I have never used a toasters oven to make pizza, but I have used one to reheat pizza.

    But Back To The Pizza

Gluten Free, Dairy Free & Keto Stove Top Pizza Crust #keto ...

This pizza recipe isnt just for ketogenic diets or low carb enthusiasts. If youre gluten-free and youve ever tried to make gluten-free pizza dough, combining the various types of flours and getting the right texture and rise can be super frustrating. Heck, making pizza dough in general is a lot of work. Plus, why are the results not consistent when I do it? And who has time to wait for things to rise on a weeknight, am I right?

What I love about this recipe is its not a chemistry experiment like most bread and pizza-making. Its consistently delicious and works out every time.

I was a little hesitant to make a crust loaded with cheese and then put cheese on the cheese. That seems like a lot of fat to my dietitian brain. Dont get me wrong, cheese is one of my favorite foods and I cant get enough. But what about the calorie count on this pizza?

The great thing about this keto pizza is it fills you up fast so you cant eat as much of it. I can eat 6 pieces of regular pizza no problem and after 2 pieces of this keto pizza Im comfortably full. I want to eat more because its so delicious, but I physically cant. So overall, I probably eat fewer calories when I eat this keto pizza compared to the grain-based classic pie. And you will too!

How does this thin-crust pizza fill you up? Its loaded with protein and fat, nutrients that keep you satisfied and satiated.

    How To Make This Nut

To a microwave-safe bowl, add shredded mozzarella and cream cheese and transfer bowl to microwave. Microwave on high for 1 minute. Mix cheese mixture with spatula and microwave again for additional 30 seconds.

Remove bowl from microwave, add egg, and mix until ingredients are well-combined.

To bowl, add ground sunflower seed meal and salt and, using hands, knead the mixture together until fully incorporated.

Cover bowl with foil and transfer to the refrigerator to chill dough for 20-30 minutes.

Preheat oven to 400 degrees to come to temperature while dough chills.

After dough has chilled, remove bowl from refrigerator and transfer dough to parchment paper or silicone baking liner.

Place another piece of parchment paper atop dough and, using a rolling pin, roll dough out to about ¼ thick. Remove and discard top piece of parchment paper. Carefully slide a baking sheet beneath the parchment paper with the dough on top. Using a fork, gently prick dough all over. Transfer baking sheet to oven and bake until golden, about 10-12 minutes.

Remove baking sheet with crust from oven. Top with your favorite low-carb pizza toppings before baking again to melt the cheese you use and cook the vegetables or protein you decide to include.

How Does Fathead Pizza Dough Taste

It is a thin, crispy tasteless pizza crust. It doesnt have a cheese flavor at all and a very similar texture to regular wheat-based pizza crust with a slightly chewier texture in the center.

Most fathead pizza recipes add some flavoring to enhance the crusts flavor, like salt, garlic powder, or onion powder.

Can You Eat Pizza On A Keto Diet

Just because I listed a few famous pizzas that you shouldn’t eat on keto doesn’t mean there aren’t any.

In fact, not only can you find many keto-friendly options at some big local chain restaurants now, but there are some frozen options and great keto recipes you can use to get that fix.

Maybe you’re at a party, and they didn’t purchase any keto-friendly items you may be wondering if you can eat the toppings off the pizza. I have great news, most of the carbs are in the crust and a bit in the pizza sauce/ tomato sauce, so yes, you can keep it low carb by only eating the toppings.

Just don’t do the opposite and eat the crust without everything else, that’s a no-no. Cheese on keto is perfectly acceptable, and it’s a great way to get some much-needed calcium on keto as well, even things like Velveeta are ok in moderation.

If you’re interested in finding some keto pizza or making your own, I have some excellent news for you down below.

You Mention A Pizza Stone In Your Directions I Don’t Have One

First, I highly recommend getting a pizza stone if you don’t have one. It really makes a huge difference when you make gluten-free pizza.

But no worries. If you don’t have one, simply use a heavy baking sheet.

If you don’t have a heavy baking sheet then you can use a cookie sheet. Let it preheat in the oven just as you would a pizza stone.

You can do this before you make your gluten-free pizza dough.

    Origins Of Fathead Pizza Dough

The original recipe for low carb pizza from the Fathead movie contains almond flour. The classic combination of mozzarella and cream cheese to create a chewy texture. I thought it would be a perfect candidate to adapt into a nut-free keto pizza crust recipe.

If you havent heard of the Fathead movie, its a 2009 documentary seeking to refute the lipid hypothesis. The lipid hypothesis is the claimed link between high cholesterol and heart disease.

Its basically the source of the low fat way of eating promoted in the Western world since the 1950s. Although numerous studies have debunked the link , the belief is still widespread today and perpetuated by mainstream media.

In the documentary, Tom Naughton sticks to a moderately low carb diet of fast food for 30 days. To the surprise of many, Tom not only loses weight but also ends up with lower blood cholesterol levels.

And thanks to the film, we have the amazing keto Fathead pizza recipe as a result!

This nut-free Fathead pizza crust recipe is my adaptation, made with coconut flour. Since coconut flour is so absorbent, you need a lot less of it to replace the almond flour.

I used 1/3 cup coconut flour as a substitute, and also added an extra egg to impart additional moisture. I omitted the salt from the original recipe, because the cheeses are salty enough as is.

The almond flour gives a nice bite to the pizza and you can also use coconut flour. Dont expect the crust to be totally firm like the regular wheat crusts. This low carb version will be slightly softer, but you can still pick it up like a regular slice of pizza. But at least you have a version that allows you to enjoy pizza without all the carbs! Its a win-win recipe and perfect for pizza night without all the carb-guilt!

How To Make Low Carb Pizza Crust

    (15 Minute!) Gluten Free & Keto Pizza Crust #keto # ...

What I love about this crispy low carb pizza crust recipe is its incredibly fast and simple. The most difficult part about this recipe? Trying to decide what to top your keto almond flour pizza crust with!

Whisk together the four simple ingredients, roll out the dough thinly, and stick it in the oven for fifteen to twenty minutes. The prep only takes a few minutes, and you can go do something else while youre waiting for it to bake in the oven.

Who knew an almond flour pizza crust could be so easy?

Finally, top your paleo pizza crust with marinara sauce and your favorite toppings, then it goes back in the oven for another 10 minutes. Talk about an easy weeknight dinner.

Heres how to make low carb pizza crust:

    • Mix up the almond flour pizza dough. Mix together almond flour, coconut oil, eggs, and sea salt until a dough forms.

TIP: If you are sensitive to the taste of coconut and not strictly dairy-free, you can use ghee or butter in place of coconut oil.

    • Roll out the almond pizza crust. I like to use two layers of parchment paper to ensure there is no sticking. Poke the crust with a fork a few times before baking.
    • Bake the low carb almond flour pizza crust. The crust should be golden brown. It will take about 15-20 minutes.

TIP: Be sure to bake the crust on parchment paper, otherwise it will stick.

    • Top the pizza. Add desired toppings and bake for another 10-15 minutes.
    • Slice up your low carb pizza recipe.

With only 7 simple pantry ingredients, you will be able to serve a tasty pizza for dinner. The whole family will love it!

All you need to make this gluten-free pizza crust with almond flour are:

    • Almond flour I recommend using fine blanched almond flour to avoid a gritty texture. Read how to choose Keto flours.
    • Eggs or flax egg replace the egg with a combination of flaxseed meal and lukewarm water for a vegan keto pizza crust. See recipe notes for the exact measures and techniques.
    • Extra virgin olive oil or avocado oil or melted coconut oil. I dont recommend butter. Its flavor and texture would be closer to a quiche crust than to a keto pizza base.
    • Baking soda
    • Garlic powder
    • Onion powder
    • Instant dried yeast only for a boost of flavor and totally optional. While almond flour wont raise in contact with yeast, even if you activate it, this mimics the real pizza dough flavor.
