Common Mistakes On Low Carb
Caffe Latte: Note that there is a quite a lot of milk in this, and milk is around 5 percent carbs . To keep the carbs low, drink black coffee, or add a few teaspoons of milk or cream.
Juice and functional waters: Juice and many flavored waters contain a lot of sugar. Avoid them.
Fruit: Fruit is candy from nature and contains plenty of sugar. Its not nearly as bad as drinking juice, as the fiber in fresh fruit helps decrease the amount of sugar absorbed by the gut. But, because its still fairly high in carbs, fruit will have to be limited or avoided on a strict low-carb diet. A more liberal low-carb diet allows for a bit more fruit consumption. How To Make Perfect Low Carb Snacks On The Go
Theres a few key ingredients here to make these nutritionally balanced. Which Im really focusing on these days, because when you eat better, you feel better. So I try to add a little bit from each category of these key items:
- Veggies. Most people dont eat enough vegetables nowadays. I know Im guilty of this! So when I put together my low carb snacks on the go, I try to incorporate as many veggies as I can, in as many bright beautiful colors as I can. Not only do we eat with our eyes first, the veggies also have different nutrients, so varying the colors helps you get everything you need to feel your best.
- Protein. I always need a protein, or Ill be hungry an hour later. For this I try to choose things like boiled eggs , or cold cuts. In the low carb snacks on the go featured here I chose turkey, salami, and ham. I also paired these with cheese for some flavor. Ham and swiss, anyone?
- Healthy Fats. Healthy fats are a must if you want to feel full, plus theyre great for your skin! Today Ive chosen olives, a plant-based healthy fat option. You can also use avocados, or a drizzle of flax seed oil on your veggies.
- A small amount of carbs. These are low carb, not no carb. I like to have a few bites of something with carbs to help keep my energy levels up. Today I have a handful of gluten free crackers. You can also choose a healthy fruit like strawberries or grapes!
You can find them in the snack isle of your local grocery store, in all different flavors.
