Can These Be Frozen

5 Ingredient Chocolate Chip Cookies | Gluten Free Egg Free Dairy Free

Yes. We almost always have a dozen or two of these gluten free and dairy free cookies in the freezer at all times. They thaw so quick for a grab-and-go snack, road trip, or birthday party.

And we found traveling with these frozen and tightly packed is a great travel hack. That way they arrive at your destination unbroken and ready to be enjoyed.

Add A Tablespoon Of Milk

The next trick for this gluten-free cookie recipe is to add a tablespoon of milk. This helps to compensate for the liquid that evaporates from the butter during the browning process. It also helps the cookies get a golden color and prevents grittiness.

Gluten-free flour needs a little extra liquid for best results so you dont have chalky cookies.

Which Gluten Free Flour Is Best For Cookies

My all time favorite gluten free flour for cookies is Bob’s Red Mill 1-1 Ratio Gluten Free Flour. This is my own opinion, not paid or sponsored at all. I truly love their products in general but we always have at least 2 bags of this flour in our house.

I always like to do a combination of this gluten free flour and some almond flour. I have found that this really helps to lighten it up and give it a nice texture as well.

Something About A Fresh Homemade Chocolate Chip Cookie Is Heaven Sent

Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies (Gluten and Dairy Free)

But, I remember when I first started baking gluten-free exclusively and realizing that gluten-free cookies seemed so hard to make.. and they were NOT Heaven sent! A little crumbly, not quite the right texture. Ugh.

Over the last 6 years I have tried several different cookie recipes, making each gluten-free and altering them a bit for high altitude. I had narrowed it down to two favorites that I made gluten-free, from Gimme Some Oven and Pinch Of Yum. I loved BOTH recipes, so I thought why not combine them AND make them gluten-free?!

So, these gluten-free Chocolate Chip Cookies are inspired by those two fantastic blogs. Ive taken these cookies to dinner parties and Holiday events, and no one ever knows theyre gluten-free.

Crumbly, weird gluten-free cookies are a thing of the past . These simple cookies are the BEST gluten-free Chocolate Chip Cookies, in my humble opinion

What Is The Spoon And Level Method

This is so important to follow when using flour in any recipe.

Flour must be accurately measured for recipes to turn out. However many have been measuring flour inaccurately

For instance, if a recipe calls for one cup of flour, and you scoop the flour out of the bag with the measuring cup, you could end up with 1.25 times as much flour instead!

This can make a huge difference in the taste and appearance of recipes.

Instead spoon the flour out with a large spoon and level the top of the measuring cup by scraping a knife across the top.

What Should I Do When I Have Acquired A Chocolate Chip Cookies Gluten Free

In the event that my chocolate chip cookies gluten frees can be heard by a complete stranger, I am concerned. When mentioned to uninitiated persons, guns are viewed negatively.

The range trips we discuss make us seem like we are a part of some obscure club. Thanks for allowing me to assist. Feel free to contact me if you need any other assistance.

    Does Chocolate Include Gluten

If it is just chocolate, in its most basic form, then the majority of chocolate is gluten-free. The majority of chocolate chips and bars are suitable for gluten-free diets.

Check ingredient labels for potential hidden forms of gluten if you encounter chocolates with fillings or additional flavors or textures, such as crispy rice cereal.

    Cooking Time And Temperature

Dairy Free Chocolate Chip Cookies bake for 8-10 minutes in an oven preheated to 375 degrees Fahrenheit . The cookie sheet should be on an oven rack about one-third of the way from the top of the oven. The cookies should look a little underdone coming out of the oven.

The cookies on the left in this photo were baked 10 minutes, while the ones on the right baked 8 minutes:

They continue to firm up as they cool, so you dont want them to get too dark in the oven.

Let the cookies cool on the baking tray for 1-2 minutes before moving them to a wire rack to finish cooling. If using a dark baking sheet, youll want to get them off the sheet as soon as you can.

Dairy free chocolate chip cookies are delish warm or cold. Theyre great with a cold glass of your favorite dairy free milk alternative. Enjoy!

What Does Melted Butter Do To Chocolate Chip Cookies

When you put warmed cookie dough straight in the oven, the butter melts too quickly and the cookies spread a lot. Your cookies will be very thin and crispy with chewy middles. If you want a dense chocolate chip cookie, dont skip chilling the dough.

At the end of the chilling time, preheat the oven to 375F . Use a cookie scoop to put rounded tablespoons of chilled dough on a dark cookie sheet.

Make sure to leave enough space between the cookies. I usually only put 9 scoops of dough on the baking sheet at a time, and bake the cookies in multiple batches.

What Kind Of Cookies Are Gluten

You can make just about any type of cookie into a gluten-free cookie by substituting traditional all-purpose flour for gluten-free flour.

There are few types of cookies that are naturally gluten-free and need no replacement of flour, such as macaroons , macaron shells , flourless cookies , no bake cookies , and Im sure many more.

    Give The Dough A Rest

Vegan Chocolate Chip Cookies Recipe (Gluten

After you mix the dough altogether its important to give it a 30-minute rest. This gives the gluten-free flour time to hydrate and really makes a difference. Its key for non-gritty gluten-free cookies!

Luckily just a room temperature 30-minute rest will do and no overnight-in-the-fridge chill is needed. So you can still have chocolate chip cookies shortly after a craving strikes!

How To Ensure Chocolate Chip Cookie Success

Lets double-check all our cookie bases to ensure we have the most incredible life-changing gluten-free and dairy-free chocolate chip cookies.

  • Chill the cookie dough: This step is SO important. You will end up with flat chocolate chip cookies that spread everywhere unless you chill the dough for at least 2-3 hours. I recommend chilling overnight if at all possible. This time allows the dough to rest and the ingredients to fully absorb and incorporate together.
  • Big cookie dough scoops: An ultra big and thick cookie is made from ultra big and thick cookie dough balls. I used my 3-tablespoon cookie scoop and dropped each cookie ball onto the tray. Dont press the dough down or flatten it, leave each cookie dough ball nice and round.
  • Dont overbake the cookies: These gluten-free and dairy-free chocolate chip cookies are gloriously chewy and soft because they are ever-so-slightly underbaked when removed from the oven. The heat from the cookie pan will continue to bake these cookies after they come out so dont worry about them being raw.
  • Expert Tips From A Dietitian

This is a level 3 recipe . These dairy free chocolate chip cookies are just as indulgent as a regular chocolate chip cookie. Theyre not lower calorie or higher fiber, though they may be slightly lower in saturated fat .

Both butter and vegan butter are around 100 calories per tablespoon. Dairy free and regular chocolate chips are 70-80 calories per tablespoon.

If you dislike vegan butter because it is a highly processed food, you can substitute half the butter for coconut oil. This swap will actually make the cookies even higher calorie, as coconut oil is 120 calories per tablespoon.

If youre looking for dairy free cookies because you are lactose intolerant, keep in mind regular butter is very low in lactose. Chocolate chips with milkfat may be nearly lactose free as well. So, you may not need a cookie with special ingredients at all.

You could make the biggest nutritional impact by swapping the sugars for Swerve and using sugar free chocolate chips. This would save you a lot of calories and make these cookies lower carb.

To make keto dairy free chocolate chip cookies, you would need substitutes for the sugar and the flour. Some have success making chocolate chip cookies with almond flour or coconut flour. I dont tend to like the texture as much as regular cookies, but your taste may vary.

Why This Is The Best Gluten & Dairy

Everyone loves a good chocolate chip cookie straight out of the oven. The buttery cookie with bits of melted chocolate is irresistible, and this recipe gives you those same results minus the gluten and dairy.

Baking for food allergies can feel daunting at first. I know it was for me when my family went gluten-free, and one of my kids developed a dairy intolerance.

Its how I developed this recipe, along with many other allergy-friendly versions of our favorite foods. Ive learned a lot about gluten-free baking through trial and error, and today, I want to share those same tips with you in the form of this cookie recipe.

Four Ingredient Coconut Macaroons By Beaming Baker

Why we love them: Is there anything sweeter than the simplicity of a coconut macaroon? With just four ingredients, these come together in a flash and taste just like the real thing.

Hero ingredients: This recipe calls for small coconut shreds in order to get the tall, spherical shape that makes macaroons so crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. Just mix up the ingredients in a food processor and use an ice cream scoop to arrange dallops of batter on a sheet pan, bake and boom: youve got dessert in under 30 minutes!

    Vegan Chocolate Chip Cookie Ingredients

The one bowl recipe is easy to make using basic ingredients, with no almond flour or applesauce, and no coconut oil required.

For the flour: Try the cookies with spelt flour, oat flour, or regular white all purpose flour. I have not tried using whole wheat flour so cant vouch for that substitution. Be sure to leave a comment with results if you do try.

The fat source: Options that work include sunflower, coconut, or vegetable oil. Or sub a full fat vegan butter spread such as Melt Organic, Miyokos, or Earth Balance.

For the sweetener: Feel free to experiment with different types of sugar or sugar free alternatives such as xylitol or granulated erythritol.

You can also just use all of one type of sugar instead of two. The resulting cookies might be crunchy or spread more, or they might need more or less time in the oven, but edible baking experiments are the best kind of experiments!

How To Make Softer And Thicker Chocolate Chip Cookies

Vegan Chocolate Chip Cookies Recipe (Gluten

Its been almost 2 years since we originally posted this recipe, and in the spirit of creating the perfect allergy friendly cookie and always making improvements, we continued to experiment with different flour combinations for softer and thicker chocolate chip cookies.

We combined 2 different flours that created an even softer and thicker cookie and debuted this change with our Cranberry White Chocolate Chip Cookies!

If you like crispier and chewier cookies, you can stick with the recipe as written, but if you want a thicker cookie , then try this:

    • Swap the 1-1/2 cups gluten free all purpose baking mix for 1 cup of gluten free all purpose baking mix + 3/4 cup fine sorghum flour . Bake for 12 minutes.

Everything else stays the same in the recipe! Ill add this into the recipe card notes so if you print off the recipe, it will be there, too

Gluten Free Chocolate Chip Cookie Baking Notes

With our cookies, you can make them crispier or chewier/softer depending on what you like. If you want these more crispy, bake for about 12-13 minutes. If you want these more chewy in the middle, bake for just 10-11 minutes.

Since my husband loves crunchy cookies, heres another trick we like to do for extra crisp cookies: leave the cookies on the cooling rack longer and put them in a container that isnt airtight . This keeps the cookies crisp if thats your jam!

I like my chocolate chip cookies chewy in the middle and a bit crisp on the edges, so I just bake these for 10-11 minutes and store them in an airtight tupperware-type container to keep them from getting crunchy.

Youll notice that we didnt add any additional salt to this recipe since the King Arthur gluten free flour blend has salt in it already and the cookies also have baking soda.

If your gluten free all purpose flour doesnt have salt in it already, you can add 1/4 teaspoon of salt to these if you like.
