One thing Ive learned about eating while camping is that being prepared goes a long way. Instead of bringing ingredients and doing your measuring and chopping at your campsite, try to do some of this work at home and only pack what youll need.

This can help you save some of the more expensive ingredients, like dairy-free cheese, from going bad while youre out on your trip. Doing this will also help save that much-needed space in your packed cooler too.

I added notes below about specific items to check, but its important to be extra careful when dealing with food allergies.

Sure we had people to bring us food, but most of our meals consisted of fast food for the first few months of her life, yikes! So with my son, I knew I wanted to be overly prepared.

Slow Cooker Salsa Verde Pork with Cilantro Rice This dish is made in the slow cooker which results in very tender and flavorful meat. It reminds me of the pork from Qdoba. Low Fodmap Khichdi Chicken And Rice

Love this recipe, it has fallen right in to my rotation. The chicken comes out great, browned on the outside without being dry on the inside. Only one pot to clean. I use homemade stock, brown rice, add whatever suitable extra veg I have, and toss in the tiniest pinch of cayenne to add a hint of heat. Lovely.

Gluten-Free Lunch Ideas for Kids and Adults

Want next level nachos? Heres a tip we learned while making this nachos recipe. To get our cheese a little gooier for the photo, we used a kitchen torch you know, the kind you use for creme brulee. Turns out, it infuses a delightfully smoky nuance into nachos! We assume most of you probably dont have one of these at home, but if you do: try running it lightly over the cheese. Its very, very good.

How To Make Freezer Taco Rice Casserole

We love taco night, just like the rest of the world, but sometimes we need our food to have more FOOD in it. With growing kids and busy schedules I need a dish that incorporates the deliciousness of tacos with the hardiness of a casserole loaded with carbs and protein. Over the years, we have mastered this dish. With less than 10 straightforward ingredients, its fast to whip together to toss in the freezer or in the oven.

First, youll brown your ground turkey and chopped onions. Drain any grease and add taco seasoning and water. Let cool.

In a large mixing bowl, combine two cans of diced tomatoes with green chilies, Tofutti dairy-free sour cream , ground turkey, rice, corn, black beans and Daiya dairy-free Mozzarella Shreds

Pour the mixture into two 9×13, greased pans and top with remaining cheese and chopped green onions.

Choosing The Right Foods For Gluten Dairy Sugar Free Lunches

Choosing Healthy Protein Sources

Protein is the bodys main building material, and probably the most important nutrient for the growing body. Choosing a quality source of protein is equally important.

Beef and Other Meats

Pasture-raised/grass-fed meats are best, and I would say 100% grass fed beef is even better than organic beef. Pasture and Grass fed cows produce omega 3s from the grass they eat. Cows fed corn and other animal feed produce Omega 6 fats which are inflammatory. This is also true for organic beef.

Organic does not mean grassfed. It simply means the animal was fed an organic feed. The healthiness of the beef depends on what the cow ate.

Lunch Meats

Traditional lunch meats are full of artificial ingredients, preservatives, ingredients derived from GMO corn, sugar, and nitrates, and according to many researchers and doctors are not part of a healthy diet.

Choose less processed meats and brands. Applegate is probably the best brand that is also widely available. Major brands now have natural versions of their deli meats as well, but still contain a lot of sugar and GMO derived ingredients.

If cant find Applegate or just cant stomach the extra costs, the natural lines are far better than traditional.

A Simple Guide To Using Dairy Substitutes

A guide to how to use dairy substitutes in cooking and baking. When you eliminate dairy from your diet, it can be confusing at first. Find out which dairy free substitutions will work best for you!

When you remove dairy from your diet, you may have a lot of questions.

What dairy substitutes are available? How do they taste?

Do they work well in cooking and baking? Were going to tackle these questions together today and take some of the mystery out of dairy substitutes.

Three and a half years ago I removed dairy from my diet to help soothe Baby Bees reflux. I remember being so confused about how to replace all the milk, ice cream, cheese, and butter that I loved so much.

I think the first dairy substitute I bought was a pint of coconut milk ice creampriorities, right? ) As I got used to the idea of no dairy, I ventured out and started trying different products. First non-dairy milks, then non-dairy butter, and then eventually non-dairy cheese.

Since Baby Bees reflux got SO much better once I eliminated dairy, it was easy for me to stick to my new diet. I got comfortable cooking and baking without dairy, and now I dont miss dairy at all. There are so many wonderful dairy substitutes on the market today. You dont have to feel deprived.
