How Does The Melting Pot Work

When you arrive at the restaurant, you will be seated at a table with a cooktop. The number of cooktops on the table dictates the number of fondue pots you can have going at one time. So, if you have one cooktop, everyone at the table will need to agree on the same cheese and chocolate fondues and cooking styles.

If you have two cooktops, you can have two different cheese fondues, chocolate fondues, and cooking styles going simultaneously .

You will order your meal and your server will prep the fondues at your table. Each fondue will come with dippers for eating.

Cheese fondues are served with artisan bread, seasonal fruit, and veggies entrees are served with seasonal vegetables . Chocolate fondue has a tray of sweet treats and fruit . You can ask for more dippers, but an additional charge may incur.

How much does it cost to eat at the Melting Pot? We mentioned that the Melting Pot menu prices can be a little high. Be prepared to spend around $50 per person dining. But when you consider how good the food is and what you get for your money, they start to look a little more reasonable. For instance, their The Classic main dish costs a fraction under $40, but it includes all of the following:

  • Certified Angus Beef Sirloin
  • Herb-Crusted Chicken Breast
  • Teriyaki-Marinated Sirloin

Why The Melting Pot Menu Makes Sense Being Gluten Free

The Melting Pot is the perfect setup for people on a gluten free diet. If you are not familiar with how they operate, you are the chef!

You cook or dip everything at your table. This eliminates a level of cross contamination concern that you have in a typical restaurant kitchen. They just need to get your food from the kitchen to your table. They are so confident that your food wont be cross contaminated that they went the extra mile to get validated! I can get down with that!

The Melting Pot History

Chocolate Lava Cake – Instant Pot Chocolate Lava Cake with gluten free option available

The first Melting Pot restaurant opened in 1975, just outside of Orlando, Florida. It was a small restaurant, with a small menu and a cozy aesthetic. To begin with, the only three menu items were Swiss Cheese Fondue, Beef Fondue and Chocolate Fondue. But as the restaurant grew in popularity, so did its menu.It wasnt until 1981 that the second restaurant opened, this time in Tampa. A few years later, a franchise operation was put in place and the brand grew at a rapid pace from there. These days there are around 150 locations in over 30 states and several countries.

It might not be the biggest or the most well known food chain, but its one of the most respected and the most unique. And when it comes to fondue, it doesnt get much better than The Melting Pot.

What Should You Order At The Melting Pot How Much Is The Melting Pot For Two

My friend, have it all. There are two versions of the four-course dinner for two. One runs $99 and the other $115.

The second one comes with fancier proteins but the experience is chiefly the same.

You can also add a lobster tail to any entrée for $16.

The cheese fondues

You begin with the cheese course.

Im a traditionalist. I either have the Wisconsin Cheddar or the Classic Alpine. Both are delicious.

Youre given a variety of breads, fresh fruits and veggies to dip into your delicious, melty cheese.

You may be given something that you think should not be dipped in cheese. You will be wrong. Dip it. DIP IT!

There are other cheese options available like Fiesta , Spinach Artichoke and Loaded Baked Potato Cheddar. Id like to tell you I wont judge you if you order these, but my right eyebrow involuntarily arched when I typed the sentence about loaded baked potato cheddar.

We live in modern times and I support your right to choose what makes you happy. If my eyebrows disagree, well all just have to live with it.

The salads

Second, you choose a pair of salads well one each. They used to have one that was made almost entirely of mushrooms. It is gone. The world is a cold, cruel place.

Salad options include Melting Pot House, California, Caesar and Wisconsin Wedge.

The main entrees

There is also a cast-iron grill option, apparently, but even thinking about that sets my eyebrows a-dancing.

The desserts

Your final course of the evening is dessert.

What Country Does Fondue Come From

Fondue was a worldwide phenomenon that I entirely missed out on when I was a kid. By the 90s, fondue was almost strictly in the realm of the corduroy jacket crowd.

Fondue is to melt or fondre in French. But the origin of the food is Swedish.

But Mrs. Clemens loved us and so, she taught us the way of fondue.

The Melting Pot was already a thing by then. They even had one in Cincinnati. And while doing fondue at home was on the outs, date night at The Melting Pot was smooth.

And so for many reasons, all these years later, I have a fondness for the Melting Pot that would border on irrational if it wasnt so dang good.

Fondue is the perfect comfort food during the holidays. It makes a great appetizer for family gatherings or special event. Serving this cheesy fondue with chocolate fondue is the perfect pairing that the family will love.

I find that any type of cheesy appetizer is always a crowd pleaser which is why my sour cream chip dip is another go-to recipe. I also love making my instant pot artichoke dip or a grazing table for larger crowds.

You can dip a variety of things in melted cheese but I love gluten-free biscuits or gluten free crackers. The combination of crunch and ooey gooey cheese is unbeatable!

Melting Pot Vegan Desserts

Instant Pot Beef and Broccoli | Keto and Gluten Free Options

As with the rest of the menu, we can see one available vegan option here as well which is pleasantly surprising considering that not all places offer vegan desserts, like El Pollo Loco for example. This fully plant-based dessert is simple yet so delicious and wont leave you dissatisfied.

  • Chocolate fondue This dark chocolate fondue is served with fresh strawberries, bananas, pineapple, blackberries, and raspberries. Hands down my favorite.

Melting Pot Vegan Appetizers

Does Melting Pot offer any appetizers to vegans? Well, the short answer to that is: Yes. However, not many options here as theres only one but the appetizer that they do have is every cheese lovers dream come true.

  • Vegan cheese fondue Made using shredded cheddar cheese, Redbridge gluten-free beer, garlic, and different spices. This cheese fondue is served with freshly cut apples, various veggies, french bread, and my personal favorite: the pretzel bread.

Good news to our vegan friends who also prefer to avoid gluten, the vegan fondue is fully gluten-free and gluten-free dippers can be requested to go with it. How cool is that? Kudos to Melting Pot, they are truly paying attention to the details here.

Melting Pot Menu Gluten Free Options

On their website, The Melting Pot does not list out their menu which I do find surprising. Maybe Im missing it, but from a user experience perspective, its not easy to find if its there.

With that said, do not let the lack of a menu online discourage you. Their gluten free page does state that GF labels are on their menu. I can confirm that. Their staff was attentive and quickly answered all our questions.

They have gluten free substitutes for all their dishes. Im talking gluten free bread, cookies, and brownies! We were not disappointed.
