Grey Goose has announced the launch of Grey Goose Essences, infused with real fruit and cold-distilled botanicals.
Tapping into the healthier for you trend, Grey Goose Essences are 30% ABV, and contain no artificial ingredients, sugar or carbs. They are gluten-free. Initial flavors include: the bright and citrusy Strawberry & Lemongrass, the floral White Peach & Rosemary, and the dewy and peppery Watermelon & Basil, the company says.
Were beyond thrilled to debut Grey Goose Essences, says Grey Goose Vice President Global Marketing, Martin de Dreuille. Spritzes and mindful drinking have been growing trends, and with consumers increasingly trying their hand at mixology, we knew there was an exciting opportunity to create a distinctive liquid that would take the guesswork out of mixing light tasting and delicious cocktails at home.
These new products blend fruit with cold-distilled botanicals and Grey Goose Vodka, made with soft winter wheat from Picardie and water from a dedicated well in Gensac-La-Pallue.

Many beers are made from wheat and/or barley, and since beer is fermented rather than distilled, the gluten still remains in the final product. If you are a beer drinker, there are many gluten-free beers, such as New Grist, Redbridge, and Bards Tale, on the market these days. Other alcohol that may not be safe to drink includes wine coolers or flavored beverages, which may contain gluten.
Your question about grain distilled alcohol and gluten is a good one. While most celiac experts and organizations say its safe to consume any distilled alcoholic beverage because the distillation process removes the gluten from the purified final product, I have heard stories from individuals who state they have problems drinking any distilled alcohol, such as vodka, unless it is made from potatoes, corn, or grapes instead of wheat or rye.
I personally enjoy a Grey Goose martini from time to time, and have never experienced any negative symptoms from consuming Grey Goose, which is a wheat-based vodka. My husbands boss, on the other hand, will only drink a few brands of vodka, such as Titos, saying that wheat-based vodka makes her sick.
