Use Beans Sunflower Mince Lentils Veggies Whatever You Like To Make This Vegan Burger Recipe

Once you get the basic ingredients needed for these vegan burger patties, you can create your own version by using whatever you have in your pantry! I used a combination of kidney beans and sunflower mince here which is not only quick and easy to prepare but also ensures the best vegan burger texture ever! What I also love about the sunflower mice is, that its soy-free, grain-free, gluten-free, low-fat, and protein-rich!

Feel free to use the discount code bianca10 for ordering the 6-pack sunflower mince or orders that are total above £22 in the wholesozo online-shop!

Alternatively, feel free to use mushrooms, cooked rice, quinoa, potatoes, soy protein, legumes like lentils, or simply add more beans instead to make the patties. You can also try adding additional nuts like walnuts or veggies like carrots, cauliflower, broccoli, zucchini, red peppers, or sweet potato for more flavor!

Regarding beans, feel free to use whatever variety you want in the recipe, such as black beans for black bean veggie burgers, or kidney, pinto, or regular white beans. Then season with dry spices or fresh herbs, whatever you like!

How To Make Vegan Burger Patties

This recipe comes together in just a few minutes! Then youll have thick, meaty, super healthy veggie and bean burgers that are 100% plant-based!

Start by sautéing the onions and garlic. In the meantime, soak the flax seeds and the sunflower mince. Place the oats in a blender or food processor and blend them into flour. Also, drain and rinse the beans, then mash them either with a fork or in a food processor. Then mix in all other ingredients until a moldable mixture forms. Finally, form into patties and place them on a plate.

You can fry or grill or probably also bake your vegan burger patties, however, I personally found them a bit dry when baked. So if youd rather prefer to bake them, I suggest brushing them with enough oil or extra barbecue sauce to be sure they stay moist.

While they cook, you can also prepare the simple vegan burger sauce by stirring together vegan mayonnaise, ketchup, and Sriracha. Once the patties are done cooking, serve with the burger sauce and your favorite toppings on buns. I topped my burgers with additional Homemade BBQ sauce, lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, and onions. However, also coconut bacon, dairy-free cheese, mustard, pickles, relish, etc. make great burger toppings!

30. Place the breadcrumb coated veggie patty in the medium hot oil. Batter coat another veggie patty in the same way and place it also in the pan.

Depending on the size of your pan, you can fry from 2 to 4 patties. The veggie mixture makes 4 regular burger sized patties.

2 to 3 tablespoons oil is used for pan frying 2 veggie patties. For frying 4 patties, you will need 4 to 6 tablespoons oil.

How To Store The Chickpea Patties

The chickpea veggie burgers store very well! Although they just take 15 minutes to make and you can easily make them quickly, you may want to make a big batch at one time and save some for later!

This vegan chickpea burgers recipe can store in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-5 days. Simply cook them and let cool completely before storing. You can even eat them cold!

You can store them in the freezer for 1-2 months. First, freeze them by laying the cooled chickpea burgers on a baking sheet so they arent touching. Once they are frozen, go ahead and put them in an airtight container!

To reheat, let them thaw and then head them in the microwave or warm them in the oven on medium heat for 10 minutes.

Beet And Sweet Potato Burgers

I have to admit that I have a long, slightly sordid history with veggie burgers. It all started in high school when Id inhale those meat flavored patties from the freezer section of the supermarket, doused in ketchup to mask their cardboard flavor. Gah!

Thank god my tastes have evolved since then . These gluten free veggie burgers are vibrant and flavor-packed, made with beets, sweet potatoes and chickpeas. Garlic, scallions, cumin and coriander give the burgers an incredible flavor.

Vegetarian Burgers On The Grill

For grillable veggie burgers that wont fall apart, start by preheating your grill on high. Cook the patties on a greased sheet of foil for 7-8 minutes per side.

Serve with your favorite burger toppingsketchup, mustard, avocado mayo, pickles, onions, relish, etc.on buns or in lettuce wraps for a lower carb option.

Feel free to use whatever beans you want in the recipe too, such as black beans for black bean veggie burgers, or white, kidney, or pinto beans.

Or you can make these 4-ingredient Black Bean Burgers.

My favorite option to go with is pinto beans because of their thick texture and similar color to traditional beef burgers.

And no, they are not supposed to taste exactly like meat. Similar to most of the veggie burger brandssuch as Boca, Amys, Morningstar Farms, Dr. Praegers, or Gardeinthat you can find in the frozen aisle of Whole Foods, Target, Walmart, and many regular grocery stores these days, the burgers are good in their own right, not as a substitute for something else.

If youre looking for a vegan burger that tastes so much like beef that even hardcore carnivores wont be able to tell the difference, check out either Beyond Meat or the Impossible Burger, both of which are becoming increasingly available even in bars or fast food restaurants like Burger King, White Castle, Dunkin Donuts, TGI Fridays, and Cheesecake Factory.

How Do You Keep Veggie Burgers From Falling Apart

Veggie burgers usually require a binder to hold them together, like eggs, but there are other egg-free binding options, too.

Here are a few ways to keep them together:

  • Use an egg substitute.Flax eggs are a popular choice.
  • Add a starchy ingredient. Adding flour or oats can help the burgers stick together, without using eggs.
  • Mash everything together well. The more pulverized the veggie burger mixture gets, the better the patties will stick together.
  • Keep the patty size reasonable. If you make the veggie burgers too large, they are more likely to fall apart. I recommend using a 1/3 cup measure when portioning out the patties.

The recipe below doesnt require any special egg substitutes! A mix of beans, veggies, and gluten-free oats will create perfect veggie burgers that dont fall apart.
