Trader Joes Gluten Free Mixes
The other day I had an opportunity to check out Trader Joes gluten free mixes. I had stopped by the local Trader Joes to pick up a few loaves of gluten free bread to test for a future post about all types of gluten free bread. While I was walking through the store, I noticed a few gluten free mixes including a gluten free pumpkin bread and muffin baking mix. I also saw their gluten free chocolate chip brownie mix and their gluten free buttermilk pancakes and waffle mix, so I decided to get them all.
The best part about mixes, as opposed to baking from scratch, is how easy they are. You usually only have to add a few ingredients and those ingredients are usually things you already have on hand. They get bonus points from me if they are dump and go. This means you can just dump all the ingredients into one bowl and mix with no extra steps like separating egg yolks or mixing separate ingredients in separate bowls. That just leaves me with a big mess which defeats the purpose of using a mix.
I was very excited about the pumpkin muffins because Ive never tried that flavor and I thought they would be a good addition to our Thanksgiving dinner. The brownie mix was a good idea because its always important to have a backup brownie mix ready to go in case your usual mix is out of stock. I was excited about the gluten free buttermilk pancake mix because my son really likes pancakes and Im always looking for a better gluten free pancake mix.
What Does Trader Joes Ube Mochi Pancakes Taste Like
The mix overall produced great-tasting pancakes. The ube flavor was subtle, but there. I loved the chewy texture from mochi that still tasted like pancakes. I got crispy edges when flipping them and they had an interesting texture twist with the addition of mochi in the mix. We dressed these pancakes up with additional ube flavor to bring out the ube taste even more!
Gluten Free Seasonal Items
Just like Aldi, every season new Trader Joes gluten free finds hit the shelves. Everyones excited about the fall offerings every year, including this gluten free pumpkin pancake mix, and their gluten free pumpkin bread mix. In addition youll find their maple butter, apple cider jam, and new gluten free pumpkin bagels at this time.
Different seasons offer different items. Stuffing and frozen gluten free pie crusts hit the shelves last year mid to late October. At Christmas time, Candy Cane Joe Joes get restocked. Trader Joes Gluten Free Buttermilk Pancake And Waffle Mix
I have no issues with Gluten and I do not usually go Gluten free. But when I saw this Gluten-free Buttermilk Pancake and Waffle Mix at Trader Joes, I just picked it up without too much thought.
It was a Friday evening when I purchased the Trader Joes Gluten Free Buttermilk Pancake and Waffle Mix and decided to give it a shot during the weekend. As much as I love pancakes, I do not like making it them at home. That is one reason I am often spotted at my local IHOP and Dennys.
I did not know pancakes where so easy to make. At least this one is. All you need to do is add eggs, water, and butter to pancake mix. Heat up the griddle and cook. The measurements are all given on the packaging and if you follow it well there is no scope for error.
The pancakes form bubbles and look light and fluffy when done. The pancakes from the Trader Joes Gluten Free Buttermilk Pancake and Waffle Mix look just like the pancakes from any restaurant.
Now for the taste test. Oh my god! I can hardly tell that these are home-made or gluten-free. They taste just like the pancakes I have loved at the restaurants all this while.
The Trader Joes Gluten Free Buttermilk Pancake and Waffle Mix can be used in exactly the same way to make waffles. Just pour in the batter into a pre-heated waffle iron.
There is about 130 calories per prepared pancake of 4 inch. The ingredients are pretty simple and understandable. Nothing too fancy or hard to pronounce.
The Pancake Bread From Your Local Trader Joes Made Healthier And With All Paleo Ingredients Like My Go
I am not sure how many of you have tried the pancake bread at Trader Joes, but it has become quite popular all over social media. To be honest, the ingredients of the pancake bread from TJs are pretty meh and not something I personally want to eat daily.
This bread on the other hand made with all gluten-free and paleo ingredients. No refined sugars and it is sweetened with some maple syrup.
I am beyond obsessed with how this bread came out and how easy it was to make. This was also my first time using pancake mix for a baked good and not using it for pancakes or waffles. Now I am officially obsessed with making all things with the pancake mix, so stay tuned for more run recipes soon!

Trader Joes Gluten Free Mixes #3
The last of Trader Joes gluten free mixes, that I tried, was the Gluten Free Buttermilk Pancake and Waffle Mix. It was another dump and go mix but I didnt need to dirty the Kitchen Aid mixer this time. I needed to add just egg, water, and butter. Obviously, this meant it was not dairy free. Since the mix also contained milk, substituting oil for the butter would not help.
This mix was the biggest hit out of the three. I only made one batch so that if I messed up, I could repeat it. The one batch made about 8 small pancakes. It would have probably made about 6 large ones, but I find that the larger ones dont cook as evenly and end up mushy inside. The mixture was easy to mix by hand with my flat whisk. I never use a regular whisk for pancakes or waffles because all of the dry mix usually gets stuck in the middle of the whisk and I find that extremely frustrating.
These pancakes were a huge hit. Everyone thought they were the best theyd ever had. We were very scientific. We tried them plain, with just butter, with just syrup and with both butter and syrup. They were delicious every way, even plain.

Gluten Free Bread & Baked Goods
Trader Joes stocks gluten free white sandwich bread and gluten free whole grain bread. Many people declare this to be their favorite gluten free bread.
They also sell gluten free bagels. Not a fan of everything? They sell plain gluten free bagels as well. This fall they offered gluten free pumpkin bagels for the first time. Theyre amazing!
Gluten Free Dry Goods & Spices
Trader Joes offers a WIDE variety of pasta. Brown rice pasta. Quinoa pasta. Red lentil pasta. They even sell their own brand of boxed gluten free macaroni and cheese! I used their fusilli in my gluten free beef stroganoff and rather enjoyed it!
You can stock your pantry will all sorts of gluten free goodness at Trader Joes. They sell their own gluten free all purpose flour blend. In addition, they stock various mixes. Their gluten free pancakes mix is an old standard. However, they continue to add new products like their mochi cake mix and Fudgy Chocolate Quinoa Cake mix.
At this point, I think the words Everything But The Bagel are synonymous with Trader Joes. On top of the famous seasoning blend, they how have Everything but the Bagel smoked salmon and Everything but the Bagel yogurt dip. This is not listed on the Trader Joes gluten free list, however none of their spices do either. However, I consume this, their baking powder, and cocoa all without issue.

Gluten Free Cereal & Grains
Trader Joes sells many gluten free cereals. In addition to the Neopolitan flavor, they also sell Maple Ladders and Cocoa Crunch Cereal, and Crispy Quinoa Stars. Please note that their O cereals are not on their gluten free list.
I fell in love with this years ago after my first visit to Trader Joes. It contains no oats, which Im sensitive to. Trader Joes also sells oats specifically labeled gluten free. This highly popular Gluten Free Cauliflower Gnocchi is not specifically listed on the Trader Joes Gluten Free Dietary List. I have purchased this many times, but you decide. I really like Iowa Girl Eats tips on cooking cauliflower gnocchi. Trader Joes also sells cauliflower and butternut squash pizza crusts, which ARE labeled gluten free.
I have not personally tried these gluten free chicken nuggets. I know my friend Amanda of Eat at Our Table loves them, as do the rest of her family.
Youll find many Trader Joes gluten free foods in the freezer section. This gluten free macaroni and cheese works great in a pinch. They also stock a gluten free cheese pizza, and a gluten free Chicken Tikka Masala. There are also many other items, again not specifically labeled gluten free, that contain no gluten ingredients.
Dont forget breakfast. These gluten free toaster waffles are a steal at only $1.99 a box. They also sell gluten free frozen pancakes. I really love their gluten free mochi ice cream treats!

Finally Trader Joes has gluten-free pancake mix! I typically buy the gluten-free Bisquick pancake mix, and was excited to see that TJs finally came out with their own version.
Overall, its pretty good definitely doesnt scream ew, gluten-free and could totally be served to people who dont abstain from gluten. That said, I slightly prefer the Bisquick Gluten-Free pancake baking mix. If you dont have access to that, this TJs mix will definitely get the job done, though.
