How To Make Flax Eggs

Review of “Bob’s Red Mill Gluten Free Pancake Mix”

Mix one tablespoon of flaxseed meal with 2 ½ tablespoons of water.

Let it sit for a minute and it should thicken up. That’s it!

If you are gluten free you need a simple Gluten Free Pancake recipe like this one. They are extremely versatile and can be used to make all sort of yummy pancake variations…

How To Make Fluffy Gluten Free Pancakes

Ive made this recipe over and over again, enough times to perfect it and make sure it yields a soft and delightful gluten-free pancake every single time.

The secret to making the best gluten-free pancakes is fresh baking powder. While we all have baking powder in our pantries, its important to note that after 9 months from opening it begins to quickly decline its rising power.

Meaning, its ability to provide your pancake batter lift and help them rise declines quickly or stops working. This is the culprit to gluten-free pancakes not coming out as fluffy as they should with this recipe.

How To Thicken Pancake Mix

If your pancake mix doesnt have the required consistency and youve already used up your batter mix, try not to worry, there are lots of things you can do to salvage it!

  • Add more flour. The easiest way to thicken your batter is to add flour. Of course, make sure that youre adding gluten-free flour. Flour is the perfect thickening agent but be careful not to add too much. You dont want your pancakes to have a grainy texture!
  • Add dry ingredients. Adding ingredients such as gluten-free oats or cornmeal is also a quick way to thicken your batter, however, the texture will definitely not be smooth! Although it does make for much healthier pancakes.
  • Buttermilk powder. Much like flour, buttermilk powder is great at thickening. You may need to add more baking powder to ensure you get enough rise from your pancakes
  • Eggs. Eggs are a great way to thicken the batter. Youll definitely not have dry pancakes if you add an egg to your batter mix. However, the taste of egg may become quite overpowering, so if youre not a lover of eggs, this may not be the best option
  • Pancake Mix. Thats right one of the easiest ways to thicken your mix is to add more of your dry pancake mix to the batter, like the Bobs Red Mill Gluten Free pancake mix.

How To Make Gluten Free Pancakes

To make gluten free pancakes simply whisk all the dry ingredients together in one large bowl. Melt the butter and allow to cool for a minute or two, then mix all the wet ingredients in another bowl.

Fold the wet ingredients into the dry and stir well. Add more almond milk in small amounts until you get the consistency you want. I kept mine thick but you can easily get thinner pancakes by adding more milk. Add any add ins as desired.

Heat the griddle to 350 degrees and melt some butter on it. Grill pancakes a few minutes per side until cooked through. The butter helps the pancakes to brown but these do not brown like regular pancakes.

    Which All

Bob’s Red Mill | Gluten Free Pancakes | A Review

There are a lot of gluten-free flours out there, and it can be hard to know which one is best to use for different recipes. My favorite one for this recipe is Bobs Red Mill 1:1 Gluten Free All Purpose Flour. A lot of people have commented that theyve successfully made this recipe using King Arthurs Gluten-Free flour too.

Two flours that we know dont result in great pancakes are Namaste and the Costco flour. While those two flours might be great options for other recipes, they are not the best fit for this recipe and will not yield the fluffy consistency that the other gluten-free flours produce with this recipe.
