Fruits With Peels And Pits

Fiber One Cereal Product Review

Grapes, apricots, apples, figs and pears are all excellent sources of fiber. You can also go the dried fruit route and get a fiber boost from raisins, dates and dried apricots. It has been easiest to up my fruit intake by replacing desserts and snacks with fruit as much as possible. Fruit salad with some high fiber fruits, chopped walnuts, and crystalized ginger chips is a super tasty treat.

Some extra tips: To make sure that your added fiber is as effective as possible, drink plenty of water and make moderate exercise a part of your routine ! Also, if your fiber intake is very low, start out gradually. Our bodies are sensitive to change and overloading your system with fiber could potentially cause some discomfort. Try adding a few grams at a time until you’re up to the recommended daily level.

Fiber One Cereal Ingredients

The two kinds of cereal produced by Fiber One are Original Bran and Honey Clusters.

Both are fortified with vitamins and minerals, but with one of the biggest non-vegan culprits vitamin D3 being missing from both, there is less to worry about.

Still, it is never easy to determine exactly where their ingredients are derived from, but we can get a sense as to how vegan-friendly they are from the label.

Here is the ingredient profile for Fiber One Original Bran:

Whole Grain Wheat, Corn Bran, Modified Wheat Starch, Color , Guar Gum, Cellulose Gum, Salt, Baking Soda, Sucralose, Natural Flavor.

Vitamins and Minerals: Calcium Carbonate, Vitamin C, Iron and Zinc , A B Vitamin , Vitamin B6 , Vitamin B1 , Vitamin B2 , A B Vitamin , Vitamin B12.

There is nothing concerning here so it is safe to say that Original Bran is vegan. The inclusion of guar gum is particularly good to see as this is a thickening agent made from legumes and used in place of gelatin.

There are also no artificial colors that are tested on animals or sugar that could have been processed with bone char.

Time to take a look at Fiber One Honey Clusters:

Whole Grain Wheat, Oat Cluster , Corn Bran, Sugar, Rice Flour, Wheat Bran, Corn Syrup, Salt, Honey, Corn Starch, Malt Syrup, Tripotassium Phosphate, Brown Sugar Syrup, Natural Flavor, Acesulfame Potassium, Sucralose.

Why Youll Love This Homemade Version Of Cracklin Oat Bran

  • The cereal that is sold on the shelves of grocery stores has more ingredients than the homemade version. It also contains wheat bran, wheat starch, and malt flavoring therefore prohibiting it from being gluten-free. The homemade copycat Cracklin Oat Bran recipe cuts out palm, palm kernel and/or soybean oil with TBHQ, and soy lecithin.
  • There are no eggs or dairy products in this, so if you must sample a little before it goes in the oven it should be okay.
  • You can use a food processor to make this irresistible cereal. It helps to blend the ingredients much better than a mixer or blender would.
  • Its versatile. You can cut it into bite-sized cereal pieces or shape it into granola bars.

What Cereal Can You Eat If You Are Gluten

Look for two things to determine if the cereal is gluten-free. First, the box needs to say Gluten-free. Second, cereals made from corn, white or brown rice, quinoa, amaranth, buckwheat, sorghum, millet, teff, and gluten-free oats are most likely gluten-free. Always read the ingredients label. If there are any wheat components or it has malt flavor, it will probably not be gluten-free.

If in doubt, just go with one of the cereals mentioned in this post.

Bobs Red Mill Gluten Free Muesli

General Mills Fiber One Original Cereal

One of the new products that Ive been wanting to try is Bobs Red Mill Gluten Free Muesli. I love uncooked oats, and am excited to have a gluten free cereal option that features them. The dietary fiber per serving is not impressive just 2 grams for a 1/4 c., 29 gram serving.
