How Do You Make Gluten Free Brownies

Chocolate Date Brownies – Gluten Free and Dairy Free

This is an easy gluten-free brownies recipe.

You don’t have to pull out a saucepan, or melt chocolate.

You only need one bowl and a handful of pantry staples.

For the flakiest top, I do change the order you mix ingredients, first mixing the oil with the sugar and cocoa.

I feel like this helps my brownies have a better texture, and helps it to get that flaky top.

That said, I do get lazy sometimes and mix it up like a brownie mix. Just mix all the dry ingredients together, and then add the wet ingredients and stir until you have a batter.

It is quick and easy, and you still get some darn delicious gluten free brownies.

Just look at that flaky top… these gf brownies really are better than a box mix.

If fudgy brownies aren’t your thing, you’ll have to check out my gluten free chewy brownies with almond flour. They are more involved since they use melted chocolate, and almond flour in addition to a gluten free all purpose flour, but they are well worth the effort.

Miss Jones Baking Organic Fudge Brownie Mix

Flavor Rating: 5/5

If youre looking for the ultimate vegan fudge brownie mix, then this is hands-down one of my favorites. Once you blend it up with your favorite vegan milk substitute, the mixture is so thick and chocolatey itll literally make your jaw drop.

The first time I made these brownies, I admittedly ate four whopping spoonfuls of batter before I even poured it in the pan.

Miss Jones is a small family-owned business that focuses on creating products with simple ingredients. Their packaged vegan brownie mix is as close as it gets to making your own mix from scratch.

It features just six ingredients:

  • Organic cane sugar

Dish By Dish Tips/tricks:

  • Line Baking Pan with Parchment Paper: I definitely recommend that you line the baking pan with parchment paper so that you can easily lift the brownies once baked .
  • Cut into More or Less Servings: Depending on how large you would like each brownie to be, you could get between 12 to 15 brownies.
  • Texture Depends on Bake Time: If you prefer a fudgy texture , simply bake for 22 minutes and then remove from the oven and cool. If you prefer less-fudgy, more cakey brownies, then bake 25 minutes before removing from the oven and cooling.
  • Topping Variations: While you could eat these perfect gluten-free brownies without any toppings, I highly recommend some toppings for extra texture. !

How To Make These Fudgy Chocolate Brownies

In a mixing bowl, cream together butter, sugar and vanilla for about 2 minutes.

Add eggs one at a time, mixing well. Set aside.

In another bowl, whisk almond flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, salt and chocolate chips. Mix until all chocolate chips are mixed throughout.

Slowly add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients. Mix until fully combined.

See how easy these are?

Just pour the batter into the greased pan and bake. BOOM!

Low carb, sugar free, grain free, gluten free chocolatey deliciousness.

You dont even need an electric mixer to make these. Theres nothing that good old hand stirring with a big wooden spoon can handle.

You might get in a little exercise too and yes, I totally count that for my daily workout.

Bake for 18 to 20 minutes until the center is set.

The texture is perfect, they arent too crumbly and do not fall apart. Isnt that annoying?

I mean, dont get me wrong I will eat all the crumbs, but I just dont like them to be too messy. And I pinky promise, these are not.

Perfectly fudgy inside and crispy on top and the edges. Dont you just love those crispy corners or edges?

I do. And I always pick a corner first, without fail.

How perfect do these look?

One goal I had with this gluten free chocolate brownies recipe was to keep the ingredient list short.

So, unlike many gluten free baking recipes, this brownie recipe only uses one type of flour! No need to buy several different gluten free flours for this recipe!

The type of flour used is cassava flour. There are a lot of cassava flour options on the market , but my favorite brands to use are Anthonys, Ottos, or Bobs Red Mill.

Heres a list of all the ingredients youll need to make this gluten free chocolate brownies recipe.

  • Dairy free dark chocolate chips
  • Refined coconut oil

Do They All Taste The Same

The cool thing is that all of the different versions taste the same. Theyre all just as gooey and theres no grittiness!

That can be said of all of my gluten-free recipes. I dont sacrifice on taste or texture!

If you try these gluten-free brownies while warm, the buckwheat and teff versions do have something a little texturally weird going on but once they cool, its a thing of the past!

Its a really flexible recipe. Just dont go halving the sugar and then complain that they came out cakey. )

Ive made these brownies so many times to bring to picnics and other get-togethers. Nobody ever even knows theyre gluten-free! The same with my gluten-free chocolate cupcakes.

Seriously. You cant go wrong with this recipe. 🙂

King Arthur Gluten Free Fudge Brownie Mix

    PALEO BROWNIES | fudgy dairy-free & gluten-free brownies

    Flavor Rating: 4.5/5

King Arthur is one of the countrys most well-known wheat flour brands, so it came as a surprise to see them make a vegan, gluten-free brownie mix. That being said, King Arthur really perfected the mix and it has an amazing flavor, texture, and taste.

They feature a silky-smooth texture and a rich cocoa and fudge flavor that most people would only expect to find in a professional bakery. Plus, theyre incredibly affordable, unlike some of the more exclusively vegan brownie mixes on this list.

King Arthur uses a few simple ingredients, including cane sugar, cocoa, tapioca starch, rice flour, baking powder, salt, and natural vanilla flavor. While the ingredients may not be organic, they are all vegan .

    Pros:

    • Just seven ingredients. No additives.

    Tricks For The Best Gluten

The technique isnt fussy, but I have found that following a few ground rules really helps guarantee success. Here are my best notes after years of making and enjoying these almond flour brownies

  • LINE YOUR PAN WITH PARCHMENT. Lining the pan with parchment means your brownies will lift easily out of the pan. I highly recommend using it whenever possible so your brownies will cut neatly and wont stick to the pan.
  • WHISK THE EGGS + SUGAR LONG ENOUGH.WHISKING THE EGGS & SUGAR. You really dont want to rush or skip this step, since itll help you achieve that delightful crackly top and will give your gluten-free brownies a bit more structure. When you whisk them and lift up the whisk, the mixture should stream down pretty evenly in ribbons rather than in big lumpy clumps. Also, when you rub the mixture between clean fingers, you shouldnt feel much grit from the sugar. If youre not there yet, just keep whisking! Youll whisk for 2-3 minutes, or until the mixture is *slightly* lighter in color, streams down from the whisk in a smooth line , and doesnt feel gritty when rubbed between your fingers.
  • DO NOT SUBSTITUTE THE FLOUR. If you want to be sure your brownies turn out here, you MUST use almond flour. Substituting coconut flour, almond meal, or gluten-free all-purpose flour WILL NOT give you the same results.
  • Tips For Making This Gluten

These brownies are rich, fudgy, and super easy to make with just a few ingredients and one bowl. Here are my tips for making the best gluten-free dairy-free brownie recipe ever:

    • Substitute cane sugar for coconut sugar. This is key if you want to make this recipe refined-sugar free. Ive used coconut sugar and theyre just as delicious.
    • Be patient! Let your brownies cool for at least 30 minutes before lifting them out of the pan or cutting. I know its hard, but you can do it!
    • Powdered sugar is the real MVP. If you do happen to dive in too quick theres nothing like powdered sugar or icing to cover up your mistakes.
    • Sprinkle with chocolate chips before baking. Save a few chocolate chips to sprinkle across the top of the batter before you put these in the oven. Youll get that gooey, melted look when you cut into the brownies.
    • Flakey salt adds major flavor. Sprinkle a little on the brownies before baking for a flavor boost.
    • Keep em thick. In this recipe, an 8×8 pan is ideal.

I hope you enjoy these brownies as much as we didand if you have a favorite gluten-free dairy-free dessert, no gatekeeping! Share in the comments below.

Snacktivist Foods Vegan Double Dark Chocolate Brownie Baking Mix

    Flavor Rating: 5/5

Fudge brownies are all well and good and theyre great for sharing with others.

However, Ive always loved dark chocolate. While some dont appreciate the slight bitterness and prefer something sweeter, I enjoy the natural cocoa flavor. So, when I first saw these double dark chocolate brownies, I had to try them!

Snacktivist is a woman-owned company that focuses on making foods using ancient grains. Instead of the traditional wheat flour used by many vegan brownie mixes, these brownies use superfood flour made from blending millet, brown rice, ivory teff, and sorghum.

Not only are these grains healthier, but they create a rich, full-bodied texture that makes these brownies really stand out.

Like the brownie mix I mentioned above, this mix is formulated so that it doesnt need any eggs or even an egg substitute. Just a bit of oil and water! They do recommend adding a couple teaspoons of vanilla extract for added flavor, though.

The vegan brownies Ive mentioned on this list all taste better than any of the non-vegan alternatives that I tried prior to starting my vegan journey. This is mostly due to the fact that most vegan brownie mixes use superior-tasting organic ingredients, which makes a huge difference.

How To Make Gluten Free Brownies With Dates

The only sweetener needed for this brownie recipe is dates. Start by soaking 12 ounces of pitted dates in just boiled water for 15 minutes so they can soften up. Add the soft dates to a food processor with 1/4 cup of water and puree until smooth. Next, add 4 eggs to the machine, one at a time.

To make this brownie recipe gluten free, we used Bobs red mill paleo baking flour mix. Add flour to the food processor along with the coconut oil, cocoa powder, vanilla, salt, and baking powder. The brownies are also dairy free since we are using coconut oil.

Pour the batter into a prepared baking dish and dont forget to add some chocolate chips on top. Bake in the oven for 45 minutes at 350 degrees F or until a toothpick comes out clean.

    Recipe Step By Step Directions:

Step 2: In a smaller bowl, add the light cooking oil, eggs, vanilla, and non-dairy milk and mix the wet ingredients together.

Gradually add in the dry ingredients. Mix in the chocolate chips by hand with a large spoon.

Step 3: Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix well.

Step 4: See how fudgy this brownie batter is? You can see how chocolaty these will turn out! This is going to bake so amazingly good!
