How To Make This Recipe

High Protein, Gluten Free Pancake Recipes
  • Whizz until completely smooth.

Tip: Make sure not to over-blend the mixture as that will make the oats become very sticky.

  • Heat up a tiny bit of oil in a frying pan and add a few tablespoons of the pancake batter.

Tip: Control the amount of oil you use by using a spray-on oil or rubbing a piece of greased kitchen paper over the bottom of the frying pan too much oil will make the pancakes ragged at the edges, and too little will make them hard to flip over.

  • Cook on a low-medium heat for a few minutes until you see little bubbles appear on the surface of the pancake.

Tip: Use a non-stick frying pan so that the pancakes dont stick to the bottom of the frying pan!

  • Flip over and cook for another few minutes, until golden brown and crispy on both sides.

Tip: Use a spatula to flip over the pancakes.

  • Repeat for the rest of the batter – makes around 8 pancakes.

What Makes These Yogurt Pancakes Extra Special

  • Theyre packed with protein. These yogurt pancakes have almost 15g of protein per serving, making them the perfect high protein pancakes without protein powder! A great post-workout breakfast that includes a complex carb, protein and healthy fat.
  • They dont need any oil. Because of the natural fats from whole milk yogurt, you wont need any additional oils. Beware, if you dont use a higher fat yogurt, your pancakes may come out gummy.
  • The batter is made in the blender. This yogurt pancake recipe comes together in under 30 minutes for a quick, easy breakfast any day of the week. Youll make the batter right in the blender for ease!
  • These pancakes are great for both adults and kids. The quality ingredients make these a wonderful nutritious option, and fun to add toppings to. We love blueberries or chocolate chips!

How To Make Protein Pancake Mix

For this diy pancake mix recipe, I wanted it to be like a complete meal in terms of macros. Just add fruit and maybe some yogurt and go.

This recipe is also gluten free for anyone for whom that is a concern. To make it vegan, use a plant based protein powder in the mix and egg replacer when making the pancakes.

Start with your oats. Youll need 2 cups of oat flour, store bought or ground at home.

I always blend mine myself because it is economical and easy.

Just add about 1 cup of oats at a time to your blender or Nutribullet .

    Birch Benders Paleo Just

Birch Benders Paleo pancake mix is the one mix in this list of 8 that I intend to do 2 exciting things with. I intend to buy it again . And I would like to try to recreate it at home.

I do already have a recipe for almond flour Paleo pancakes here on the blog. I also have one for coconut flour pancakes that are truly light and fluffy .

But I dont have a recipe for Paleo pancakes that uses cassava starch. Ive experimented a bit with Ottos Cassava Flour, but I havent fallen totally in love. And since its a starch, its not like its all that nutritious on its own.

But the pancakes I made with this Birch Benders Paleo pancake mix just taste so good in every way. Theyre very moist, and tender and just sweet enough without any toppings .

Theyre not very thick and fluffy, but they still manage to be super light. And perhaps my favorite part? You only have to add water to them to make pancakes.

Theres no need to mess with melting butter or getting eggs to room temperature. If you have the mix, some water, a skillet, and even a large measuring cup and whisk, you can have pancakes in minutes. Im so excited about this one!

They Are An Allergy And Dietary Nightmare

EASY GLUTEN FREE PANCAKE | HIGH PROTEIN

It just so happens to be that any traditional pancake will include at least one ingredient which is going to be problematic for someone.

Eggs, milk, and butter? Not exactly what you would call dairy free or vegan friendly.

Flour? Since wheat is de facto, youve now excluded Celiacs and those on a gluten free diet.

Low carb? Unless youre using a low carb protein pancakes recipe made with special flour, virtually all of the common flours from the supermarket wont exactly be what you would call Atkins friendly.

Low fat? They may or may not be high fat, but any butter certainly wont be pleasing the oil free crowd.

Low glycemic or diabetic? Even without the maple syrup, the highly refined flour can be a diabetic disaster. When prepared with wheat flour, the glycemic index tests out at 80 for a mere 2.8 ounce serving .

Vegetarian? In the US, the definition of vegetarian is wishy-washy, but in many parts of the world such as India, eggs are never considered a vegetarian food. Here, ovo-vegetarians eat eggs but lacto-vegetarians do not.

Despite being delicious, as you see just about everyone has something they hate about this classic American breakfast food. Even without food allergies, no one would ever legitimately claim that these fluffy buttermilk concoctions are good for weight loss or are healthy.

But what if you could get rid of those bad characteristics and make a version which pleases just about everyone?

Ingredients For Gluten Free Protein Pancakes

    Review: Wholesome Chow
    • Eggs. I use whole eggs, but you can try making protein pancakes with egg whites instead. Or, for an egg-free version, try making these with a chia or flax egg.
    • Oats. Choose certified gluten free oats if needed.
    • Cottage Cheese. I love Good Culture cottage cheese. If you are following a low FODMAP elimination diet, choose a lactose-free brand like Green Valley Lactose Free cottage cheese.
    • Maple syrup. A little bit goes a long way, but you can make yours without any added sugars.
    • Pure vanilla extract.
    • One orange. The orange juice & zest adds an additional layer of sweetness, and tastes divine!
    • Raspberries. Or other fresh fruit.
    • Oil for cooking. High oleic sunflower oil, avocado oil, olive oil, or coconut oil
    • Optional: Protein powder

Stonewall Kitchen Gluten Free Pancake Mix

My next favorite gluten free pancake mix is from Stonewall Kitchen . First and foremost, please be sure youre purchasing their gluten free pancake mix, based on the red gluten free stamp on the side.

And please note that the mix does not have a certified gluten free seal. If youre uncomfortable with this product because of the relative lack of proof of gluten free status, please dont purchase it.

All that being said, I decided to include this brand because its just simply really, really good. In fact, if it werent for the lack of certified gluten free status, it probably would have beat out King Arthur Flours mix for first place.

The pancakes turned out incredibly tender, not gritty at all , and not at all dense. I generally dont like most things that contain soy, since it tends to make baked goods tougher, but these pancakes are really quite perfect.

Each meal I make has protein, fat, and starch, for sure, but sometimes I just dont have their attention at the table like I used to. And theyre nearly always hungry.

Before they take off in the morning, they often only have just a few minutes to grab something. School starts way too early in the morning so I dont want to pressure them to wake up even earlier to make themselves an elaborate breakfast.

What Can You Put On Top Of Protein Pancakes

    HIGH-PROTEIN VEGAN PANCAKES | GLUTEN-FREE

One of the best things about these perfect protein pancakes is how delicious they are on their own. However, I encourage you to get creative with these healthy optional toppings:

    • Fresh fruit. I love the combination of orange and raspberries, but you can top your protein pancakes with ripe bananas , unsweetened applesauce, or any fresh fruit.
    • Peanut butter or almond butter. Add a hefty dollop of your favorite nut butter for extra protein, fiber, and healthy fat.
    • Chopped nuts or seeds. Pecans, walnuts, almonds, peanuts, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, hemp seeds.you name it!
    • Greek yogurt. Or lactose free yogurt for a low FODMAP version.
    • Chocolate chips. For a low sugar version try Lakanto chcolate chips.
    • Add a drizzle of pure maple syrup for extra decadance!
