Gluten Free Pumpkin Pancakes

Review of “Bob’s Red Mill Gluten Free Pancake Mix”

Folks tend to think that the fall season is the only time to indulge in pumpkin baked goods. Although autumn does lend to festive pumpkin fare, we like to think these Gluten Free Pumpkin Pancakes taste good any time of year! This recipe calls for our Gluten Free 1-to-1 Baking Flour and incorporates the sweet-smelling spices of cinnamon, nutmeg, pumpkin pie spice and ginger. This gluten free pancake recipe comes courtesy of Dani Krum from Dani Marie and its a wonderful one, indeed. Whether youre whipping up a batch for a slow morning at home, or to take on-the-go, these sweet little cakes pack a nutritional punch. To take these pancakes to the next level, try topping them with a homemade pumpkin whipped cream and an extra sprinkle of your favorite spice . Wrap up in your coziest sweater and bring on the flavors of fall with these delectable gluten free pancakes.

Flapjacked Gluten Free Buttermilk Pancake Mix

FlapJacked products have adorable packaging, and I had been meaning to try one of their gluten free products for quite a while. These protein pancakes are made with whey protein isolate, which is a favorite gluten free baking ingredient of mine.

This is not a traditional pancake mix, though, like King Arthur Flours mix or Pamelas for that matter. Its a protein pancake.

I do prefer my own protein pancakes recipe, by quite a lot. But since you dont have to add anything to this mix other than water, theyre a quick and easy alternative to scratch baking.

The pancakes are very puffy, and theyre not what I would call light and fluffy. But they have good taste, and each serving of about 3 pancakes has 20 grams of protein. And I really love protein-packed breakfast recipes, like my chewy protein cookies and peanut butter protein cookies.

Blueberry Vegan Protein Pancakes

This recipe for Blueberry Vegan Protein Pancakes comes to Bobs Red Mill courtesy of Emilie from Emilie Eats. We love that if you have a blender and a few extra minutes in the morning, you can whip up this easy vegan pancake recipe in no time. These pancakes are delicious, fluffy and packed with protein. Theyre also loaded with juicy blueberries and tons of plant-based fiber and protein. 1/2 cup of our Vanilla Protein Powder Nutritional Booster is the surprising ingredient that turns these little flapjacks into a powerhouse dish. We also love the addition of Gluten Free Rolled Oats and Flaxseed Meal for added nutrition. After youve stirred, poured, flipped and cooked, top these vegan pancakes with whatever youd like! You can serve them with just butter and maple syrup or get more creative with extra berries and nut butter.

King Arthur Flour Gluten Free Pancake Mix

Im leading with King Arthur Flour gluten free pancake mix because everyone in my family agreed that it was the best of the bunch. Since Ive never liked their all purpose gluten free flour , I was really very surprised.

Typically I find that King Arthur rice flour blends are gritty and contain way too much starch. This mix doesnt suffer from either of those limitations. Since the instructions call for having the batter sit for 10 minutes before you begin making pancakes, perhaps the rice flour softens just enough.

The pancakes werent super puffy like my buttermilk pancakes, but they were very light and fluffy. The taste of the pancakes alone, without any added sugar, honey or maple syrup, was really excellent. I really like this blend!

    Here are the other details:

    • Ingredients: whole grain brown rice flour, potato starch, tapioca starch, rice flour, cane sugar, baking powder , natural flavors, salt, vitamin and mineral blend , reduced iron, thiamin hydrochloride , riboflavin , xanthan gum.
    • Here is the recipe that I used, based on the package label:1 1/3 cups pancake mix1 large egg3 tablespoons melted butter1 cup milkWhisk together eggs, butter or oil, and milk. Whisk in the mix. Allow the batter to sit for 10 minutes to thicken. Preheat griddle to 350°F/medium. Scoop 1/4 cup of batter onto lightly greased griddle.Cook 1-2 minutes, until bubbles form on top and bottom is golden brown. Flip and cook for 1-2 minutes more. Serve hot.

Bob’s Red Mill | Gluten Free Pancakes | A Review

The kids love these! They are so good and I cant seem to make them fast enough. This easy gluten free pancake recipe is the best!

You will definitely want to freeze some for later. I absolutely love having some in the freeze for busy mornings. We have even served these for dinner.

    Birch Benders Paleo Just

Birch Benders Paleo pancake mix is the one mix in this list of 8 that I intend to do 2 exciting things with. I intend to buy it again . And I would like to try to recreate it at home.

I do already have a recipe for almond flour Paleo pancakes here on the blog. I also have one for coconut flour pancakes that are truly light and fluffy .

But I dont have a recipe for Paleo pancakes that uses cassava starch. Ive experimented a bit with Ottos Cassava Flour, but I havent fallen totally in love. And since its a starch, its not like its all that nutritious on its own.

But the pancakes I made with this Birch Benders Paleo pancake mix just taste so good in every way. Theyre very moist, and tender and just sweet enough without any toppings .

Theyre not very thick and fluffy, but they still manage to be super light. And perhaps my favorite part? You only have to add water to them to make pancakes.

Theres no need to mess with melting butter or getting eggs to room temperature. If you have the mix, some water, a skillet, and even a large measuring cup and whisk, you can have pancakes in minutes. Im so excited about this one!

Best Overall: Bob’s Red Mill Gluten

Bobs Red Mill has become somewhat synonymous with the alternative flour movementwith a full line of certified gluten-free productsso its no surprise this somewhat splurge-worthy gluten-free pancake mix could rival any standard gluten-containing version . This mixs primary ingredients include white rice flour, brown rice flour, potato starch, and whole-grain sorghum flour, producing fluffy, light pancakes with the addition of 2 eggs, milk, and oil .

The resealable packaging will keep the mix fresh in your pantry, so no need to worry about spoilage or spillage. This mix is also relatively low in sugar and boasts a decent amount of fiber, calcium, and protein.

Sure, you can get fancy with blueberries and chocolate chips and pumpkin puree, but sometimes nothing beats a stack of simple, classic buttermilk pancakes. All you need is water, milk, and an egg to get these light and fluffy Krusteaz cakes to the breakfast table. This mix is considered whole grain . Each box makes 28 4-inch pancakes and the product is made with real sweet cream buttermilk.

Can I Make These Pancakes Dairy

Yes. This gf pancake recipe works with buttermilk, dairy-free buttermilk , milk, or dairy-free milk.

I like to use buttermilk or a dairy-free buttermilk to make these gf pancakes because it makes them thicker but you can make gluten free dairy free pancakes using dairy free milk or my mock-buttermilk.

For thinner pancakes use milk, or a low fat dairy-free milk.

These gluten-free pancakes are a staple in our house. We tend to whip up a batch weekly, saving some in the freezer for later.

My girls like to enjoy them for breakfast and use them to make sandwiches. This might sound weird, but have you ever used gluten-free pancakes to make a sandwich? It’s pretty tasty.

Pamelas Gluten Free + Whole Grain Baking & Pancake Mix

Over the years that Ive been publishing recipes both here on the blog and in cookbooks, Ive been asked many times whether Pamelas pancake & baking mix can be used in place of all purpose gluten free flour in my recipes. Some readers have even reported having some success doing just that.

My response is always the same: Pamelas baking mix is a pancake mix. It contains a blend of flours, and it contains chemical leaveners. Because of that fact, it is not an all purpose flour blend. I havent tried Pamelas all purpose gluten free flour blend, though. I really should!

Since so many of you really love Pamelas baking mix so much, I wanted to include it here in this list of mixes to try. I have to be honest, though, and tell you that none of my 3 children liked the pancakes I made with Pamelas mix. They said that they were generally tasteless but the texture was okay.

I liked the pancakes quite a lot, personally. They definitely have more of a whole grain feel to them, and theyre not super light and fluffy like King Arthur Flour and Stonewall Kitchen. But I like the taste and texture.

I also like how widely available Pamelas baking mix is. In fact, in nearly every single grocery store that has a natural foods section, youll find a few bags of Pamelas mix.

Stonewall Kitchen Gluten Free Pancake Mix

My next favorite gluten free pancake mix is from Stonewall Kitchen . First and foremost, please be sure youre purchasing their gluten free pancake mix, based on the red gluten free stamp on the side.

And please note that the mix does not have a certified gluten free seal. If youre uncomfortable with this product because of the relative lack of proof of gluten free status, please dont purchase it.

All that being said, I decided to include this brand because its just simply really, really good. In fact, if it werent for the lack of certified gluten free status, it probably would have beat out King Arthur Flours mix for first place.

The pancakes turned out incredibly tender, not gritty at all , and not at all dense. I generally dont like most things that contain soy, since it tends to make baked goods tougher, but these pancakes are really quite perfect.
