By Step Instructions For Gluten Free Chicken Strips

Gluten Free Chicken Tenders

Preheat the oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit, and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Set aside.

Take out 3 shallow, flat-bottomed containers. I used some rectangular glass Tupperware. In the first bowl, add the rice flour. The eggs and non-dairy milk go in the second bowl. Whisk to combine well.

In the bowl of a food processor, add the cereal and spices. Pulse multiple times until it resembles bread crumbs. Add this mixture to the third bowl.

Take a chicken tender and dip into the rice flour, making sure it’s completely coated. Add the tender to the egg mixture and let any excess drip off into the container.

Lastly, dip the tender into the cereal-herb mixture, making sure that is completely coated well with no bare spots at all.

Transfer the covered chicken tender to the baking sheet, and repeat this process with the remaining chicken.

If you have some sort of cooking spray, be sure to spray the top of the tenders. If you do not, do not worry about it it will just help them brown a bit more.

Bake at 425 degrees Fahrenheit for 10 minutes on the top rack. Turn the oven to a high broil for 3 minutes. Flip them over and cook for an additional 4 minutes at 425 again. Return the temperature to a high broil and broil for the last 3 minutes.

Remove from the oven and serve with honey mustard sauce.

How To Store Leftover Chicken Fingers

Gluten Free Breaded Chicken Tenders

Baked chicken tenders will last for up to 4 days in the fridge. Keep them in an airtight container or Ziploc bag.

Reheat in the oven or microwave. Note that if reheating in the microwave, the breading will not be as crisp but honestly, kids never seem to notice!

If they do, they crisp up great in the toaster oven or air fryer. I love having leftovers for them to have a quick lunch the next day.

Let Your Chicken Strips Sit In The Batter Before Cooking It

This simple recipe takes about 40 minutes from start to finish. But theres still a built-in make-ahead option, if you batter the chicken and let it sit in the refrigerator.

That method helps ensure that your chicken will bake to an extra crispy texture, too. The batter tenderizes the raw chicken pieces, and also helps protect them from the direct heat of the oven.

So try letting the coated chicken pieces sit for even just 10 minutes before breading them. If you dont have the time, dont worry. I think of it as crispy insurance!

Can I Make Chicken Tenders With Different Flavored Spices

Yes! I like to make the simplest vegetable bouillon powder for this recipe, since I use it to make gluten free Rice a Roni all the time.

But I also sometimes substitute the bouillon with our gluten free taco seasoning with great results. Serve it with sriracha mixed with mayonnaise or sour cream, but only if you want rave reviews!

Since the batter is so thick, it really clings to the chicken. So all of those spices make it into the chicken youre eating.

The vegetable bouillon powder just adds a rich, chicken-style flavor to the stripseven though its vegetarian.

Be sure not to just leave out the herbs and spices, then. Youll want that flavor!

Tips For Making The Best Gluten Free Chicken Tenders Recipe

Allergy Free Gluten-free Southern Fried Chicken Tenders

I’ve tested this recipe for you, so I know all of the tips and tricks to get super crispy gluten free chicken tenders, every time.

  • Don’t Overcrowd the Pot: Cook 3-4 pieces of chicken at a time in your Dutch oven or pot. Too many pieces of chicken will lower the temperature of the oil more than you want, and the tenders won’t cook evenly.
  • Use Same Size Chicken Pieces: For best cooking results, you should use chicken tenders or pieces that are all the same size and thickness. If needed, you can pound thicker tenders to make them thinner. If you’re cutting up chicken breasts, cut them into 4-5 inch long, ½ inch thick pieces.
  • Keep an Eye on Oil Temperature: If the oil gets too hot, you’ll end up with burnt breading and undercooked chicken. The oil should stay at or slightly below 350°F throughout the cooking process. I highly recommend using a thermometer to check the oil temperature, but also, use your eyes to know if the oil is too hot. If you notice that when you put a chicken tender in the oil that it bubbles furiously then the oil is too hot. If you don’t see any bubbles, the oil is too cold.
  • Keep Your Hands Clean: I don’t like the way my fingers feel when I’m breading things, so I like to use tongs both while breading the chicken and while cooking it.

How To Cook With Frozen Chicken Nuggets

Yes, you can definitely just heat these up in the oven and serve as-is. However, because the serving sizes are typically pretty small, you need to incorporate frozen chicken nuggets into a larger meal.

These types of convenience foods usually work in your favor the most when you use them as a shortcut: buffalo chicken wraps, for example, come together a lot quicker when youre not cooking the breaded chicken bites from scratch.

While frozen chicken nuggets arent as healthy as what you bake at home, buying them is often a better choice than stopping at McDonalds for dinner. Why? Because you can boost the nutrition content of your meal. Pair chicken nuggets with fresh veggies or a salad and a healthy whole grain, like brown rice or quinoa, instead of opting for fries and a milkshake at the drive-thru window.

What Is The Difference Between Nutritional Yeast And Regular Bakers Yeast

Nutritional yeast is a type of food product that has been created specifically to be consumed.

Its used in cooking and tastes nutty, savory or cheesy depending on the variety you use.

Unlike regular bakers yeast which comes alive when it leavens bread, nutritional yeast cant multiply.

This is because its cells have already died during manufacturing so dont expect this cheese-like seasoning mix growing exponentially!

What Is The Difference Between Chicken Tenderloins And Tenders

Tenderloins are from a specific section of the chicken breast. This cut is located under the breast and is actually a thin muscle. It doesnt get much exercise, hence the tenderness of the meat.

Chicken tenders can either be made with tenderloins or are pieces of the actual breast itself cut into strips. These breast meat cuts dont get quite as juicy or, well, tender, as true tenderloins.

You can use either tenderloins or chicken breast strips to make this recipe!

Step 2: Whisk the egg in a bowl. Add a piece of chicken and coat in the egg mixture.

Step 3: Add seasonings to the bread crumbs and whisk to mix. Dip in a piece of chicken and press it into the crumbs to coat both sides.

HINT:I recommend using a high heat tolerant oil like avocado or canola.

Another Trick I Used Was Double

Say whattttt? But my mama told me not to double-dip!

Double dipping is typically frowned upon, but in this case, it is totally acceptable! Repeat the coating process twice before baking your tenders.

What youll do: dredge a chicken tender in your egg mixture, letting excess egg drain off before dredging in rice crumb mixture. THEN, dredge tender once more in egg and rice crumb mixture. Finally, transfer the tenders to the prepared baking sheet.

    What Ingredients Do You Need

You don’t need much to have gluten free chicken strips to come together beautifully. The magic is in the simplicity- truly.

You can use either brown rice flour or white rice flour for the recipe.

I recommend using shallow and rectangular vessels for dipping the breast tenders into.

It makes it a nice and easy process and there will be less mess.

Be sure to trim any excess fat off the breast tenders if you’d like, too.
