Moscow Mule With Mint

Gluten Free Protein Breakfast Drinks (Fuel 10k) – Free From Finds Episode 3

Take the classic Moscow mule up a notch with some fresh mint. This refreshing summer cocktail is tart, sweet, and bubbly. Perfect in a frosted mug with some gluten-free eats.

A Moscow mule has always been one of my favourite cocktails to order when out at a restaurant. It’s bright, refreshing, and a bit tart. Not to mention the classic copper cups are so fun. I’ve been enjoying making them at home this summer now that I’ve got some copper cups of my own.

I have wanted to play around with the photography and styling of this drink, so I did some internet research on how others have photographed Moscow mules. And I realized something… nearly all of the recipes showed mint in the drink as a garnish, but it was nowhere to be seen in the recipe! I was shocked. I’ve always felt that mint was an integral flavour in a Moscow mule.

Whether traditional or not, this Moscow Mule with Mint recipe is sure to hit the spot on a hot summer evening. It’s gluten-free*, dairy-free, vegan, and vegetarian. Perfect to share with your friends and family. I know you want one now. Keep reading to learn how to make it!

*always be sure to check that your vodka brand is gluten-free. I use Titos, as it is distilled from corn and states it is gluten-free on the bottle. Read this great article about Titos here. Maybe that doesn’t technically make this drink a Moscow mule, but we’ll roll with it.

Are There Any Sodas That Contain Gluten

Other types of sodas that may contain gluten include cream soda, cola, and some fruit-flavored sodas. Is Champagne Gluten Free

ZeFemme: Gluten Free Social: Drinks!

Most champagne is gluten free because itâs made from a combination of three white wine grapes. Grapes donât have any gluten in them because they arenât grains and donât come in contact with grains during the growing process.

Champagne that was aged in oak barrels or used gluten as a fining agent is not gluten free. You may have symptoms of a wine allergy too, depending on what your sensitivities are and what ingredients were used in that champagne. To find out whether or not gluten was used for a particular champagne, take a look at the bottle’s label or contact the manufacturer.

Hard Ciders And Malt Beverages

Hard ciders are almost always gluten free, unless the manufacturer has added malt .

Ace Ciders are some of my favorite certified gluten free ciders just look at the range of flavor options .

Ace California Cider Company, opened in 1993, is the first family owned cider in the US. Its based in Sonoma, California and truly has some of the most unique and flavorful gluten free cider options Ive found. I also love that they have bottles and cans!

Unlike true ciders which are gluten free, malted beverages and wine coolers are NOT gluten free. Malt is derived from barley which contains gluten, and these drinks are not distilled, so the gluten remains in the bottle.

Pictured above: Bold Rock, Angry Orchard ARE gluten-free Henrys Hard Soda and Wild Leaf Hard Tea are NOT gluten free. So you can see why it can be tricky to shop for gluten free options on co-mingled shelves! Always read labels before buying dont rely on stores to accurately shelve gluten-free items apart from non-gluten free options.

Meads like Charm City Mead on the top shelf above, ARE gluten free. Mead is made from fermented fruits and honey, no grain.

Some brands of fermented, malted beverages are now claiming to be gluten-removed. Please use caution in choosing to try these types of beverages.

When fermented and malted beverages are made with gluten but claim to be processed to remove or break apart the gluten molecules, they are not able to verify the gluten content of the resulting beverage .

Is Smirnoff Ice Gluten Free

Smirnoff Ice is not gluten free because itâs a malt-based beverage. Malt is made with barley which is one of the four grains that contain gluten.

However, regular Smirnoff is gluten free. Standard Smirnoff is just vodka, which is made from rye. Although rye contains gluten, the gluten protein is vaporized during the distillation process, similar to whiskey and bourbon.

Unfortunately, most types of alcohol are made from grain, primarily wheat and barley. This makes it a bit more challenging to find something you can drink safely, but it isnt an impossible task.

Sports Drinks And Supplements

For many of us, a gluten-free diet is just part of the overall picture to maintaining a healthy lifestyle. So if you are drinking popular sports drinks or taking dietary supplements, you need to make sure they are gluten-free as well or else they may do more harm than good.

Not all sports drinks are gluten-free, so it is important for people with celiac disease to find brands that will not cause a reaction.Stick to Gatorade and Powerade, the two most popular brands of sports drinks. Contact the manufacturer of smaller sports drink brands to ensure safety before opting for an alternative.Protein drinks are becoming increasingly popular for post-exercise nutrition and supplementing ones protein intake. Take one look at their nutrition labels and you will find that most of these products have an extensive list of ingredients. As a result, we recommend using extreme caution when selecting a protein drink. Its likely that you will not recognize many of the ingredients listed on the package, and we therefore suggest looking for a brand you know to be safe. We suggest CytoSport Muscle Milk, which produces many gluten-free flavors such as chocolate milk, vanilla, and cookies & creme, among others. You can also check GNC.com for a list of gluten-free workout supplements.

Naturally Gluten Free Beers

So many new options are available to those of us eating and drinking gluten-free, and thats something to celebrate!

Prefer ales? Maybe a true lager? Greens Beers are made in the true Belgian style and simply cant be beat. Greens has a varied line of gluten free beers available in Europe and luckily has decided to share a few with us in the U.S.!

Blonde, Amber and Dubbel Dark Ales plus their Dry-Hopped Lager any and all are perfect for a hot day. I love baking with the Dark their Blonde and Amber are wonderful, full-bodied and easy drinking ales, and their lager is a refreshing, light beer boasting a Pinot Grigio-like grapefruit note, making it quite a unique brew.

Redbridge, Bards Tale and New Grist round out the easy drinking and geographically accessible gluten-free beers to consider.

Of these, I particularly enjoy New Grist, as you can see from the photo below.

Holidaily Brewing Company Using locally sourced malted, naturally gluten free grains, and brewing in Colorados only dedicated gluten-free brewing facility, Holidaily raises the bar on truly gluten free beer.

This woman-owned company began as a way to bring great GF brews to those, like its founder Karen Hertz, must live an entirely gluten free lifestyle. Offering a selection of blondes, IPAs and stouts, theres something for every beer lover with Holidaily.

Ghostfish Brewing is one of the new naturally gluten free breweries Im most enthusiastic about.

Does Alcohol Have Gluten

Alcohol can have gluten ingredients in it or be gluten-free it all depends on what it was made from. For example, drinks like ale or malt beer arenât gluten free because theyâre made with ingredients containing gluten.

On the other hand, many other types of alcohol are gluten free. Many vodkas, wine varietals, and liqueurs are safe because they arenât made with grain ingredients or have a thorough distillation process. Similarly, many whiskeys can be consumed by gluten free drinkers because the distillation process vaporizes almost all of the proteins.

When looking for gluten free alcohol, make sure to research the productâs ingredients, company website, and distillation process. This will give you clear insight into whether or not gluten ingredients were used and the degree to which they may be present in the final product. Questions like “is Jagermeister gluten free?” or “is Captain Morgan gluten free?” can be answered in full detail with those specific brands.

If you offer both regular and gluten-free brands at your bar or restaurant, itâs easy to feel overwhelmed trying to track them all. Not only can our bar inventory software BinWise record this info for you, it can track other essential data for you too. Monitor high demand products in our perpetual inventory system, easily restock merchandise inventory, and keep an eye on shrinkage with the variance report.

Products That Do Not Claim To Be Gluten Free

Pear Chopin Cocktail

Sometimes, the process used in distilling liquor and other alcoholic beverages can eliminate the gluten in the product. Then, more grains are added after this process, resulting in the product containing gluten. Instead of assuming that every distilled product is safe, its best to check labels. You can also contact the company with questions regarding whether their product contains gluten.

What Alcohol Can Be Included On A Gluten Free Diet

Cider, wine, sherry, spirits, port and liqueurs are gluten free.

Even when a cereal that contains gluten is used as an ingredient, all spirits are distilled during the manufacturing process and this process removes any trace of gluten. Therefore, all spirit drinks are safe for people with coeliac disease.

Alcoholic Beverages That Are Safe To Drink

There are plenty of drinks that are naturally gluten-free, and there are those that are safe for people with gluten-free allergies. Some distilleries take special precautions to ensure that the gluten content in their drinks is safe for those with Celiac disease.

The Alcohol and Tobacco Trade and Tax Bureau are in charge of regulating the majority of alcoholic beverages in the United States. They concluded that drinks made from grains like wheat and rye, such as liquor, can be gluten-free.

According to the TTB, Because distillation removes protein if good manufacturing practices are followed, and because it is possible to verify the absence of protein or protein fragments in these products using scientifically valid analytical methods the gluten-free label is allowed on bottles of alcoholic beverages that do not contain gluten. The company is required to follow safe practices to guarantee that there is no gluten in the product, and they must be able to verify that it is safe.

Does Rum Have Gluten

Rum does not have gluten or gluten ingredients in it, because itâs made from molasses. Molasses is the residue from sugarcane plants, so it has nothing to do with cereal grains like rye and wheat. Rum is also a type of alcohol used in a few winter cocktails.

However, some rum varieties use ingredients that came in contact with gluten or are otherwise derived from grains. These are usually flavored rum brands. Most alcoholic beverage sites list whether or not their drinks are gluten free, and you can get additional information by contacting the distiller.

Is Beer Gluten Free

Purple Cow Float | Keto Drinks | Gluten Free, No Added Sugar

The popular beer brands you know and love are not gluten free. This includes the likes of Budweiser/Bud Light, Miller, Coors, Blue Moon, Stella Artois, Corona, and Michelob just to name a few.

However, there are quite a few specialty breweries that excel in creating naturally gluten free, gluten reduced, and gluten removed beers.

Popular gluten free options include Redbridge , Bards Gold Lager, and Glutenberg.

Just be sure to watch out for gluten removed beers which are made with gluten containing ingredients but have them removed through distillation. Unfortunately, this process is not 100% perfect resulting in U.S. retailers not being allowed to sell/market these particular beers as gluten free.

Popular gluten removed beers include Omission, New Planet, and Greens.

There Are A Growing Number Of Gluten

Hey, can I get you a beer? is something a well-meaning friend or family member has probably asked someone who has mentioned they follow a gluten-free diet at least once. Though you may think you have to skip out, not so fast.

In our craft beer-saturated culture, there are a ton of gluten-free beers available. You can enjoy classic-tasting beers such as Glutenberg Craft Brewery Blanche, or seasonal specialties like Dogfish Head Tweasonale.

Be wary that some beers branded as gluten-free are actually gluten-removed or gluten reduced, so you should consult your doctor before imbibing, especially if your allergy is severe.

Fda Ruling On Gluten Free Alcohol

In October of 2020, the United States Food and Drug Administration, the FDA, published a new requirement to clear up any confusion in the liquor stores about alcohol that can and can not be labeled gluten free.

Previously, in 2014 it was determined that if a company could prove scientifically that no traces of gluten were present in the final fermented drink, the drink was able to receive a gluten free label.

In August of 2020, the FDA reiterated that it knew of no scientifically valid analytical method effective in detecting and quantifying with precision the gluten protein content in fermented or hydrolyzed foods in terms of equivalent amounts of intact gluten proteins.

However, the FDA wanted to open the market to more options available for those on a gluten-free diet . First, they cleared up the confusion around gluten-free sources.

These new requirements, effective October 2020, state that since there is no scientific test that can prove a food or drink is gluten free, the main ingredient must be gluten free before any fermentation or hydrolysis can occur. All foods with a gluten free claim must keep records demonstrating Adequate assurance that such ingredients are gluten-free- before fermentation or hydrolysis.

The ruling also states that the manufacturers must also ensure that there has been no cross-contamination at any point during the manufacturing process. This is how you can receive a gluten-free alcohol label.
