Mobile Ordering At Disney Springs With A Gluten Allergy
Yes, gluten free options are available in the mobile ordering section of the myDisney app. However, for those of you with severe allergies, Mobile Ordering is not the best option, and you need to walk up to the quick serve and talk to them about placing an order with a cashier and manager/chef.
Why? Because accidents happen- even with the chefs. The thing about mobile ordering is that the person that hands you the food is not the person that prepares it and there are huge concerns about misplaced food and cross contamination .
When you talk to a manager or a Chef then you can alert them to how serious your allergy is and they can limit the number of people touching your food.

Vacationing with any dietary needs can seem overwhelming and daunting at times! When I first went gluten-free,
I remember feeling very stressed out. What can I eat? Where will I eat? I just want to have fun while on vacation! But Walt Disney World is one of the best places to go when it comes to a special diet.
I found that a little bit of research and a lot of communication goes a long way! And eating gluten-free was not the challenge I thought it was going to be.
I love to share what I discover along the way, especially my sweet finds. And here are a few delicious gluten-free treats I found at Disney Springs!
What Is It Where Is It At And Is It Free Disney Springs Info
Disney Springs is in the same area as the previous Downtown Disney.
In fact, its just the downtown reimagined, with more restaurants and shops! Fun right!
Disney Transportation will bring you to the springs, you can still have things shipped home from the Disney Store and there are several Disney character spots for pictures.
Best of all, its free admittance, no park ticket required .
Its a super fun place for shopping or a late night with a fine dinner and getting some drinks.
For those that are familiar with the layout of the resorts, its across from Typhoon Lagoon and not too far from Epcot.
AND theres quite a few things you can do with kiddos that are free at Disney Springs. Sure it has a bar scene at night, but during the day its 100% family friendly fun!

Is The Gideon Story Real
It is genuine. Steve, the creator of Gideons, loves old books and bought a collection of books at an estate sale back in the early 2000s. In that purchase was the cookbook filled with writing and doodles with the Gideon name scribbled on the back. We look like an old victorian bakery paying tribute to the print date of the book, 1898, and answering the question, What would that creepy little kids bakery look like!?. Our inspirations were pulled from artist Edward Gorey and, of course, Disneys Haunted Mansion.
The Hollywood Brown Derby
This restaurant is expensive and nice. And its COLD inside which was amazing in the heat. They have a nice clear allergy menu and the waiter was very helpful. Even the bread rolls and butter were nut free. My daughter had grilled cheese that looked delicious and they had a safe ice cream sundae with gummy worms in it and they replaced the cookie with Enjoy Life cookies for her. She was in heaven. We were completely comfortable eating here.

Akershus Royal Banquet Hall
This is in Epcot. We went here for breakfast. There are no peanuts or tree nuts on site but they warned us the baked goods were a cross contamination risk, as was the granola. We got waffles off the buffet and they brought us a hot plate of eggs, potatoes, sausage and bacon with an allergy pick in it from the back. The food was decent but typical Disney breakfast fare. My girls LOVED all the princess interaction and the princess procession they joined walking through the restaurant. It was pricey but the waitress was very knowledgeable and kind and we felt safe. It was a solid character meal with our allergies.

Precautions You Should Take To Avoid Exposure
At the height of my sons issues, he could only have a handful of foods- though that has changed over the years. For many people, an allergen exposure can be severe.
So what precautions should you take?
For one, when you reserve dining, make sure to list your allergies Then CLARIFY at check in that you have allergies, get an allergen menu and ask to speak to a chef or manager. Same thing applies with quick service, ask to talk to a manager or chef- especially if you have more than one allergy and ESPECIALLY if you have a cashier that might seem like they dont know what they are doing.
For me, the times Ive had exposure was when the cashier/server didnt understand/didnt properly list the allergies/gave me incorrect information. In their defense, they arent necessarily trained in allergies- so talk to a chef or manager if you are concerned.

Dole Whip is one of those classic treats thats just synonymous with Disney World, so thank goodness its gluten-free! You can find this delicious citrusy treat at locations like Aloha Isle in Magic Kingdom, Pineapple Lanai at Disneys Polynesian Resort, and Tamu Tamu Refreshments at Animal Kingdom!

Be Our Guest Restaurant
This place is worth the work of getting a reservation! Download the Disney app and keep trying randomly and they pop up, especially 24-48 hours before the date. You can preorder food online before your trip, and the online menu allows you to filter by allergens. Preorder! It saves you lots of time in line to use the ordering screens. The thing that makes this place worth every penny is at lunch: the CUPCAKES. Theyre nut-free and theyre seriously the best cupcakes Ive ever had, nut free or otherwise. Allergy food comes out separately and with little allergy flags. They check your allergens at check in and again when you receive food. I always feel comfortable here and again try the grey stuff-it really is delicious!

Do You Ever Have Any Sales
No. If you dont mind us giving you a little business talk, our Cookie isnt high profit. The average in the food industry is a 300% markup, and were not anywhere close to that due to our almost 1/2 pound per Cookie, the massive amount of premium ingredients, and tons of labor that go into making a single Cookie. We try to keep our prices as low as possible all the time as we are blessed with the demand for high volume, and, when you think about it, its a great value. By the pound, were certainly the best-valued dessert in all the land.
Churros At Nomad Lounge
By now, you all know how much I love the gluten free churros at Nomad Lounge. I often wax poetic about these things. They are just soooooo good. I do not know what recipe the chefs at Nomad Lounge/Tiffins use, but these are gluten free for all customers, not just those with gluten allergies.
Both of the dipping sauces that come with the churros are also gluten free and add to the overall deliciousness of the churros. The sauces come in strawberry chili and vanilla cream flavors.
I am a girl who loves baked goods, and I miss them tremendously since eating gluten free. To be able to eat a batch of churros and not worry about feeling awful later is amazing. These are so good that Im willing to bet that most of the patrons at Nomad Lounge have no idea they are not made with wheat flour.
The biggest downside to the churros is that they are not exactly grab and go. Nomad Lounge is a sit down style establishment so will necessarily take up more time than grabbing a Mickey bar at a snack cart. But if youve read my review of Nomad Lounge, you know that I feel taking a break at Nomad Lounge is a great way to relax in the afternoon.
Update: You can now also get gluten free churros at Three Bridges at Coronado Springs Resort. Not exactly a convenient location, but good to know!

If you are looking for a unique sweet treat to have at Disney World, head over to the Port Orleans resort for some yummy gluten free Beignets! These come two ways, plain or as an Ice cream sundae!

Theres gluten free onion rings though rumor has it that theyve changed the batter since reopening in 2020 and theres also an entirely gluten free yes 100 bakery at Disney Springs called Erin Mckennas. Blaze Pizza- has several options for gluten free pizza as of updating this in. The Edison a table service restaurant featuring American cuisine is themed to look like a 1920s electric company with a steampunk twist.
