Where Can I Buy Vegan Chocolate

As mentioned above, you can find vegan chocolate chips at many regular grocery stores. Other good places to look include Whole Foods, local health food stores, Amazon, or iHerb. I like to buy Enjoy Life Mini Chocolate Chips on Amazon because they offer a lower price than most stores. If nothing else, you can always chop up a chocolate bar to make your own chocolate chips!

There are too many vegan chocolate bar options to list them all here, but some of my favorite fair-trade options include Theo, Pacari, Taza, Loving Earth, and Endangered Species brands. And there are so many more.

How To Freeze Cookie Dough

Gluten free Vegan Chocolate Chip Cookies

If you decided to make the cookie dough but not bake the cookies just yet, you can store the cookie dough wrapped in plastic wrap for up to 4 days, or in the freezer for up to 2 months.

I recommend pre-scooping them into cookie dough balls for an easy fridge-to-bake method. However, you can also store the whole cookie dough in the freezer.

Just let the cookie dough thaw for about 2 hours before scooping!

You are just going to LOVE these vegan chocolate chip cookies. Theyre seriously just so easy to make, and an absolute crowd pleaser for both kids and adults.

Enjoy, and happy baking!

Vegan Gluten Free Chocolate Chip Cookies

Im sure Im not unique in ranking breakfast cereal high on the childhood nostalgia scale, but in case youre not there yet, here you go. Its a complete breakfast, folks. A jingle wouldnt lie to you.

To be honest, I treated these guys as a snack, rather than breakfast, but you could do a lot worse than to start your day off with a bowl of these dudes with some unsweetened almond milk. Theyre gluten-free, sweetened with coconut sugar, and contain no palm oil or hydrogenated fats. And though the little guys pictured here used chocolate chips, cocoa nibs would work just as well.

Bonus: Vegan Gluten Free Chocolate Chip Cookies are incredibly easy to make. The dough is very forgiving and comes together in one bowl. The big trick to getting them to hold their shape in a bowl of milk is to let them sit out on a cooling rack overnight, to get just a bit stale. If you decide to cover them instead theyll stay moister and make a phenomenal mini cookie snack .

Ingredients And Substitutions For The Cookie Recipe

Coconut oil OR vegan butter: The fat you use in these cookies must be solid at room temperature, not liquid. I have used refined coconut oil, which has no coconut flavour or aroma. I have also used Earth Balance vegan butter. Both worked amazing, however I slightly preferred the vegan butter.

You can use either, however it MUST be solid when you use it in the recipe, but should not be very cold. When solid coconut oil is cold, it crumbles and wont combine properly with the other ingredients.

You could probably also use ghee in this recipe if you didnt mind if they werent vegan. And of course, regular butter will also work in this recipe!

Non-dairy milk: I like unsweetened almond milk best since it has some fat and is not too watery. But its such a small amount of milk that any nondairy milk would work just fine.

Brown sugar: You can also use coconut sugar, or a sugar free substitute like Golden Lakanto Sweetener. I have a 20% discount code if you decide you want to try the Lakanto monk fruit sweetener, however brown sugar works amazing as well!

Tips for the best vegan chocolate chip cookie recipe. Chocked full of pumpkin spice and chocolatey goodness for a delicious healthy snack. The cookies will be slightly fragile when hot but will hold together very well after about 5 minutes of cooling.

  • Freeze the dough. To freeze the dough, simply roll it into individual balls and place them on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Chill the dough in the freezer for 30 minutes. Once the cookie dough balls firm up, transfer them to a reusable freezer-safe bag or container for up to 3 months. When ready to bake, simply thaw out the dough and bake the vegan chocolate chip cookies as directed. Youll likely just need to add a few extra minutes of baking time!
  • Freeze the baked vegan chocolate chip cookies. You can also freeze your baked cookies for later. Wait for them to cool completely, then transfer them to a reusable freezer-safe bag or container lined with wax or parchment paper. I like to place them in a single layer to avoid any cookies breaking. Cookies will keep well for up to 2 months. Once ready to eat, simply thaw out at room temperature and enjoy.

How Are These Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Bars Gluten Free

To make these gluten free, I use a gluten free flour, and then use certified gluten free oats. If you dont need it to be gluten free, feel free to use regular flour and regular oats. Whether gluten free or not, I prefer rolled old fashioned oats.

Lately, Ive been lazy and havent been making my own gluten free flour mix. Ive been using a pre-made mix. If you use mine, or another mix that does not include xanthan, youll want to add 3/4 teaspoon xanthan gum. When purchasing a store bought mix, look for one that is a rice/potato/tapioca blend. If you cant find that, one that has sorghum added to the blend does well too.

Is Vegan Cookie Dough Safe To Eat

Many people try not to eat regular cookie dough, as it contains raw eggs. However, vegan cookie dough is also tricky, as it contains raw flour. Flour can be a sneaky source for E. Coli so its best to not eat raw cookie dough, vegan or not!

That being said, if youre by chance using heat-treated flour, then your vegan cookie dough can be safer to eat, much like edible cookie dough!

Tips For Making The Perfect Vegan Cookies:

Make sure all ingredients are room temperature! If your applesauce is chilled and the coconut oil or vegan butter is room temperature, it will cause the oil to split and yield messy cookies.

Spoon and level the flour: too much flour will result in cake-y cookies. Be sure to spoon and level your flour, NOT scoop!

Make these gluten free: Ive tried them using gluten free 1:1 baking flour, and they work perfectly!

Need lower sugar? No problem! Reduce the sugar content by 25% for an even healthier vegan chocolate chip cookie!

Look for crisp edges: dont worry- theyll still be safe to eat if the center is still soft in the middle! Leaving them slightly golden and soft in the middle directly after baking will allow for the perfect texture. Just allow the cookies to cool for 15 minutes so that they firm up!

Using regular sugar will yield a lighter looking cookie

A Few Tips And Tricks To This Recipe

  • These cookies only need 10 minutes to bake. This is the perfect sweet spot to achieve cookies with a crispy outside and chewy inside.
  • Allow the cookies to cool on the cookie tray for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack. This helps to prevent them from falling apart.
  • Store the cookies for up to 5 days in an airtight container at room temperature.
  • You can also store any extra cookie dough for up to 2 months in the freezer. When you are ready to bake, simply pop the on a cookie tray and into a pre-heated oven.
  • If you do not have any gluten sensitivities, feel free to substitute Gluten-Free All-Purpose Flour with Regular All-Purpose Flour. The substitution is 1 to 1. Be sure to omit the almond flour if you are not making these gluten free.
  • I like to make my treats refined sugar free, just to make them a bit healthier. If you do not have maple syrup or coconut sugar or hand, you can substitute 3/4 cup white sugar for maple syrup and 1/2 cup brown sugar for coconut sugar.
  • The flax egg is not completely necessary, it just helps to bind the ingredients together just a bit more and also adds a bit of protein and omega-3s. Feel free to omit the flax egg.
  • Dont have any vegan butter on hand? No worries, you can substitute it with 1/2 cup coconut oil.
  • Oatmeal Cookies: The 5th Way

Here are two different ways to enjoy your vegan gluten free cookies with oatmeal. The first way has a super secret ingredient, while the second way is decadently chewy. See for yourself:

Made with one secret ingredient, this is my favorite vegan oatmeal chocolate chip cookie because it sneaks in a few more filling ingredients and goes heavier on the oats rather than the oat flour.
