Dominos Gluten-Free Crust Review

Pro tips and a quick summary of everything gluten free at Buffalo Wild Wings

  • When you order at the store or even online, tell them you have an allergy or Celiac Disease so they take precautions with your drinks and food.
  • Dominos has almost zero options for people with a serious gluten allergy or Celiac Disease. We do not recommend you go here unless you are ok with gluten cross-contamination.
  • Dominos has poor reviews on the Find Me Gluten Free app. With an average of 3 stars from over 85 people, the majority contain a negative sentiment. Most of the bad reviews mentioned getting sick. Some people who were non-celiac mentioned enjoying the pizza, but it is a big risk for anyone with an allergy!
  • Personal experiences here were always bad. Ive tested the gluten free crust just two times, but both times I was extremely sick. I also tried the chicken wings at Dominos and those made me sick too. The only safe items in my opinion, are the dipping sauces because they are individually sealed containers without any cross-contamination.

It reads like a great deal of boasting, followed by the “disclaimer”

“Domino’s pizza made with a Gluten Free Crust is prepared in a common kitchen with the risk of gluten exposure. Therefore, Domino’s DOES NOT recommend this pizza for customers with celiac disease. Customers with gluten sensitivities should exercise judgment in consuming this pizza.”

If I hadn’t read that disclaimer, I could have gone out that night and purchased a Domino’s Gluten Free Pizza just to be able to try one of my favorite dishes.

ABC News had a brief visit with Domino’s CEO, J Patrick Doyle, who said, “Offering Domino’s Gluten Free Crust is a big step for us, and we wanted to make sure we were doing it right.”

Well, you haven’t done it right, Mr. Doyle, because celiacs cannot eat your pizza, and bless the person with gluten sensitivity who eats your pizza. Many celiacs suffer greatly after they have ingested gluten-containing flour. Even a few grains of gluten flour can cause abdominal pain, diarrhoea and bloating for days.

Doyle went on to explain their strategy for doing it right’: “Domino’s is doing that by partnering with experts at the NFCA and by empowering the gluten sensitive community with the information they need.”

    Dominos Gluten Free Crust

Dominos gluten free crust is similar to a thin crust pizza. Its a little chewy but decent, except that my local joint doesnt know when to stop cooking it. It always arrives charred black around the edges and very dark brown on the bottom. Well, 99% of the time. Once, it was still doughy

Menu Selection: 3/5. Dominos offers one size of gluten free pizza crust and a handful of other foods that are gluten free.

    Cleanliness: 4/5. Usually very clean.

Sensitivity: 2/5. Servers and kitchen are not sensitive to food limitations. Cross-contamination will occur here.

    The Incredible Bakery Pizza Dough

    Domino

This was the only un-made pizza base but as it was not a dry mix I wanted to add it to the round-up, plus I was intrigued as I think that this is the only ready-made gluten free and vegan pizza dough out there?

I loved how this was delivered, it felt really special to have 6 individual little boxes of dough and all packaging is plastic free in this instance.

The goods came frozen/chilled and I was able to transfer them to the freezer immediately.

When it came to using the dough I took one carton out and defrosted on the kitchen window sill for about 3hrs, although it says it can take up to 6hrs. The dough needs to be reworked briefly on a well floured surface and I was surprised at how glutenous it appeared. The smells from the dough were amazing. Proper rich and deep yeasty smells.

I rolled the dough out to approximately 8 inches and tidied the edges by pinching any uneven bits and tucking them under to form a higher sided crust.

Once cooked the crust didnt have the golden look I had expected. I wonder if thats because my brain thought it was dealing with a gluten pizza dough and my expectations were unrealistic. I will brush the edges next time with some soy milk so this will solve that issue.

This pizza had a lovely crispy crust and you could taste that it was a fresh pizza dough which we didnt get from the other pizza bases for obvious reasons.

    Tips For Measuring Gluten

The best way to measure gluten-free flour is the spoon & level method. Using a spoon, scoop the flour into the measuring cup. After youve spooned the flour into the measuring cup, use the back of a knife to level off the top of the measuring cup. Please do not scoop the flour out of the bag with your measuring cup or you could get more gluten-free flour than the recipe calls for.

Also, use a measuring cup made for dry ingredients .

Whats The Difference In Dominos Crusts

Because of this, the Hand Tossed crust is somewhat thinner than the Handmade Pan crust, but slightly thicker than the Crunchy Thin crust. The dough for the hand-tossed crust is stretched to the size you choose. Once the pizza is baked, the garlic and olive oil seasoning combination is sprinkled on top of the crust.

You can bet dominos makes it as delicious. The only difference is that it has different crust ingredients.

But the toppings will be rich. Im not saying the crust is terrible because its just as rich and satiating. Most people enjoy it because of the flavors.

The difference then is that you can have even the flavored crust if you like. You are bound to enjoy the pizza, you know.
