What Is Gluten Free Pizza Crust Made Of

This yeast dough starts with one cup of warm water. It should be about body temperature or slightly warmer. Be careful not to use hot water, which will kill yeast, and cold water, which wont allow it to activate.

    • Warm Water: 1 cup, about body temperature .
    • Instant Dry Yeast: This usually comes in little packets of about two teaspoons, so youll need a packet . Its also known as Rapid Rise or Fast-Acting, and doesnt need to be proofed.
    • Gluten-FreeFlour: As weve talked about, this recipe uses two cups of gluten-free, 1:1 flour.
    • Salt: A teaspoon of salt seasons the crust perfectly!
    • Sugar: I like to add one tablespoon of sugar for a little flavor boost.
    • Baking Soda: ¼ teaspoon of baking soda is important for the texture of this pizza crust.
    • Olive Oil: Youll only need about a tablespoon of olive oil for this recipe.

How Does Dominos Gluten Free Pizza Taste

When I went gluten free early on, Dominos gluten free pizza was my very first experience with a gluten free pizza. I remember when I got it, my first reaction was, is this it? I just paid how much for this tiny pizza?!

So its considerably more expensive than a regular pizza, it better taste good.

Oh its burnt Well I think since its a really thin crust, they cook it too long. I had ordered a few over the early stages of my gluten free diet and each time they were burnt.

But the taste Yea its ok. I go with extra cheese and extra sauce. The crust is nothing to write home about. There are better options out there. For the cost, its not worth it. It scratches the pizza itch, thats about it.

If you are not worried about cross contamination, then go ahead, but there are so many other better options out there.

    Pizza.

I dont know about you, but once I started eating a gluten free diet, this became one of my top priorities to figure out:

Find gluten free pizza. Find the best gluten free pizza.

For a date night a while back, my sweet husband took me to a pizza place that had the coveted gluten free pizza crust. I was thrilled. And extra thrilled that I didnt have to bring my own dinner .

That experience, however, can be summed up in one word:

    Disappointment. .

It was not good pizza. It was edible, sure. But it wasnt good.

Perhaps youve had a similar experience?

The joy of seeing theres a gluten free pizza option only to plummet to disappointment as you actually eatwhatever the heck that cardboard is .

Can I Freeze A Gluten Free Pizza Crust

Yes, you can easily make your crust ahead of time and freeze it for later use! Just prepare the dough, shape it, and bake it for 8-10 minutes.

Take it out of the oven, and when its completely cool, wrap it well in two layers of plastic wrap . Freeze it for up to one month, and let it thaw out in the fridge before you make your pizza.

Gluten Free Pizza Dough Isnt Really A Dough

This gluten free pizza dough is not stretchy. This pizza dough is more like a thick, sticky batter.

Its ok that its sticky! Because guess what?

You arent going to knead this pizza dough. Nope.

And dont even think about punching it.

Youll have to find another way to get out your frustration.

After your dough has proofed, youl scoop/pour it onto your prepared pans and then wet your hands really well.

    Like, really.

Water is going to be your friend.

Youll keep wetting your hands to gently press the pizza dough out.

You can also use oil on your hands, but I find water works best.

    Tapioca Starch Is Magic

How to make The Best Italian Gluten Free Pizza Dough In the World

Tapioca starch is my magic ingredient for this pizza base. It gives the resulting gluten free pizza base its wonderful pliability and some stretch. You can buy tapioca starch in lots of shops , or even buy online via Amazon and similar retailers.

Youll notice that, unusually for gluten free recipes, I have not included any xanthan gum in this recipe. I discovered that tapioca starch eliminates the needs for it, as the tapioca helps with the binding. I dont mind using xanthan in small quantities, but didnt want to use a massive amount for this pizza base so was happy that tapioca cancels it out.

Aside from the tapioca, youll likely have the other ingredients knocking around in your kitchen already. Plain gluten free flour , salt, olive oil, dry active yeast and sugar.

    Pumpkin Oat Pizza Crust

This pizza crust can easily be made because the ingredients are probably in your kitchen already. You can rest assure that this pizza is delicious as it is healthy.Ingredients:

    • One tablespoon apple cider vinegar
    • 1 cup pumpkin puree
    • 1 1/2 cups rolled oats*
    • One tablespoon chia seeds
    • One tablespoon fresh basil, finely chopped
    • ½ teaspoon of sea salt
    • ½ teaspoon chili powder
    • ¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
    • Toppings: veggies, basil, cheese, and tomato sauce

    Instructions:

  • The first thing you need to do is preheat the oven to around 400 ° F.
  • Create your chia egg by mixing chia seeds with 2 tbsp of water in a huge bowl and start stirring. Put the mixture aside and wait until the consistency turns egg-like. This will take about 10 minutes.
  • As your chia egg is in the process of getting into a gel, you can create an oat flour by putting oats in the food processor.
  • Once the chia egg is ready, you may pour in the pumpkin puree, your oat flour, vinegar, and basil. Make sure to prepare the mixture in a container thats large enough for the entire thing, so you can mix them thoroughly.
  • Top your baking container with a parchment paper to avoid sticking.
  • You can create four balls of dough to make into a round pie, with 1/8-1/4 of an inch in thickness. Put it over the parchment-lined baking sheet.
  • Place the baking sheet in your preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes. When you see the edges turn brownish, its time to take it off and wait a little while to cool.
