Our Cooking Tips And Tricks

How to Make the BEST GLUTEN & DAIRY FREE Pizza for PCOS!

The box instructions are pretty spot on. We baked our pizza at 450°F for about 17 minutes and it came out perfectly crispy, without any floppy parts and no burnt edges.

Just remember, for crispier and firmer crusts, always place your pizza on a baking rack because it allows hot air to circulate evenly on all sides of the pie.

Do not allow the frozen pizza to thaw. Start cooking it immediately from a frozen state and youll be all set.

It All Starts With The Crust

*Our Gluten-Free pizza crust is made off-site in a gluten-free kitchen, however, they are topped and cooked alongside all products in our kitchens. Pieology does not recommend our gluten-free pizzas for guests with celiac disease. Guests with gluten sensitivities should also exercise caution and judgment when ordering our gluten-free pizzas.

What Is Frozen Pizza Made Of

While the ingredients in frozen pizzas can vary, lets take a look at a popular brand of frozen pizza DiGiorno and see what they use in their Original Rising Crust Pizza in the Sausage and Pepperoni flavor:

Enriched wheat flour , cooked seasoned pizza topping made with pork and chicken, bha, bht and citric acid added to help protect flavor , spice extractives, bha, bht, citric acid, tomato paste, pepperoni made with pork, chicken and beef , sugar, 2% or less of vegetable oil , wheat gluten, degerminated yellow corn meal, yeast. salt. datem, baking soda, spices, wheat flour. enzymes, dried garlic, ascorbic acid .

How To Make Paleo Pizza Casserole

Once your cheese sauce is done, set it aside. Cook the pasta according to the package directions, drain and set aside. Preheat your oven to 375° F and lightly grease a 9 x 13 casserole dish.

Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add the onion, peppers, and mushrooms. Cook for 2-3 minutes until softened, then add the garlic, stir, and cook another and sprinkle the mixture with sea salt and pepper. Continue to cook 2 more minutes.

Push the veggies to one side of the skillet and crumble the sausage to the other side. Cook, using a spatula to break up lumps as it browns. Mix the sausage with the veggies and continue to cook until itâs fully browned, then remove from heat. Stir in the marinara or pizza sauce and cooked pasta, plus half of the pepperoni.

Assemble the casserole: Transfer the sausage pasta mixture to the casserole dish, then pour the cheese sauce over the top. Arrange the remaining pepperoni over the top, and baked in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until heated through and bubbly. Garnish with fresh herbs and serve hot.

Paleo Pizza With Instant Yeast Versus Active Dry Yeast

You can’t make this recipe without any yeast. It calls for instant yeast, which is also called breadmaker or rapid-rise yeast.

If you would like to replace the instant yeast with active dry yeast, multiply the number of grams of instant yeast by 1.25. Here, that means 6 grams x 1.25, or 7.5 grams.

I recommend just using 8 grams of active dry yeast. It has a thicker coating around the grains, so you’ll need to soak it in the water in the recipe first. Once it’s bubbling, proceed with the recipe and add the yeast and water when the instructions call for adding the water alone.

How We Achieve That Traditional Pizza Crust Chew And Flavor In A Paleo Pizza Crust

Almond and tapioca flours work together to mimic all-purpose flour for this recipe, and yeast gives the dough that characteristic pizza crust flavor. Instead of sugar, honey is mixed with the yeast to get the process started.

Olive oil provides a hint of richness and the egg, coupled with the tapioca flour, gives the dough plenty of elasticity, so its easy to work with. The dough only requires one forty-five minute rise, making it a viable option for weeknight dinners.

Once the dough has risen, its easy to pat out by hand on a piece of parchmentno rolling pin necessary. Preheat a baking sheet , brush the dough with a little olive oil, and pop the crust in the oven.

Easy Delicious Gluten Free Dairy-Free Pizza Recipe

I hear you!

Doesnt pizza by its very nature include gluten and dairy?

Well yes it does. But that never stops me.

With our daughter on a gluten and dairy free diet I didnt want her to miss out on pizza so I created this version.

The base is made with my wholegrain gluten free flour blend. I created this specifically because I couldnt find a decent blend on the market that could be used in all my baking.

I also wanted a blend that contained important nutrients. Something that is hard on a gluten free diet.

I chose naturally gluten free teff, sorghum and buckwheat as my wholegrain flours and combined them with a little tapioca and potato starch. This created a blend that could be used to make everything from bread to cakes, biscuits to pasta.

And of course, it contains all important fibre to feed your gut microbes. This is something that I have a keen interest in as more and more research shows the importance of our gut health on our physical and mental health.

Is Frozen Pizza Dairy

Most frozen pizza contains cheese which is a dairy ingredient. Any cheese, including goat cheese, contains dairy so keep this in mind before choosing frozen pizzas from the store.

Dairy may also be present in pizza in some pizza crusts and sauces. Some frozen pizzas have stuffed crusts, which simply means there is cheese mixed into the crust. Some tomato sauces or pesto sauces on frozen pizzas also contain dairy ingredients from cheese.

Not all frozen pizzas have dairy, even if most do. You can find dairy-free frozen pizza options at some grocery stores in the frozen food aisle or health food aisles.

The Secret To A Good Dairy Free Pizza:

If you have discovered a vegan cheese that you love then youre probably set! But it seems every time I actually find a vegan cheese that I love then the stores stop carrying them and I cant find them anymore! WAH! So we have found a great way around the whole cheese thing!

The key is to add enough greasy meats to offset the melty cheese you are missing! Typically pepperoni does a really great job of soaking up the pizza crust bread but we experiment with all sorts of things!

Goat cheese is another great creamy option if you can handle it. Ive found we can use goat cheese without any side effects for us.

Here is one of our gluten free pizza recipes where we smothered the top in sauce and put all of the ingredients underneath. It helps to hold all of the meats on the pizza.

Although this is our typical type of pizza. A healthy amount of sauce on the bottom, sprinkled with things like sausage, pepperoni, onions, peppers, goat cheese, mushrooms, or anything else you want to add on top.

**Please make sure you read the additional notes on the warming of the milk , the batter, and the pan size/shape in the recipe card below it is VITAL to this recipe!

Whats Different About This Gluten Free Pizza

Daiya Meatless Pepperoni Style with Jalapeño Vegetable Crust Pizza ...

Cauliflower and other veggie-based crusts are great, but sometimes you need something a little closer to classic pizza to satisfy your cravings. This Paleo pizza dough bakes up into a gorgeous pie with just the right amount of crunch around the edges.

The middle of the pie is more chewy than crispy, but holds its own well enough to not sag under the weight of whatever toppings you choose. Youll just need two Paleo-style flours to make this Paleo pizza crust, and it will fool your friends with how close it tastes to traditional pizza.

Kroger Extra Thin Crust Gluten

The generic Kroger brand frozen gluten-free pizza is surprisingly delicious and I highly recommend it.

After I first published this article, several people told me I had to try this pizza. I went to King Soopers and found the extra thin crust gluten-free pizza. I tried it and loved it.

The pizza baked up nicely, had a tasty sauce and generous amount of cheese. It, too, passed the Nima Sensor test.

Daiya Supreme Pizzas Taste Texture And More

Taste

About 90% of what youll taste is Daiyas dairy-free mozzarella cheese. You will feel the meatless sausages, mushrooms and bell peppers when chewing on your bite, but Daiyas cheese has such a rich flavor that it drowns out the other toppings. So, in other words, it tastes like cheese pizza with some extra stuff on it.

But dont let the strong cheesy flavor dissuade you from trying this pie. Its not an unpleasant flavor its just that the cheese is very dominant in both smell and taste.

Texture

On the texture front, Daiyas Supreme Pizza is nicely firm and crispy, about the right amount doughy, and chewy enough, so you feel like youre eating an actual pizza and not a reheated frozen cardboard.

So no complaints about the texture. In fact, the texture is one of the key reasons wed buy this pie again.

Smell

The pizza got a little smelly after it was fully baked. Just the Daiya cheese aroma, nothing too funky or off-putting.

Appearance

FrozenCooked

Out of the box, the pizza looked pretty much like any other frozen pizza. No surprise there.

After baking, the pizza browned evenly, with no parts of the crust or toppings burnt. However, it didnt look as fancy as the picture on the box.

Then again, what frozen pizza ever does?!. Actually, Tattooed Chef Cauliflower Cheese Pizza kind of came close.

Price

The price, in fact, fluctuates depending on where you buy it. At our local Wholefoods, it was $9.99, but weve seen it as low as $6.49 at Target and Walmart.

How To Make Paleo Vegan Pizza

Making this pizza is simple and straightforward. Prepare the crust first. Mix your flax egg and water right away and let it sit for 10 minutes before adding to the dough. Mix all ingredients in a large bowl . Spread the dough out into a circle on a parchment lined pizza pan or baking sheet. You can use a bit more tapioca flour to help if the dough is sticky.

Bake the crust at 425° F for about 12-15 minutes or until set. Meanwhile, prepare the cheese sauce. I use a small blender like a Nutribullet when making cheese sauces because my vitamix is too large for the small amount I need to blend.

Blend all the ingredients until you have a very smooth creamy mixture. Once the crust is done, assemble the pizza. Spread the pizza sauce over the crust, and spoon the cheese mixture on top, using as much as desired.

Top with chopped fresh basil and return to the oven to bake another 10 minutes or so, until the crust is crisp on the edges and the cheese sauce is beginning to turn golden. Slice with a pizza cutter and serve with any additional toppings you like.

Tips For Measuring Gluten

The best way to measure gluten-free flour is the spoon & level method. Using a spoon, scoop the flour into the measuring cup. After youve spooned the flour into the measuring cup, use the back of a knife to level off the top of the measuring cup. Please do not scoop the flour out of the bag with your measuring cup or you could get more gluten-free flour than the recipe calls for.

Also, use a measuring cup made for dry ingredients .

The Quest For Proper Gluten

When my husband Juan was first diagnosed with Celiac disease in 2015 and we began following a gluten-free diet, we went on a search for good gluten-free pizza but unfortunately the options that were available in restaurants or delivery in Buenos Aires were far from what real pizza should feel or taste like.

Now when I say real pizza I mean pizza made with wheat flour that could hold up on its own and wasnt soggy or too thick or felt like stiff sheet of cardboard. Im talking about pizza that is crusty on the outside and chewy on the inside. You know, basically the pizza of pizza dreams.

Can You Replace The Tapioca Starch/flour

Best Ever Gluten Free & Dairy Free (Vegan) Pizza â Me and My Thermie

Tapioca starch is essential to the success of this recipe. It’s the bulk of the flour used in the recipe, and it provides stretch that almond flour simply can’t.

There is no Paleo replacement for tapioca starch. If you aren’t Paleo but you’d like to make this recipe without tapioca starch, try using superfine sweet white rice flour in its place.
