Depending on the restaurant youre visiting, you may find gluten in a variety of places.

At fast food restaurants, there will be gluten in hamburger buns, the breading of crispy chicken sandwiches or chicken nuggets, some French fries, salad dressings, croutons on salad, and chili or soup options.

At other restaurants, youll find gluten in flour in sauces, in pizza or other pastry dough, and as a thickener in some soups.

Where gluten is found in the menu items will vary from restaurant to restaurant. Thats why its always a good idea to review menus from home, and see if you can find any allergen information before you get to the restaurant itself.

Being able to review nutritional information and allergen statements before visiting a fast food restaurant can be the difference between ordering something that you think is safe for your gluten-free diet and getting sick.

Being knowledgeable about what specific menu items youll be able to eat without any worries of later reactions is crucial to sticking with your gluten-free diet.

Egg White Protein Muffins

Ingredients: 3 ¼ cup Naked Egg White Protein Powder, ¾ cup cheese of your choice, shredded, 2 tbsp plain Greek yogurt, Water, as needed, Salt and pepper to taste.

Directions: Preheat your oven to 350 F and spray a 12-cup muffin tin. Place 1tbsp of cheese in each tin. In a mixing bowl, combine the remain ingredients and stir until thoroughly mixed. Use the water to thin the mixture as needed. It should resemble raw, scrambled eggs. Fill each tin with the egg mixture and place in the oven. Bake for 20-30 minutes or until slightly golden on top.

Dairy Free Ice Cream Or Fruit Juice Popsicles

OK so this is not an everyday snack, admittedly, but once in awhile, you just have to go for it.

After trying lots of brands, I am confident in recommending So Delicious coconut based ice cream. They also make soymilk-based and cashew milk based frozen desserts, but I havent tried them yet because I am too obsessed with the mint chocolate chip flavor.

No matter what brand you choose, make sure the container is labeled dairy free, not lactose free. Lactose free ice creams are usually made with a milk base, plus an added enzyme that breaks down the lactose. This will only work for you if youre lactose-intolerant, but not if youre sensitive to the protein in dairy .

If youre not sure what kinds of packaged ice cream are safe, you can reach for sorbet or popsicles instead. Sorbet and popsicles like Good Pop brand are fruit-based, and dont contain any kind of milk , so it is naturally compatible with a dairy free diet.

There are also lots of great recipes online for any flavor and dairy-free base you prefer, if you want to go the DIY route.

Well, first off, did you see the word tacos in the title? I mean, that says it all. And, then pair it with the most wonderful meal of the day breakfast and you have a winning combo in my opinion.

I know many people enjoy breakfast burritos, but finding a gluten-free tortilla that wont crack when rolled is difficult. These can easily be turned into breakfast burritos if you prefer, but Id rather keep it as easy to shop for and find ingredients as I can.

Does This Recipe Have To Be Refrigerated

Yes. Baked oatmeal needs to be stored in the refrigerator for up to 5 days or frozen for up to 1 month. Thaw the oatmeal one day, prior to serving.

You can bake this recipe ahead of time and then prior to serving, pop it back in the oven at 350 Fahrenheit for 10-15 minutes to warm. Microwaving the slices also works.

Vegan Butter On Gluten

I dont know about you, but sometimes when Im feeling sick or just not in the mood for much of a breakfast, nothing satisfies quite like butter on toast.

But this is vegan butter on gluten-free toast. I dont eat this often as theres just not much nutritionally to offer here, but it feels like simple comfort food sometimes.

Making A Breakfast Casserole In The Oven:

Egg Crepes with Avocados Low Carb Breakfast {Gluten

There are a few different methods when it comes to making a breakfast casserole. Most people choose between tater tots, hash browns, or regular potatoes for the base of the casserole.

I chose to keep it healthier with whole-foods and used diced russet potatoes rather than frozen bagged tots. The casserole needs to be baked in two steps, potatoes first, then the egg, cheese, and veggie mixture second. This way you end up with perfectly tender potatoes and a light and airy egg layer.

  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
  • Toss the potatoes with olive oil, salt, pepper, and dried parsley and spread evenly in a baking dish.
  • Bake the potatoes for 30 minutes then remove from the oven.
  • Combine the remaining ingredients in a bowl and pour over the baked potatoes and give a quick stir.
  • Bake for 15 minutes in the oven, or until the middle of the casserole is firm and feels spongy to the touch.
  • This is such an easy, versatile meal that is packed with protein, healthy fats, vitamins, minerals, and flavour! I also love that breakfast casseroles are great for leftovers .

    Use the base of this recipe and change up the vegetables and herbs every time you make it for extra variety. You can also try shredded hash browns in place of the cubed potatoes for a different texture.

    Next time I plan to swap out the bell pepper and green onion for mushrooms and turkey bacon, then Ill use my favourite dairy-free cashew cheese made by a local maker.

    Easy Vegan Tofu Scramble

    Youll need less than 15 minutes to pull together this vegan tofu scramble, and it requires only nine ingredients six of which are spices.

    Add some fresh veggies and vegan breakfast meat with it if you like, but for the scramble, all youll need is tofu, oil, nutritional yeast, and a bunch of spices.

    It doesnt get much simpler.

    Since the pan already has the starch and protein we just serve it with some canned green beans for ease. You could of course, use fresh and roast them with the chicken and potatoes, but Id rather save the room on the pan for more potatoes. Im Idahoan, if you couldnt tell

    Or, you could serve it with some other vegetable. A side salad, beets, or asparagus might be nice as well. Really, whatever side youd prefer, you cant go wrong.

    Its always nice when the recipe makes most of the dinner for you, so you only have to worry about a side dish or two.

    The Method : : The Shredded Potatoes

    I use a combination of white and sweet potatoes for the casserole, and you can see pictured here, that I like to use my food processor shredding attachment to make this faster. Im not a huge fan of the ingredients added to frozen hashbrowns, but if you have a good source of them with good ingredients you are comfortable with, then you should be able to thaw them out to use for this recipe. Id say shoot for a good 3-4 cups.

    With an elimination diet, the more foods you remove, the harder it can become. And honestly, it can feel overwhelming. Todays blog post is focused on how to go egg free and nut free, after already removing gluten, dairy, and most processed foods.

    Changing our food to heal is something that my family is comfortable with, and being gluten free and dairy free is within my comfort zone. However, it has taken time and some diligence. I have been gluten free for about 7 years, and dairy free on and off for 5 years. Once I discovered that I felt better without eating gluten, I learned to become more in tune with my body and how different foods make me feel.
