The products were manufactured by Perdue Foods, LLC of Perry, Georgia. They were marked with UPC barcode 72745-80656 and distributed to retail locations nationwide.
The recall has been categorized as a Class I recall, indicating the use or consumption of the product will cause serious adverse health consequences and even death.
Perdue Foods is the largest producer of organic chicken in the United States and distributes its products nationwide to thousands of retailers. Customers are being asked to check their freezers to ensure no remaining recalled products is eaten.

Perdue Foods, in cooperation with USDA, has voluntarily recalled 31,703 pounds of refrigerated, fully cooked gluten free breaded organic chicken tenders, whole grain breaded organic chicken breast strips and whole grain breaded organic chicken breast nuggets under the PERDUE® SIMPLY SMART® Organics brand because of the potential that the product may contain pieces of bone. All of the SIMPLY SMART® items are no longer in stores and are past their use-by date of May 20, 2019.
Also included in the recall are frozen, fully cooked breaded chicken tenders and fully cooked whole grain chicken strips under the CHEF QUIK® brand for foodservice only.

Possible wood contamination has led to the recall of more than 68,000 pounds of gluten-free chicken nuggets from Perdue Foods, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service says.
The agency said there are no confirmed cases of illness linked with the ready-to-eat chicken nuggets, which were produced on Oct. 25, 2018, CNN reported.
“The problem was discovered when the firm received three consumer complaints that wood was found in the product,” according to a FSIS statement.
