Not only is sugar implicated in leaky gut syndrome and heightened inflammation, according to Kresser, it may also be linked to a number of other health concerns like Type 2 diabetes and obesity, which in turn can increase your risk for cardiovascular disease and cancer. Further, sugar consumption is directly linked to diabetes even when outside factors like obesity, alcohol use and sedentary lifestyle are taken into account, according to a study published in the February 2013 issue of the peer-reviewed journal, “PLOS ONE.”

The Diet No Sugar No Gluten No Dairy No Processed Limited Meats Limited Fruits

Tell someone you eat No Sugar, No Gluten, No Dairy, No Processed, Limited Meats and Limited Fruits youll get some stares, a few looks of incongruity and ultimately, Well I like eating too much to eat like that. I was previously in that camp. But eating healthy means youll leave hunger, food cravings and maybe a few diseases behind.

I hesitate to use the word diet in any way that restricts calories to lose weight. Eat Gently means eating to reduce the bad effects of food on your body if weight loss occurs, as it probably will, great but it is simply a side-effect and not a goal.

Sugar

Amazing how nearly every processed food has sugar or high fructose corn syrup in the ingredient list. Take a look at Spaghetti sauce, salsa, salad dressing, and even soy milk for the unexpected places sugar lurks. Ketchup is essentially red sugar. A single can of pop has 10 tsp of sugar.

Whats so bad about sugar? It has immediate absorption into the bloodstream with an exaggerated rise in insulin. High insulin levels are correlated with cravings, fat storage and even endothelial damage linking it to MI and stroke.

High sugar diets have been proven to raise brain dopamine levels and stimulate the same areas as seen in drug addicts. So sugar can be linked to a high/low cycle of euphoria and withdrawal.

Literally Everything In The World Has Added Sugar

I learned to read labels. A lot of surprising foods from potato chips to dried fruit contain added sugar. I also learned that my favorite brand of dried mangos had no added sugar, but the bag was considered two servings worth of mango. I used to eat the whole bag in one sitting, which is an entire day’s worth of carbs. When I did feel the urge to eat something carby, I kept myself to one serving.

Skincare: Know What To Eat And Avoid For Healthy And Glowing Skin

No gluten, no sugar, no dairy . . . no freakinâ way ...

Celebrity dermatologist Dr. Rashmi Shetty took to Instagram and explained how to determine what to eat and avoid. “You have been told a million times to eat colourful foods and berries. And you wonder what to eat every day and what should actually comprise the plate.”

“The first and the foremost function of food is satiation,” says Dr. Shetty. You should eat foods you are familiar too including those you have been eating childhood or are grown around you. As your gut is used to handle these and are no stranger to your body. Then your body knows how to process that food.”

Many are recommended to avoid sugar, dairy or gluten. But are these bad for everyone’s skin? Let’s find out.

Dairy: There has been a lot of buzz over the internet about the effect of dairy on skin. Some consume milk daily and do not experience any side effects while others may face gut-related issues. Dr. Shetty explains that if you feel uncomfortable after drinking milk, then you can restrict the consumption of milk and milk products. But not everyone should give up milk. I Need Less Sleep When I Eat Clean

My hunch is that gluten, sugar, and coffee are the three things that mess with my sleep cycles more than anything else. Before cleansing, I needed an average of seven and a half to eight hours of sleep a night whereas during the cleanse and after I need six to seven hours. I also wake up with a new pep in my step!

Three Months Sounds Long But It Is Totally Doable

When I agreed to do the video I had no idea we were committing to three months. It does make sense because A1C measures glucose attached to hemoglobin and those cells live about three months. For the first four weeks I was super committed and unwilling to waiver. By two months, I fell into a short depression that there was so much time left. Then something magical happened and I stopped worrying about it. The diet just became normal and I didn’t worry about an end date. In retrospect, I am glad it was three months because now I think it is a more viable lifestyle for me moving forward.

Dairy may be one of the most common food sensitivities in the world, according to Mark Hyman, M.D., writing for HuffPost Healthy Living. This is particularly true for people with celiac disease, gluten intolerance or leaky gut syndrome. Dairy is not the ideal source of dietary calcium either due to its high content of saturated fats and possible links to certain cancers, according to the Harvard School of Public Health website. Calcium can also be found in legumes, nuts and dark green leafy vegetables.

Coffee Makes Me Feel Crazy

I have an on-again-off-again love affair with coffee. I know too much isn’t good for my body, but I havent been able to kick it. Until now. The times I have had coffee after the cleanse, Ive felt the negative effects on my body and mind, and its just not worth it anymore. Hot lemon water and brewed teas are fantastic substitutes. Plus its much cheaper than a latte.

The Reason That This Anti

In order to help COMBAT that chronic inflammation, we need to first make some MAJOR lifestyle changes . Oops, Im failing at that.

We also need to MAXIMIZE certain nutrients in our diet, such as omega 3 rich foods , anti-oxidants, minerals, Vitamin D, probiotics, water, and so on and so on. Temporarily removing a dairy, and maybe even certain types of grains can help absorb your body absorb more nutrients and therefore reduce stress on the body. Does that make sense?

I know, youre probably now wondering but why a dairy-free Anti-inflammatory meal plan? Doesnt cultured dairy do wonder for the gut? YES, it SURE does! Grass-fed dairy thats rich in probiotics, like kefir, and yogurt, and even REAL butter, can be healthy and nourishing. Plus they are SOOOO tasty!

But heres the thing, if you are under that chronic inflammation and stress, then you might also be experiencing digest issues and food intolerances. Any food can be inflammatory if your body comes to see it as an invader under chronic inflammation. Which may include dairy, casein, and lactose included! Hopefully, its a temporary intolerance, but you never know. Which is why I suggest trying out a low FODMAP meal plan first.

No no, dont be worried, we can get this all worked out. Yes, we are going nourish the body and reduce stress.

Test, rest, reset! YES!!

A Quick Note From Our Founder

I dont often align myself with products but this is one that I just had to share!

Some of you may already know years ago, I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis.

I can still recall what it felt like to have my life change overnight

I went from an Executive Director of a non-profit organization, running marathons, rock climbing, hiking canyons and kayaking to being completely bedridden and staring at a wall for 15 hours a day.

Of course, I went to see many doctors but unfortunately I didnt find the help I needed. So, I had to set off on my own journey to learn my true path to healing.

Id pretty much turned-over every rock trying to find relief for my pain, sleep issues and myriad of other symptoms

Fast-forward 18 years.

I was determined to climb one of the true wonders of the natural world, Machu Picchu, the mystical home of the Incas in Peru.

It was there, after a grueling day when my feet, knees, legs, and lower back hurt so bad, that I thought I would have to abandon hopes of our next climb which was Rainbow Mountain! That night I pulled out a little spray bottle of aceite de magnesio that a friend had given me before I left on my trip.

What the heck, I thought. I was desperate. And I applied it all over my body before bed.

Because of the grueling day, I woke up expecting to be immobilized, but instead we were off to climb Rainbow Mountain andI was totally pain-free!

I know it sounds impossible, but its 1000% the truth.
