Tips For Making The Best Gluten
- You do not need to toast the gluten-free bread before making the stuffing. Gluten-free bread is a lot dryer than traditional bread.
- Make sure you check the label of the chicken broth. A lot of broths are not gluten-free. I make my own by using Orrington Farms Chicken Flavored Broth Base. I buy it at Walmart.
- You can easily add your favorite stuffing mix-ins like cooked sausage, chopped nuts, or other vegetables.
How To Freeze Stuffing
If you have left-overs , stuffing is easy to freeze. Place your completely cooled stuffing in a freezer-friendly air-tight container or plastic freezer bag. You can freeze stuffing for several months.
Defrost the stuffing in the refrigerator overnight. You can reheat the stuffing in the oven at 350°F for 15- 20 minutes or in the microwave.
How To Make Stuffing With Gluten
1 Preheat oven and prep bread:Preheat your oven to 300 degrees.Cut bread into small even sized cubes. In a large bowl, toss pieces with oil, salt and pepper.
2 Toast bread pieces: Place cubed bread in an even single layer on a baking sheet pan and bake until they are toasted but not burned. Set aside to cool. Raise the heat on the the oven up to 350.
3 Saute veggies:Heat up butter in a large skillet. Then, add chopped celery, onion and garlic. Sauté for 7-10 minutes over medium high heat or until vegetables begin to soften.
4 Mix everything together: Transfer softened veggies to a large bowl. Add toasted bread, herbs, coconut aminos and chicken to the bowl. Toss gently. Then, add whisked egg to the bowl and toss together until everything is coated evenly and the mix-ins are well-distributed.
5 Bake: Spread stuffing into a greased casserole dish, cover and bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes. Uncover and bake for an additional 10 to 15 minutes or until the top becomes toasted and browned.Serve hot along with your favorite gluten-free Thanksgiving and holiday foods.

Help With Gluten Free Holiday Recipes
We are pleased to report that Aldi recently has added two seasonal items to its liveGfree product portfolio. The new additions can make holiday meal preparation just that much easier for shoppers with Celiac Disease and others who are avoiding gluten.
Now in stores:
- LiveGfree Gluten Free Stuffing Available in two varieties: Turkey and Chicken stuffing in a 6-oz. box priced at $2.89 each. Both are made with brown and white rice flour and a special blend of spices. I bought the Turkey variety to try, primarily because the box includes gluten-free bread cubes. Ill more than likely use them as an ingredient in my own recipe to make gluten-free stuffing from scratch.
Note: If you havent already, start saving your gluten-free bread heels and other old pieces of gluten-free bread. I save up for months and then usually combine with some store-bought gluten-free stuffing cubes. Whole Foods carries some from its Gluten-Free Bakehouse in the frozen section. But get there early or buy when you see them because theyre only available for a limited time and often sell out quickly.
- LiveGfree Gluten Free French Fried Onions The gluten-free topping needed for the quintessential casserole for the holidays, as Frenchs Food Company describes it on its website. The original FRENCHS Green Bean Casserole recipe obviously calls for FRENCHS Crispy Fried Onions, but they are NOT gluten free. Enter Aldi with its own liveGfree store brand version for the assist.

Best Cornbread Stuffing Mix: Aldis Chefs Cupboard Cornbread Stuffing Mix
The holiday wizardry coming from Aldis product development HQ is officially unmatched. Not only did their unassuming red box take the top marks in the traditional stuffing taste test, but it was also by far the best-tasting cornbread stuffing mix. Homemade cornbread stuffings consist of a combination of tiny crumbles that soak up the broth and slightly larger crouton-sized bites. The non-winning stuffing mixes were made of oversized cubes or nothing more than moistened breadcrumbs, but Aldis stuffing mix had a balance of both. The result was a slightly sweet, full of onion and herb-y flavored cornbread stuffing. Bonus: Its also less than $1.

How I Tested The Stuffing Mixes
I purchased every variety of boxed or bagged dry stuffing mix I could find from all of the grocery stores in my area. Back in my kitchen, I divided them into their respective categories and prepared each stuffing according to the stovetop instructions, using the same brand of butter and broth across the board to prepare the mixes even when water was called for in the instructions. I did not include any extras, such as celery or onion, in order to discern the distinct flavor of each mix on its own. I tasted them in category-aligned batches and was so surprised by the first winner I needed a minute to pick my jaw up off the floor afterwards. Groups two and three were equally as exciting, if not surprising. Here are my picks for the best of each category.
Why Start With A Cake Mix
During the holiday season, I make many, many dozens of cookies. But cookies are by far the easiest dessert to throw together when someones had a bad day and needs a pick-me-up. Starting with a cake mix means that I can have cookies baked in less than 10 minutes longer than the time it takes for them to bake in the oven.
In my second cookbook, Gluten Free on a Shoestring Quick & Easy, I have a whole chapter on make-your-own baking mixes. I promise I understand that the whole point of purchasing a ready-made cake mix is the convenience, though!
But it can be difficult to find a really good quality boxed gluten free cake mix, mostly because the flours tend to be gritty and the blends unbalanced . But if you have one that you love, use that! Just make sure that its a full 16 ounces of mix.

Livegfree Chicken Or Turkey Gluten Free Stuffing Mix
Weve tried plenty of stuffing mixes from Aldi over the years. During the holiday months and in the leadup to Thanksgiving, the discount grocer store rolls out several varieties of stuffing, from traditional boxed stuffing mixes to bagged stuffing mixes, to Hawaiian stuffing and even sourdough stuffing mixes. One year we even spotted riced cauliflower stuffing. In our ongoing quest to sample all of the Aldi stuffing options, this year we picked up a couple of gluten free types to try.
