Can You Eat Pasta On The Keto Diet
Yes, you can eat pasta on the keto diet. But it has to be the right kind of pasta.
Traditional pasta made from wheat flour is not keto friendly, but there are so many keto pasta alternatives out there.
Theres no reason to give up pasta all together, just make sure youre choosing a keto pasta recipe.
Egg Noodles Shapes Options
When you will have a look at our video, you will see 2 different ways of cutting them as well.
The first one is pretty easy, where all you have to do, is roll the baked dough into a log and with a sharp knife cut the thickness you prefer.
The second option is to let the sheets go through a pasta machine, where you can choose a really thin spaghetti-like shape noodles. Those I have used for our Turmeric Keto Egg Noodles.

Explore Asian Black Bean Spaghetti
You may have seen this product sold in a bag before. A couple years ago they switched over to a box.
In addition to the new packaging, they also shortened the name to Explore Cuisine from Explore Asian Authentic Cuisine.
The Explore Cuisine brand does make soup too, but by far the lions share of their business is the unique GF pasta noodles made with beans. They have 20 to 25 grams of protein per 2 ounce serving.
That plate of pasta you saw at the top of the article was made using this product.
- Extremely high fiber. As mentioned above, too much of a good thing can sometimes be bad. At 12 grams per serving, thats 48% of your daily value. If you eat 2 servings for your meal then you are basically getting your entire daily value of fiber at once. That might wreck havoc on the digestive tract of an elderly person who has a slower moving system.
- Expensive in-store. The price your local Whole Foods charges may or may not be a bargain, at least from our experience.
- Finicky cooking time. The box says to cook it for 6 to 8 minutes. Even at 6 minutes, it often turns into a complete mush for us. To avoid this, we recommend cooking for 5 minutes sharp and draining promptly, which solves the problem.
What Is Gluten Free Pasta Made From
Gluten free pasta can be found in many different variations using a variety of ingredients. Gluten free pasta is made most commonly from legumes, rice, corn, quinoa, or a combination. You can also find other gluten- and grain-free pastas made from almond flour, cassava flour, and even hearts of palm. We like to keep things simple, at ZENB we use one whole ingredient, the yellow pea. Our peas are milled, cooked, dried, and made into our yellow pea pasta in three shape variations: Penne, Fusilli and Macaroni. Not only is our pasta gluten free, its also high in protein, fibre and potassium, and a source of iron*.

What Carbohydrates Should A Diabetic Avoid
It is best to avoid fast carbohydrates. These cause many peaks and fluctuations in your glucose levels. Peaks and fluctuations reduce your concentration, influence your behavior, and are bad for your body. In the long term, they can cause complications. The fast carbohydrates are, for example, in potatoes, white pasta, white rice, white bread, sweets, cakes, ice cream, and soft drinks. You can always replace your pasta meals with low-carb pasta.

Does Gluten Free Pasta Contain Fibre
Generally speaking, gluten-free diets can often lack fibre due to the flours used to produce gluten-free goods. Fibre is an important part of a healthy, balanced diet. A gluten free diet can be low in fibre and wholegrains due to the removal of the cereals wheat, rye and barley. Depending on the ingredients used for your favourite wheat-free pasta brands, pasta can contain vastly different amounts of fibre pasta made from peas, lentils and brown rice for example, tends to be high in fibre.
ZENBs pasta provides a high nutritional value of fibre with a whole 11g Fibre per 85g serving of uncooked pasta. Did we mention that we use the entire yellow pea? Proti Fit Protein Enriched Pasta
Proti Foods is a brand owned by Vital Nature Inc. out of San Antonio. Protidiet is a program based on eating protein rich foods for weight loss purposes.
In those glycemic index measurements reported by the University of Sydney, we mentioned how the lowest glycemic pasta out of the 35 tested happened to be gluten free. Which brand was that? This one.
Though you cant say its the lowest GI rated, as there were less than 10 in their database and none of the others on this list were in it. This is a good one for diabetics but really, we would expect all of the brands on this list to test as low to moderate.
- 20 grams of protein per serving. At 110 calories per serving it seems too good to be true and it kind of is, because each serving is only 31 grams . So in terms of the energy you get from it, youre basically getting only half of the typical 2 ounce serving size as seen with the others. Regardless, this brand does offer the highest percentage of calories coming from protein content.
- Very low carb. 6 grams is 2% of daily value.
- No soy or corn. Due to allergies a gluten free, soy free pasta is an important requirement for many. You can check both of those boxes with this brand. Also, it is without xanthan gum.

Barilla Red Lentil Penne
The classic pasta brand Barilla now makes a line of legume products. Their legume pastas are only made with one ingredient, in this case, red lentil flour. And that’s a huge plus in our book. With 13 grams of protein per serving, this is a smart pick for those looking for high-protein options. However, just like some other picks on this list, the 34 grams of carbs with only 6 grams of fiber makes this a pretty carb-heavy option.

Once the sauce is complete, youll toss your noodles in the skillet and incorporate them well. Garnish with fresh parsley and bellissimo!

Banza doesn’t quite have the same amount of fiber and protein as some of the other pulse pasta brands, but the taste and texture alone is worth it.

This Shirataki Spinach Fettuccine from Thrive Market also contains spinach powder for a dose of antioxidants and fun color.
