What Do You Need For A Carvel Style Ice Cream Cake

First things first, you need cookies. Oreo style cookies. Since my son is gluten-free, I used gluten-free Oreo style cookies from Trader Joes. There are others out there but I cant vouch for them as I havent tried them. If gluten isnt an issue, Newmans Own makes a great organic Oreo style cookie.

Chocolate Sauce is optional but really takes this over the top! Whole Foods has an organic 365 one that is very affordable. You can use whatever is leftover to drizzle over the top!

Next up, you need to make some homemade whipped cream. Its easy and takes minutes. I include the instructions for that below in the recipe.

As for the ice cream, Carvel uses soft serve. I experimented with whipping the ice cream to get that softer texture before re-freezing. It does lighten up the final cake a bit and the texture is nice but overall, I do not think it is worth the extra effort, time and mess it takes so I say skip it and just use your favorite brand of ice-cream.

When we started dabbling in offering gluten free baked goods, we went with this flour but found that our baked goods were still a bit loose or dense. We found that when working with this gluten free flour, adding a little xanthan gum along with it goes a long way and really helps build that structure to give you more fluffy gluten free baked goods. Ended up long term going with the Bobs Red Mill 1-to-1 flour where we didnt need to add the xanthan gum, but whenever that one is out of stock, this is our second choice base on quality it produces. The texture is spot-on as well. The crust is thin but not too thin and has the perfect amount of crispiness to it. Its also sturdy enough to support all the toppings you pile on without getting soggy.

Make sure not to overcook it because that would make the crust hard and chewy. But if you bake it for the recommended 8-10 minutes, youll have a perfectly crispy crust.

Smell

Theres no funny smell to the crust-just the faint smell of sourdough when unwrapping it from the packaging.

  • Allow the Schär pizza dough to thaw for at least 12 hours in the fridge at 4 °C in the protective film .
  • The dough may remain in the fridge for 3 days in a row at 4 °C, without any loss of quality occurring.
  • If the product is stored at room temperature after being thawed, it should be used immediately and not returned to the fridge.
  • To this end, you should spread the baking paper out on the work surface, cut it into square shapes and generously sprinkle with flour . Cut the protective film with the scissors. To activate the raising agent, knead the dough with your hands for approximately 30 to 40 seconds until it becomes elastic.
