Can I Use Blue Cheese Instead Of Ranch Dressing

Yes, you can substitute Blue Cheese instead of Ranch. Blue cheese is a thicker consistency and going to have a much bolder flavor, with chunks of pungent blue cheese. Whereas ranch is a smoother consistency and has a more mild flavor.

I feel like a lot of people either love one and hate the other, so go with whichever one you love. If you love to dip your wings in blue cheese then, by all means, give this variation a try.

I personally havent tried this way yet, but I have heard of a lot of others trying it and having good success with it. Leave me some comments and let me know what you think.

Ingredients You Need To Make Buffalo Chicken Dip

Chicken I use 20 oz of canned chicken which I find to be so easy and delicious too. Or you can use a rotisserie chicken already cooked which also will make it easy and fast. But if you prefer taking raw chicken and boiling and shredding it be my guest.

Buffalo Sauce My favorite is Franks Red Hot Buffalo Sauce. You can use your favorite one, but just make sure its Buffalo and not just regular hot sauce.

Ranch Dressing I always use Hidden Valley Ranch, just you might have another one you prefer, and thats totally fine. The ranch makes it creamy and cools down the heat of the buffalo a bit. If youre like me who doesnt love super spicy, thats an important ingredient and use liberally.

Cream Cheese I love cream cheese based dips and how they come out. Soften your cream cheese first, it will make it easier to work with.

Mozzarella Cheese I prefer to use mozzarella because its a mild flavor and it makes the dip so nice and stringy. You can use a different kind if you want, but I wouldnt choose one that has too strong of a flavor, you dont want it to overpower the other ingredients.

Make The Gluten Free Buffalo Chicken Dip In The Slow Cooker

One of my favorite ways to make this buffalo chicken dip is in the slow cooker. Use the slow cooker if you want your chicken dip warm and readily available for you and your guests all day long. By cooking in the crock pot your home will smell so good and it will stay warm without burning. The crock pot buffalo chicken dip is perfect for get togethers or any special occasion.

Gluten free buffalo chicken dip slow cooker style is SO easy. Add all of the ingredients and cook on high for 30 minutes before stirring. By then your cream cheese will have softened, your mozzarella cheese will start to melt and it will start to get creamy enough. Add the lid back on and cook on high for an additional 30 minutes to an hour longer until the dip has heated through. Be sure to stir at least every 30 minutes to keep it from burning.

Alternatively, you can cook the gluten free buffalo chicken dip on low in the slow cooker. If using the low setting, cook with the lid on for 3-4 hours until its completely warmed through. Stir frequently to make sure theres no burning going on.

If the dip is getting too hot or if you just want to not worry about it for a while, place it on the warm setting and then dig in. This is a great and effortless way to enjoy the dip. Serve with tortilla chips or celery sticks as a low carb alternative.

There are lots of yummy options you can serve with a great buffalo chicken dip like this one, both low carb and non-low carb options:

For your Low Carb guests:

  • Carrot Sticks

For your other guestsNOT eating low carb:

  • Tostitos
  • Fritos
  • Crackers

I recently just started eating it with celery sticks, and surprisingly I loved it! Its the perfect crunch for this dip without the carbs!!

Another way to keep it low carb, is by serving it in a lettuce cup. I personally havent tried it yet, but Ive heard lots of good things from other people who have.

Whether you are using veggies sticks or some type of cracker or chip, try and make sure that they are sturdy. No one likes to dip something have it break while still in the bowl. Right?? I know I hate it!

Why Is It Healthy

Baked Buffalo Chicken Dip {Gluten

The word healthy is relative to each person, but I consider this buffalo chicken dip to be healthy for many reasons. Everyone will love it, and no one will be able to tell it is lightened up!

  • Low fat & high protein. The base of this dip is Greek yogurt, which makes it lower in fat, higher in protein, and lower in calories.
  • Reduced cream cheese. We only use 1/3 cup of low-fat cream cheese, while classic recipes use 1 cup of full fat cream cheese.
  • Less cheese. We use a mixture of nutritional yeast and shredded cheese to get that super cheesy taste with half the amount of cheese traditional recipes call for.
  • Fits in your diet. This chicken dip is gluten free, keto, and low fat.

What Do I Need To Make Dairy Free Buffalo Chicken Dip

    • Chicken breasts- You can use chicken tenders, but make sure the tendons are pulled out.
    • Buffalo sauce-This is my favorite pre-made buffalo sauce brand. You can use the store-bought or you can make your own. I talk about making my own buffalo sauce in this recipe.
    • Mixed spices-The onion and garlic powder in combination with the paprika add the perfect kick to the recipe.
    • Kite hill cream cheese-This acts as your cheese in this recipe. The Kite Hill Brand is by far my favorite. It is made out of almonds and super rich in taste. I have not tested this recipe with other dairy free cream cheese brands. I presume they would work but I am not sure if the taste would be quite the same.

Do I Have To Use Canned Chicken

    Healthy Buffalo Chicken Dip

No, you dont have to use canned chicken to make this keto buffalo chicken dip recipe. I stocked up on canned goods a few months ago when 2020 seemed so uncertain and this dip is a great way to use up some of the canned chicken I purchased. No one can tell if I made this with canned chicken.

Its an easy and quick option that allows you to make an easy buffalo chicken dip with very little planning or notice.

I recommend using cooked chicken breast, shredded chicken, cooked chicken thighs, or rotisserie chicken if you dont want to use canned. Additionally, you could also use turkey or other kinds of meat for some unique variety too.
