Pizza Hut Gluten Free Pizza Review – A Must Watch!

Pizza Hut is a popular pizza chain and franchise that started in Wichita, Kansas in 1958. It was started by Dan and Frank Carney, and has since grown into an international business spanning the globe.

From their about page: In 1958, two brothers borrowed $600 from their mom to open a pizza place in Wichita, Kansas. They named it Pizza Hut, because their sign only had room for eight letters. How profound!

Soon, the restaurant grew. Why? The pizza was awesome. The service felt like home. And the customers were treated like family.

And weve been delivering that same food and service ever since.

Is Pizza Huts Gluten Free Pizza Safe For Celiacs

Pizza Huts gluten-free pizza is NOT safe for Celiacs or people with a severe gluten allergy/intolerance.

The main reason for this is that Pizza Huts kitchens are NOT gluten-free environments and, as such, there is a super high risk of cross-contamination.

In fact, other than a separate pizza cutter and crust, there is no other special equipment or procedures in place to protect against gluten cross-contamination.

And, in Pizza Huts defense, they never claimed to be a Celiac-safe environment. They only offer a gluten-free crust as an option for those who wish to minimize their gluten intake for dietary reasons.

Therefore, we do not recommend this crust for individuals with celiac disease.

Classic Marinara Pizza Sauce

The classic marinara pizza sauce is a great option for those who are looking for a traditional pizza sauce. It is made with tomatoes, garlic, and onions.

The sauce is slightly sweet and has a bit of a tang to it. I love this sauce on my gluten-free pizza.

It reminds me of the homemade sauce I often make at home.

You Can Have Safe Gluten

Luckily, you dont have to have a pizza with just water soft drinks are gluten-free. Although they have another issue, the significant sugar content, you can opt for diet soft drinks like Diet Coke, Coke Zero, and Pepsi Max.

Otherwise, drinks like Mountain Dew, Fanta, and Sierra Mist are safe for consumption and pretty delicious drink partners for your gluten-free, nutritious pizza.

Enjoy Pizza Huts Gluten Free Offering

Pizza Hut was one of those pizza companies that quickly saw a need and moved to fill it they only failed in that they didnt start providing it sooner, or more universally. What they did correctly was ensuring that when their gluten-free pizza crust is available that its available for every pizza they offer. Pizza Hut is one of our favorite GF pizza stops, and we hope to see them expand their size options to go with the GF pizza.

When Mark First Came To Visit Me While I Was At University In Manchester Pizza Hut Was The First Place That Me And Mark Went To For Lunch Funnily Enough Mark Had Never Been To Pizza Hut Before So I Was More Than Happy To Educate Him But Get This Now You Can Get Gluten Free At Pizza Hut So Heres My Review

After multiple salad bar trips, a glorious pizza arrived, loaded with cheese and proudly adorned with a truly epic amount of topping! They were so huge that we even had some to take home with us We even continued our Pizza Hut tradition when I moved to Brighton and we regularly stopped by when we were at home in Colchester.

I should probably mention that this was 7 years ago, long before I couldnt eat gluten. Since experiencing digestive issues me and Mark had to sadly part ways with our little Pizza Hut tradition and we sort of just stopped going out for pizza all together.

So back here in the present day, I was over the moon to be invited to go gluten free at Pizza Hut! In case you didnt know already, Pizza Hut restaurants across the UK are now accredited by Coeliac UK and all have a lovely gluten free base at the ready. Me and Mark were quick to oblige and immediately headed down for a gluten free at Pizza Hut dinner. Heres my review

The two of us are a formidable test for any restaurant as, apart from myself who cannot consume gluten, Mark is also lactose-intolerant. Im always happy to recommend any restaurant who can cater for us both without making us feeling like problem customers. You can usually find us walking from restaurant to restaurant, frowning at menus due to the lack of options for the both of us! Most places are often stubborn with adapting dishes too.

If You Have A Gluten Sensitivity The Wings Arent For You But Theres A Lot That Is

Its tough to decide on what to get at Pizza Hut when everything that looks and seems delicious might make you feel awful afterward. No one deserves to feel bad after eating food, so luckily, Pizza Hut is one of the restaurants that understands that and offers a variety of meals and menus.

You can skip the wings when you get there, but if youre OK with dairy, try the gluten-free cheese pizza with nachos and a Coke Zero. Itll be a great, filling meal and youll have wished you had seconds because youll be feeling great afterward.

Id also strongly recommend you consider the Create Your Own Pizza option since itll be your best bet you will have all the safe and tasty ingredients on your plate without worrying about hidden products and nutrition. Since thats available, ensure you use it to your advantage.

Soon A Third Of Us Pizza Huts Will Sell Gluten

About 2,400 of the 6,300 Pizza Hut locations in the U.S. will start selling gluten-free cheese and pepperoni pizza, beginning on Jan. 26. While Pizza Hut has tested gluten-free crusts in countries such as Australia, this is the chain’s first domestic rollout of gluten-free pizza.

While Domino’s has been selling pizza with gluten-free crust since 2012, Pizza Hut will be the first major pizza chain with a pie that is certified gluten-free. To make sure that the pizza met the qualifications of a gluten-free food, Pizza Hut partnered with Udi’s Gluten Free Foods and the Gluten Intolerance Group to create the new menu item.

Pizza Huts Gluten Free Pizza Review

After studying their GF menu and getting more acquainted with the nitty-gritty details, we randomly chose one of our local Pizza Huts and popped in to see what the actual preparation is like for gluten-free pizza orders.

We decided to order the Veggie Lovers on the gluten-free crust. The pizza was ready in 15 minutes and was handed to us in a special box that they use for gluten-free orders.

Based on our order, here is each aspect of our gluten-free pizza experience at Pizza Hut in more detail:

    The Employees & Pizza Preparation

The employees were pretty nice but didnt have much knowledge of gluten-free specifics beyond the obvious.

They knew about the menu and that a separate cutter must be used for gluten-free pizzas, but that was about it. We didnt get the vibe that they had any extra training on allergens for more in-depth questions.

As for the preparation, unlike the open kitchen concept at Blaze, Pieology, or MOD Pizza restaurants, pizzas are prepared on counters away from the customers sight.

So, you will just have to trust that all the right procedures, if any, are being followed to keep the pizzas as gluten-free as possible.

Again, in Pizza Huts defense, they do have a disclaimer that their kitchens are NOT gluten-free and cant guarantee against cross-contamination.

So, we settled for the only three things they offered: Udis GF crust, the use of a separate pizza cutter, and a different to-go box.

Pizza Hut Gluten Free Crust Option

The only gluten-free crust option at Pizza Hut is Udis 10 premade GF crust. So, essentially, youll be eating Pizza Huts toppings on Udis crust which is also sold in select grocery stores in the frozen aisle.

That said, theres no proprietary secret sauce to tell you about with respect to this crust.

But, since were on the topic, lets look at whats made of and what the numbers are.

    Is Sourdough Gluten Free

    What

Wheat sourdough bread may contain less gluten than regular yeast bread, but its not gluten-free. If youre on a gluten-free diet for celiac disease, regular sourdough bread isnt safe. Instead, buy sourdough bread made with gluten-free grains or invest a few days and activate your own gluten-free sourdough starter.
