Peanut Butter Cornflake Bars

Gluten Free Product Reviews – Kelloggs Corn Flakes (Gluten Free)

I think its safe to say most childhood parties, potlucks or office morning teas in Australia would ALWAYS include cornflake cookies. Along with crunch bars, brownies, and rice crispy treats, they were always a favorite.

Cornflake cookies are an easy, no bake dessert or treat, flavored with honey , butter, sugar and of course, cornflakes. What I loved most about them was that they were super sticky, seriously addictive, but also SUPER SWEET.

If you attended any birthday party, youd arrive looking like gold and leave with sticky fingers and a golden grin.

Are There Any Health Benefits To Eating Oat Bran

Bottom Line: Research shows that oat bran may help relieve constipation in older adults by significantly reducing the need for laxatives. You can enjoy oatmeal in several ways. The most popular way is to eat plain oatmeal for breakfast. This is how you easily make oatmeal: combine the ingredients in a pan and bring to the boil.

Can I Eat Any Of Kelloggs Breakfast Cereals

Kelloggs regular cereals contain barley malt extract as a flavouring. Barley malt extract and malt flavourings are commonly made from barley, although they can be produced from other grains. Kelloggs gluten free cereals are listed in the food and Drink Information Service.

Foods that contain small amounts of barley malt extract can be eaten by people with coeliac disease if they contain 20 parts per million of gluten or less. However, these foods will still have barley highlighted in the ingredients list due to labelling laws, and you wont be able to tell how much has been used from the list alone, unless the product is labelled gluten free.

Previously, we listed products which contained barley malt extract in our Food Information listings if wed received confirmation that the product contained 20 ppm or less of gluten. Under our new policy, we are asking food manufacturers who produce products made with ingredients from gluten containing grains, such as barley malt extract, to not only confirm to us that their products have been tested and shown to have no more than 20 ppm gluten, but also to label them gluten free. In the absence of a gluten free label they will no longer be included in our Food Information listings. We are continuing to engage with the manufacturers to achieve a commitment to enable these products to be labelled gluten free in the future.

Review: Kelloggs Honey Nut Frosted Flakes

Are Kellogg

As a wise little green friend once said:

Always two there are no more, no less.

And while he may have been talking about an arcane order of insidiously apprenticed malevolence, I think the moral of that particular space opera applies to honey nut cereals, as well. See, Honey Nut Cheerios didnt become Americas favorite cereal off alleged heart-healthiness alone.

No, Buzzs magnum O-pus is far and away the most famous honey-nutted nectar on cereal shelves because it understands balance and simplicity like no other. The neutral-by-nature Cheerios base is basted with a simply satisfying glaze of golden, cozy honey and authentically ambrosial almond earthiness.

And thats it: always two enriching and bewitching flavors. No more, no less.

This minimalist breakfast mantra was on my mind when cracking open Kelloggs new Honey Nut Frosted Flakes. Tonys take on a honey nut cereal, set to debut everywhere in early 2019, is clearly tiger-eyeing Cheerios lion share of the niche.

But can a cereal already so sweet really add a veneer of honey and nut without sugar-watering it down? Its time to bee thorough.

Immediately the smell makes me fear a self-fulfilling prophecy. Smacking the nostrils with wispy floral sweetness that borders on Tony the Treacle, plastic-bagged Honey Nut Frosted Flakes smell like the sticky remnants of a Tim Hortons honey cruller tray.

Because it certainly tastes better than a Rupi Kaur book.

Why Frosted Flakes May Contain Gluten

Unlike a lot of processed cereals at your supermarket, Frosted Flakes don’t actually have too many ingredients. They’re primarily made of milled corn, which is a gluten-free food, according to the Kellogg’s website.

Quick recap: Gluten is a type of protein found in wheat, barley, rye and these grains’ derivatives, according to the Celiac Disease Foundation.

Although corn is gluten-free, the popular cereal also contains malt flavor, which may not be gluten-free and therefore may not be safe to eat on a gluten-free diet. Malt is a sweetener that’s made from barley, one of the three primary gluten-based grains.

Some cereals may contain malt that’s made of corn, which is gluten-free, according to registered dietitian Shena Jaramillo, RD. But unless it’s explicitly stated, you can assume the malt is barley-based and a cause for concern.

Frosted Flakes do not list barley in the ingredient list or gluten in the allergen listing, but the box also doesn’t boast a Gluten-Free label.

This label is regulated by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration and guarantees that the food contains less than 20 parts per million of gluten, a value that’s generally safe.

Before buying any processed food, including cereal, you’ll want to look for this label.

Bottom line: If you’re following GF diet, skip the Frosted Flakes.
