Storage Tips For These Gluten Free Dinner Rolls
I dont ever recommend freezing raw yeast dough. It may not rise after having been frozen.
These rolls should be eaten within the same day they were baked. Ideally, youll serve them hot out of the oven.
However, that sort of planning isnt always possible. And I also dont recommend letting the dough rise in the refrigerator for more than 24 hours, as the oven rise tends to be very irregular during baking when you do that.
There are two potential solutions to this issue.
First, this recipe makes 16 small dinner rolls, which is quite a lot. It can easily be halved just by cutting every single ingredient amount in half.
If you make 8 rolls instead of 16, they should be eaten all in one sitting. If youre only baking for 1 or 2, try cutting the recipe down to 25%.
Second, if youd like to try parbaking the shaped and risen rolls, you can then freeze them for at least a month. Just defrost at room temperature, then finish baking until fully browned and 190°F inside.
To parbake the rolls, follow the recipe through baking , but only set the oven to 300°F. Bake for about 15 minutes or until the rolls appear puffed and are no longer wet inside.
Remove the rolls from the oven, and allow them to cool completely. Freeze in a single layer, then wrap tightly in freezer-safe wrap.
Eliminate as much air as possible, which causes freezer burn. Defrost at room temperature and then finish baked as described above.

Freeze The Parbaked Gluten Free Pizza Crust
If youd prefer to have a half-baked crust on hand, dinner can be as easy as a premade, packaged frozen pizza crust. Just follow the recipe instructions through step 3 below.
After the crust has been parbaked for about 7 minutes in a 400°F oven, allow it to cool completely. Once the crust has cooled completely, wrap it very tightly. I like Glad Press n Seal freezer for this sort of thing.
Place the parbaked crust in the freezer for up to a month. Even better than Press n Seal is a food sealer that removes all trapped air from the container, since trapped air is what causes freezer burn.

What Do You Need To Make Gluten Free Doughballs
That’s right, all you need to make my gluten free cheese doughballs is self-raising gluten free flour and yoghurt!
In fact, the exact quantities and ingredients you’ll need are:
- 300g self-raising gluten free flour
- 300g natural yoghurt
And if you want to make these extra special, you’ll also need:
- 20g melted butter
- ½ tsp garlic paste
Mix this together and it makes a dreamy dip for your warm-from-the-oven doughballs, or brush it on top of them for an extra flavour dimensions.
This genius combination has been doing the rounds on the internet for years, but most people use it to make flatbreads or naan breads .
It’s a combination that I’ve used for a long time, but today I stopped and thought – what if I used this to make gluten free cheesy doughballs?
And the results, I must say, are just INCREDIBLE.

Plus, homemade gluten-free pizza has such a unique taste, something you cant get from a delivery. And a lot of times, I prefer the taste of homemade gluten-free pizza.
Par Baking Pizza Crusts
Who doesnt love the convenience of pulling a frozen pizza out and shoving it in the oven? Well next time you make this recipe , make two and freeze one! My gfJules Pizza Crust Mix actually makes 2-3 large pizzas already, so if youre not in the mood for two large pizzas today, youll be set, because you can easily par bake one and freeze it for later!
Follow the instructions for making, spreading and rising the pizza just as you would normally, but then bake it at 450F for only about 5 minutes, or until the dough has puffed and is starting to look a bit dry but not brown.
Remove the crust to cool to room temperature and then either cover with toppings or not, your choice. Either way, at that point, wrap the pizza well with plastic wrap twice. This will prevent freezer burn. If you know youll be keeping it in the freezer for a few weeks or even a month, Id suggest another layer of foil, as well.
When youre ready for gluten free pizza next time, preheat your oven to 500F, then remove the foil and plastic wrap. If you havent already topped it previously, add sauce and toppings now.
Place the frozen gluten free pizza on your favorite pan or pizza stone and place it in the preheated oven, baking until the crust is browned and your toppings are melted, at least 10 minutes.

Notes On Ingredients And Substitutions For These Gluten
- While I recommend you use SAF Instant Yeast to cut the rising time, yes, you can use regular, active dry yeast in this recipe. Use the same amount of yeast called for, but go ahead and proof the yeast in the warm water with a bit of sugar. Then you are going to need to extend the rising time for the rolls by at least double what I have listed here.
- I do not recommend using any flour blend with coconut flour in it! I tried this recipe with Gluten Free Mamas Coconut Flour Blend as well, but alas I didnt have good results. I wouldnt recommend using any flour blend with coconut flour in it for this recipe. The problem is that coconut flour really absorbs the liquids in a recipe, and mine turned out like hockey pucks.
- Yes, you can make this egg-free if you need to. I have tried GFMs egg free option and it worked well & tasted great! Gluten Free Mama recommends this egg free option: ¼ cup water + 1 Tbsp. ground flaxseed. Simmer water and flaxseed over medium low heat for about 5 minutes until thickened. Stir frequently. Allow to cool. This is equal to one egg.
- Yes, you can make this dairy-free if you need to. Substitute the 2 Tablespoons of butter for a good dairy-free margarine or Spectrum organic shortening, melted. You can also either not brush the finished rolls, or brush with a good tasting dairy-free margarine.
Oil Your Baking Surfaces
Gluten free doughs tend to be a bit more sticky than traditional wheat flour pizza doughs. Greasing your baking surfaces will stop your crust from sticking to the sheet or pan that youre using. Using a silicone baking mat is also a great way to keep your crust from sticking. These non-stick baking mats are often used as a replacement for parchment paper and they dont require any greasing.

Ive tried my hand at all kinds of different pizza doughs since being gluten free. From long winded and complicated to super simple ones, some great and not so great, but Im obsessed with this yoghurt based recipe now! Ive already made it a couple of times in just the last few days alone. lol I dont want to repeat everything I said in my previous post about it, but its basically such a quick and simple recipe to make, the dough is easy to handle and the result has a great texture and taste.
Its also quite versatile and I cant wait to incorporate the idea in different types of dough as well as playing around with it to see what posher versions of pizza dough I can come up with.
But for now, here it goes in the form easy gluten free pizza dough balls!

Spend a espresso or spice grinder or mortar and pestle to grind the psyllium, flax and chia seeds to a dazzling powder. Dont be intimidated to make pie crust! Pie may remain frozen for up to two months. Top filled pie with rolled out top using parchment paper to help transfer.
