Here Are Some Tips So Your Wraps Turn Out Perfectly:
Blend, blend, BLEND! The better your ingredients are combined, the easier it will be to fry the wraps. You don’t want to end up with mozzarella clumps that take ages to melt.
Flaxseed has a tendency to absorb liquid. If you find your batter is getting too thick towards the end of preparing your wraps, add another splash of water.
Medium heat works best. If you use butter to fry, clean the pan between wraps to ensure it does not burn.
You could customise your wraps with spices – cumin would work well, or paprika, garlic powder, onion powder or even cayenne pepper.
Flaxseed Low Carb Wraps
October 21, 2018· Updated on September 16, 2020 By Katrin Nürnberger
These easy flaxseed low carb wraps contain less than 1g net carbs per wrap! They’re wheat free, gluten free and pliable – perfect for a Keto diet.
I’ve always loved wraps – to me, they are a more fun version of a sandwich
Once I decided to wave goodbye to wheat tortillas and other carb-loaded wraps, I sampled a few low carb brands such as Carbzone or Mission. They are fine for emergencies – but if you are after natural ingredients AND good taste, you better make your own!
These low carb wraps are inspired by Dr. William Davis’ linseed wrap , which is one of the recipes listed in the back of his book Wheat Belly. My version adds, amongst other changes, a Keto favourite – mozzarella. It makes the end product even more pliable and very tasty indeed.
The star of this recipe is flaxseed. Friends, it’s a true superfood! It’s high in omega-3 fatty acids and fibre, it improves cholesterol, lowers blood pressure and keeps hunger at bay.
I have made these Keto wraps many times now. Since I first posted them in February 2017, I’ve tweaked the recipe a bit to make the batter more liquid. This makes them easier to fry and they actually taste even better. It was time to re-write the post and pass my tips on to you!
What Is Celiac Disease
Whilst we are here its important to note that the gluten-free market originated out of necessity to cater to those with celiac disease. celiac disease is an autoimmune condition caused by the presence of gluten which leads to the sufferers immune system attacking healthy tissue resulting in serious side effects.
Its estimated that 1 in every 100 people suffers from celiac disease but only 30% are formally diagnosed. Symptoms of celiac disease can range from the mild to the sever and can also come and go which can make it very difficult for people to realize they have the condition. Some of the most common symptoms of celiac disease include:
- Diarrhea which is caused by malabsorption because the body cannot absorb nutrients properly with a damaged gut.
- Abdominal pain such as stomach cramps and bloating, which also often comes with excess flatulence
- Constipation some sufferers experience the opposite of diarrhea and will feel constipated instead.
- Fatigue tiredness is often caused because of iron deficiency and B12 anemia
- Weight loss caused because the body cannot properly digest and absorb nutrients from food.
- Skin conditions because those suffering from celiac disease are in a constant state of immune response they may also see rashes and skin conditions, especially on their elbows, buttocks, wrists and neck.

Freezing Healthy Low Carb Wraps
These wraps are suitable for freezing once made. Seal them individually as they will stick together if placed on top of each other and you wont be able to separate them. Note that when you make the dough, allow it to rest for about 10-20 minutes before rolling it out. I wouldnt advise you leaving the dough for an extended period of time though as it will lose its tackiness and become too hard to roll out.
Best Low Carb Tortillas To Buy
There are some good low carb tortilla options that you can buy if you dont have the time to make your own. Here are some that I recommend:

Secondly, you need to know for how long you will be keeping the tortilla in your pantry. The duration of keep will depend on whether it is a flour or corn tortilla.
The corn tortillas have more shelf life of up to 10 days after the best by date. This is when you perfectly stored it in the pantry. They can also last for up to 8-months in the freezer.
For the flour tortillas, it can only last for up to 4 weeks when stored in the freezer. When kept in the pantry, expect them to last for just a week after the best-by date.

Fun Extra Equipment To Make Your Almond Flour Tortillas
If youre curious about the equipment that I used, above youll find the Presto 15 Tilt-n-Fold Griddle . I absolutely love this griddle for its size and the shape and use it for everything I can these days. Its so easy to store, heats very evenly and was really reasonably priced.
The 6-inch cake cutter that I used to get neat edges on the tortillas is a very useful little trinket to have in the kitchen, but its totally not necessary at all. The lid of a pot works great for the same purpose, or rough edges left intact are of course perfectly fine!
Storing And Freezing Low Carb Tortillas

How To Make Keto Sandwich Wraps
Begin by laying out a piece of ham and a piece of turkey. I have found the turkey falls apart, so ham is must for this wrap. overlap the two pieces of deli meat. Lay a slice of cheese over the middle of the overlapped area. Then continue with the normal sandwich toppings like lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, or avocado. Finish the low carb club wrap off with the bacon. No keto club rollups are complete without bacon.
Finally, drizzle with ranch dressing or mayonnaise.
Then begin rolling the wraps up with the meat that is on the bottom. Slowly wrap and make sure the parts and pieces all stay inside the rollups.
These keto club rollups will quickly become one of your favorite lunches. Feel free to change it up and use lots of different toppings. Spinach or onions would be good additions. These would be great with different kinds of cheese too. Provolone or Havarti cheese tends to be my first picks but Swiss or cheddar could be good on these low carb club wraps too.

Faqs About These Keto Tortillas
What kind of tortillas are keto friendly?
Any tortilla that is low in carbs and high in fiber is keto friendly. Since these low carb tortillas have 5 grams of carbs and 3.5 grams of fiber, they are super keto friendly, coming out to only 1.5 net carbs. A few brands make keto friendly tortillas, but with everything, make sure you read the nutrition label to check out the net carbs. Some great keto friendly tortillas that you can buy from the store are these carb count balance ones from Mission.
Are corn tortillas Keto friendly?
Corn tortillas are delicious, but they are unfortunately not keto friendly. Corn tortillas typically use either whole grain corn or corn masa flour as their main ingredient, and both of these ingredients are carb heavy. The tortillas can have anywhere from 20 grams of carbs to 45 grams of carbs, so corn tortillas are definitely not keto friendly.

Can I Swap The Almond Flour
Almond flour has been getting a bad rap lately in the keto space. Some say because it is high in Omega-6, eating all your keto baked goodies made with almond flour may cause you to have an imbalance of Omega-3 to 6 ratios, which may cause inflammation.
But who eats baked goods all day anyway? Even if they are keto, I don’t eat almonds, almond butter or almond flour on a daily basis, do you? My approach to eating a keto diet, is with whole, real foods in their natural state, think single ingredient foods like avocados, grass-fed beef, broccoli, eggs etc.
My food doesn’t consist of daily doses of almond flour, so for me almond flour is still a great low carb keto flour. If you have a nut allergy you should be able to swap the almond flour with sunflower seed flour in the same amount, though I have not tested this out.

Tips To Make The Best 90 Second Bread
- Microwave makes and models differ. Mine has an 800 wattage, and 90 seconds is perfect. If yours is more powerful, reduce the microwaving time by 20 seconds.
- Toasting the bread once it has been microwaved is highly recommended. It crisps the edges and gives it a gorgeous golden brown exterior, while still being fluffy in the middle.
- Feel free to add your favorite herbs and spices, or even some shredded cheese.
- Keep things simple by simply adding some homemade almond butter and keto jam.
