if you are sugar free. Organic pure cane sugar or coconut sugar would work too. The hint of sweet makes it really taste like Miracle Whip if that is what you are used to. Without the sweet it tastes more like a Hellmanns type mayo and is really yummy too! I purchase raw honey from a local farmer.
  • Make sure you taste the mayo once it is blended for sea salt/pepper to your taste, as well as tang you can add more mustard or lemon juice if you want more tangy bite.

I literally eyeball everything into a mason jar mason jars have measurements on the side so I just fill the avocado oil and coconut milk to the levels on the jar and toss in the rest it takes less than 5 minutes!

How To Find A Gluten

Homemade Mayo: Easy Paleo, Gluten & Dairy Free Cooking Ep. 24

When shopping at the store, the best way to be sure youre buying a gluten-free mayo is to look closely at the label.

According to the Food and Drug Administration , any foods that contain one of the following claims on the packaging must contain fewer than 20 parts per million of gluten a safe number for people who follow a gluten-free diet (

  • free of gluten
  • without gluten

If you see one of these claims on a jar of mayo, you can rest assured that the product is gluten-free.

Many food manufacturers choose to include these labels on their gluten-free products voluntarily, but theyre not legally required to do so. Thus, some gluten-free mayos may not state this on the label even if the product is gluten-free.

You can also check the ingredient list to look for ingredients that could contain a form of wheat or gluten. When youre at a restaurant, check with a server or manager to find out whether their mayo is gluten-free.

The following mayo brands are known to sell gluten-free options:
