Gluten Free California Pizza Kitchen
Sometimes there is gluten free pizza, and sometimes there is certified gluten free pizza. California Pizza kitchen just so happens to fall in the category of certified gluten free. Certified gluten-free means something to anyone that is really serious about avoiding gluten. In order to get this certification, the pizza must be prepared using strict guidelines.
California gets this standard by using certified gluten free ingredients verified by suppliers as gluten free. The restaurant also has certain procedures in place to avoid the cross contamination with gluten containing pizzas. This is the highest standard that you could hope for in your search for truly gluten free pizza.
There are five pizzas that pass for certified gluten free at California Pizza Kitchen. Those pizzas include
- Original BBQ Chicken Pizza,
- Traditional Cheese pizza.
The restaurant will not certify any other combinations of pizzas as gluten free. These pizzas also come as a cauliflower crust only. For a while they served a rice flower pizza but discontinued that a few years ago.
Can You Trust Them Are They Actually Gf
Gluten is a protein found in wheat, rye, and barley. If youre on a gluten-free diet, youll need to avoid any products that contain this protein. Wheat products like breads and pastas may be the first to come to mind, but gluten can sometimes pop up in other packaged foods too.
When eating out, it can be difficult to eat gluten-free since sandwiches come on buns and salads often include breaded chicken and croutons. Even if you order your meal without these gluten-containing foods, cross contamination can happen in the kitchen.
As you would at any other restaurant, be mindful of the possibility of cross contamination at fast-food joints. The biggest culprit is frying oil.
Oil is naturally gluten-free, but restaurants may use the same batch of oil to fry a bunch of different foods. Once that oil has been used to fry gluten-containing foods , its def contaminated and so are the french fries or any other foods that take a dip in the oil afterward.
Even with GF labels, the risk could still be high since the food prep is fast. If you have an allergy, dont be afraid to ask specifically how your food is cooked and mention that it must be gluten-free.
Telling the staff might help limit cross contamination that can happen if folks touch gluten-containing foods while prepping your meal.
Wondering what you can actually eat? After weighing all the gluten-free options, weve broken down whats available and whats potentially risky at Americas fave fast-food chains.

Jack In The Box: Southwest Chicken Salad
There’s no easy way to modify Jack’s Stacked Grilled Cheese Burger, so sadly, those with Celiac will never know the wonder of Munchie Meals. But this salad does have pepper jack cheese and black beans, at least. Just beware the crunchy toppings.

Are Burger King Fries Gluten
Burger King Fries cannot be considered gluten free because they are prepared in fryers with breaded items such as onion rings, hashbrows and fish. Burger King offers many other items that can be considered gluten free, like salads sans croutons, frozen drinks, and soups.

No that isnt an oxymoron you can find Gluten Free Fast Food. As a Gluten Free person eating out is ALWAYS a risk. Cross contamination is everywhere and many people are poorly educated about what it means to be Gluten Free. Chick-fil-AWhat I order: 8 piece GRILLED nugget meal, with fries, a drink and Polynesian sauce or the grilled chicken salad with Fruit cup. They have a Gluten Free bun so you can actually have a grilled chicken sandwich too! The bun comes in a sealed bag so it is safe.
The Gluten Free menu can be found here. Pluses: Um GLUTEN FREE Fries!! Good dipping options. Super family friendly! GF bun. Minuses: Honestly this isnt that filling for me. I usually have to order large fries to feel full. ChipotleWhat I order: Chicken bowl and white rice, black beans, sour cream, lettuce, mild salsa, and cheese. Gluten Free Papa Johns
Papa Johns was one of the late bloomers for pizza chains when it came to adding a gluten free crust. That said, the pizza chain rolled out their gluten free crust a few years ago, and it has stayed on the menu.
Operationally, Papa Johns employs procedures to prevent contact with gluten, and while the crust is prepared in a separate, gluten-free facility before being shipped to stores, it is possible that a pizza with gluten-free crust could be exposed to gluten during the in-store, pizza-making process. Therefore, the brand does not recommend its Gluten-Free Crust made with Ancient Grains for customers with Celiac Disease or serious gluten intolerances.

Culver’s: Georges Chili Supreme
When much of your reputation is built on breaded and fried cheese curds, you’re not exactly a staple in the GF community. Yet surprisingly, Culver’s has several options. At another chain, the Cranberry Bacon Bleu Salad or Baja Chicken Enchilada Soup might be the recommendation here, but instead it s George’s Chili Supreme. because George was nice enough to put a “secret blend of peppery spices” in his slow cooker, and no gluten.
Kfc: House Or Caesar Salad
Sorry, people with Celiac, but you’re basically beggars at the Colonel’s house. The gluten filter on the KFC site yields this sad mess of soft drink options, along with two salads that do not include dressing or croutons. To add insult to injury, they’reside salads. We suppose you could pass on the Caesar and load up on corn, coleslaw, and green beans, but that’ll just remind you of the other sides you’re missing.

Id like to go back to 2012 for just a moment, scroll down a few paragraphs if you just want to hear about The Batman.
That year saw the release of two culture-changing films: Christopher Nolans The Dark Knight Rises and Bill Condons The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2. On the surface, beyond the obvious bat iconography, those films have nothing in common. Yet I think this weeks The Batman represents a fascinating intersection of those two films.
I have less experience with the latter . Having asked people who were part of the fandom, even amongst fans, there was this ticking clock of expectations around its cast. Could they make “serious” turns outside the franchise that turned them into megastars or were they just the new faces audiences were expected to root for?
The former, however, is a different story. For me, 2012 was the year I started exploring comic books and their adaptations more seriously, and TDKR was no small part. It was Christopher Nolan’s bold climax to a re-introduction of the character a lot of audiences simply weren’t expecting. But even for its flaws made apparent, the Batman legacy made it mostly immune to any questions of what next or who gets to tell that story, let alone its complete antithesis to ‘Twilight’s “image” amongst moviegoers.
Overall, I give The Batman 9/10.
‘The Batman’ will be available in theaters beginning March 4th.
Hash Brown Scramble Burrito With Nuggets
While the egg white grill sandwich provides a healthy amount of protein with relatively low calories, the hash brown scramble burrito with nuggets comes loaded with calories and sodium.
With Chick-fil-A’s signature nuggets, hash browns, scrambled eggs, and cheese all rolled in a flour tortilla, this breakfast option includes 700 calories, 40g fat, 12g saturated fat, 51g carbohydrates, 34g protein, and 1,750mg sodium.
Chicken can be an excellent lean source of protein at any meal. However, when it’s fried, the nutritional benefits can be overshadowed by added calories and fat. Grilled chicken is a healthier choice, so consider ordering the scramble burrito with a grilled fillet.
When it comes to sandwich making your choice of bread can make a big difference to a meal’s calories and carb count. Instead of high-carb choices like biscuits and bagels, try making a breakfast sandwich at Chick-fil-A on an English muffin. With only 150 calories, it can be a sensible and satisfying vehicle for protein-packed eggs.

Flour Tortilla Tacos With Carnitas Rice Salsa Sour Cream Cheese And Guacamole
One flour tortilla taco with carnitas, white rice, roasted chili-corn salsa, Monterey Jack cheese, guacamole, and sour cream will provide 401 calories, 21.5g total fat, 7g saturated fat, 35g carbohydrates, 16g protein, and 733mg sodium.
Turning that order into a meal of three boosts the total calories to 1,200. Split the meal with a friend or save some for later to keep the intake of calories, fat, and sodium lower.
Gluten Free Red Robin
For a shop that focuses on burgers and fries, Red Robin definitely goes the extra mile by using Udis gluten free buns and lettuce wraps. These are also available for all sandwiches and burgers. These include:
- The Wedgie Burger
- California Chicken Sandwich
- Simply Grilled Chicken Sandwich
Additionally, Red Robin uses an additional fryer for their fries at most restaurants. You should always ask, but we find this to be the case at most locations. This keeps the cross contamination to a minimum.
Red Robin also advertises multiple appetizers as gluten free although I dont love the ideas of these apps with no chips. These include:
- Chili con queso
- Guac and salsa no chips
- Heck-yeah Hummus Plate

Fruit & Yogurt Parfait
While McDonalds doesnt yet have an option for gluten-free breakfast sandwiches, that doesnt mean you have to miss out on breakfast. For a light and healthy breakfast or side option, you can order a fruit & yogurt parfait from many McDonalds menus.
With this menu item, you can enjoy layers of low-fat vanilla yogurt, low-fat granola, and fresh strawberries and blueberries.
Not only is this fruit & yogurt cup a quick and convenient breakfast, but it offers a delicious and refreshing gluten-free alternative to the traditional breakfasts available on fast-food menus.
Dairy Queen: Reese’s Blizzard
We could tell you to order GrillBurger without the bun, but this is Dairy Queen, after all, which means you’re probably curious about the ice cream. Soft-serve is clear for consumption, just be mindful of your Blizzard toppings: oreo crumbles will always end in misery, but Reese’s are on the good foods list.
