You can use any type of Crown Royal in this drink. There are lots of flavor variations that could work, like Apple, Peach, Vanilla, Black, and so forth. We wouldnt recommend using the Maple Crown Royal here, though: its flavor is overpowering.

Diageo-owned Canadian whisky brand Crown Royal has unveiled its first ready-to-drink cocktail range to meet demand for convenient formats.
The new canned ready-to-drink line comprises: Washington Apple, Whisky and Cola, and Peach Tea. Each expression has an ABV of 7% and is recommended served chilled.
Washington Apple combines Crown Royal whisky with apple and sparkling cranberry flavours, while Peach Tea is a blend of Crown Royal, peach flavour and brewed tea.
The brand said the launch of the new range bridges the gap between loyal whisky fans and cocktail enthusiasts.

Is there gluten free alcohol? Yes! Liquors like rum , tequila and brandy are not made with gluten, so they are safe for celiacs and others with gluten sensitivity.
Distilled grain alcohols including vodka, bourbon, whiskey, scotch, brandy, and gin ARE gluten free even though they are made with gluten containing grains. The distillation process actually removes the gluten protein from the end product, so unless the manufacturer adds gluten as a flavoring AFTER distillation, those liquors are indeed gluten free.
Let me repeat that in case it was unclear: A PROPER DISTILLATION REMOVES GLUTEN PROTEINS. Therefore, even though grain alcohols may have started out with wheat or barley or rye, after distillation the process that transforms them into liquor they no longer contain gluten. Period.
Check with the manufacturer directly if you are concerned that gluten in flavoring may be added after distillation many, like Frangelico, for example, are proactively declaring on their websites that their formulas are gluten free.
Distilled alcohol choices made only from gluten free grains like corn or potato also exist, for those with wheat or barley allergy or those who wish to drink naturally gluten free liquor.

Additionally, theres a risk of cross-contamination if the whiskey is processed in a facility that handles gluten-containing ingredients.
Whats more, gluten-containing ingredients may be added to whiskey after distillation, such as undistilled grain mash for flavor or caramel coloring made from barley malt.
Unfortunately, its often impossible to tell if these ingredients were added by simply looking at the bottle. Therefore, the best way to know whether a product is safe to consume is by contacting the distillery directly.
Plus, when it comes to mixed drinks, its important to check with your bartender to make sure that all of the ingredients used are gluten-free.
