Supplies For Packing Gluten

Gluten-Free Lunch Ideas for Kids and Adults

I do NOT recommend:

  • expensive bento boxes theyre usually too small for anyone older than toddlers and way too pricey especially if you have multiple kids as I do
  • cheaper plastic bento storage boxes Ive purchased at least 4 different versions and they all leak with the lids not snapping on or breaking after a couple weeks of use. They may be cheaper but its still a waste of money.

I DO recommend these back to school lunch supplies:

  • quality lunch bag
  • for preschoolers-elementary age, we love Lands End lunchboxes and this style from
  • for tweens-high school, my daughter loves this style while my high school son prefers this larger lunchbag.
  • generic plastic sandwich bags or reusable storage zippered bags
  • reusable cutlery
  • water bottle there are tons of options now so youll want to see what works best for your child, but weve had good luck with these styles:
  • leak-proof BPA-free 16oz bottle great for younger-elementary kids
  • nalgene 12 oz bottles harder to close for younger children, but have worked well for my kids 7+
  • 18oz Pogo were trying these this year, so far theyve been great

    Vegan Kids Lunch

Children with celiac disease can grow up normally and be happy and healthy. It takes pre-planning, either by verifying safe food will be available when they go to someones house, a school activity, a party or some other event or by preparing food that they can take. There are many examples of children whove never let the diet stand in their way from preschool through college.

The best thing a parent can do for a child with celiac disease is convey the message that the gluten-free diet does not have to limit them in any way. Being positive is extremely important. Kids with celiac disease often have a great attitude and deal very well with the fact that there are times when they cant have some foods the other kids are having. Usually, that attitude is fostered by their parents who make sure preparations have been made so their child does not feel deprived. Food is often less of a big deal to kids with celiac disease than their parents.

When she was diagnosed with celiac disease at two years old, I worried that my daughter would not be able to grow up happy and healthy. But shes now 27, and she went through everything from preschool to college in a perfectly normal way. We decided early on that the diet should not stop her from doing anything she wanted, and thats how she has lived her life. She participated in activities ranging from Girl Scouts to dance team, went to college far from home and studied abroad in London. Now shes all grown up and getting married.

Below are just a few of the many options from each food group to get you started. Include your favorites but also explore other options. Introduce your child to different types of beans, nuts, as well as fruits and vegetables.

    Homemade Vs Packaged Snacks

Homemade snacks, like raw veggies and homemade dip, are great because you know exactly which ingredients are in them. However, you may not always have time to whip up something quickly.

Packaged snacks are time-savers for making lunches or for something quick on the go, however, they’re not all healthy, many are loaded with salt, sugar, and fat.

Candy can have unexpected ingredients too.

Read the label even if it says gluten-free on the packaging. Gluten is found in wheat, barley, and rye. Some oats contain gluten. Avoid hidden ingredients like:

Instant Oatmeal For A Quick Hunger Fix

We understand that sometimes as parents, you might lack the luxury of time to prepare a lavish gluten-free lunch. For such situations, instant oatmeal from Glutenfreeda will help you stave off your childs hunger pangs in no time.

Add half a cup of oats, a cup of water, a pinch of salt, and microwave-heat the preparation for about two minutes, and its ready for consumption! Small servings of strawberries, almonds, and apricots will dial up the flavor for a delightful meal in a pinch.

Editors note: When it comes to oatmeal, make sure the label says gluten-free oats or the product is gluten-free certified. Oats are extremely prone to cross-contact, so even if the label says gluten-free, youll want to add in these extra checks.

Its back to school time! And this means two things the little rascals angels get out of the house and have somewhere constructive to go where they learn things like reading, math and gross jokes and it also means making school lunches an especially important topic if your child has allergies or is gluten intolerant. Here are a few tips and suggestions to brighten up your childs allergy-free lunch and keep them safe and healthy.

Kinnikinnick makes a wide variety of breads that are gluten-free, dairy-free, nut-free and they also have an egg-free bread. But no matter how safe a food product is, if it doesnt taste good, your kids arent going to eat it. The best news about Kinnikinnick products is they really do taste great and are widely available. Look for their breads in the freezer section.

What you put on your bread is important. Condiments can be a hidden source of dairy, gluten and eggs.
