Pcos And Other Hormonal Imbalances

PALEO 5-DAY MEAL PREP

Dairy contains a high level of hormones and contains estrogen from the cow. Dairy also raises insulin levels.

For both of these reasons, dairy may be best to avoid if you have PCOS or other hormonal imbalances such as estrogen dominance. Going both gluten free and dairy free is a big part of my PCOS diet.

Im so excited to share this FREE printable Gluten Free & Dairy Free 7 Day Meal Plan with you!

I wanted to develop this 7 day meal plan to help get you through the first week of your new lifestyle or give you a week of new and exciting recipes to try if you are feeling bored with your current recipe collection.

I know Im always looking for new meals to try!

The first week I found out about my food allergies was by far the most difficult. My body was rejecting the food I was eating so I had to stop eating gluten and dairy immediately.

What in the world do you do when you suddenly cant eat the food youve been eating your whole life?

You cant run down the street and grab fast food or go to a restaurant and all my go to recipes and prepackaged foods contained everything Im allergic to!

Im not going to lie, the first week I ate pretty much nothing but salad and gluten free oatmeal. I was terrified I would eat something I wasnt supposed to without knowing so I just kept it as simple as I could until I learned how to eat this way.

Looking back on that now, I feel a little silly because there are SO many things I can eat!

The recipes I am sharing with you today are meals we used to eat before food allergies and with some small tweaks are able to enjoy again today.

These meals are always a huge hit! Even with the gluten and dairy lovers!

Health Benefits Of The Mediterranean Diet:

One of my go-to tools in practice is using an anti-inflammatory Mediterranean style of eating to support a variety of conditions. The Mediterranean diet relies on wholesome real food in a balanced not terribly dogmatic approach.

The Mediterranean Diet is a way of eating based on the traditional foods of the countries surrounding the Mediterranean sea and is best known for the following characteristics:

  • Abundant consumption of plant-based foods including fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seeds.
  • A focus on whole grains and legumes.
  • Olive oil as the principal source of dietary fat.
  • Fish, shellfish, and poultry are consumed several times per week.
  • Cheese and yogurt in moderate quantities
  • Red wine, sweets, and red meats are consumed sparingly.

The MedDiet is recognized as one of the best patterns of eating. Studies indicate that the Mediterranean diet may help prevent type 2 diabetesâ, can reduce heart disease by 79% in patients with established heart disease and appears to decrease the risk of several types of cancer by 13%

May Help Boost Energy

People with celiac disease often feel tired or sluggish. They may also experience brain fog, which is characterized by confusion, forgetfulness, and difficulty focusing .

These symptoms may result from nutrient deficiencies caused by damage to the gut. For example, an iron deficiency can lead to anemia, which is common in celiac disease .

If you have celiac disease, switching to a gluten-free diet may help boost your energy levels and stop you from feeling tired and sluggish.

According to one literature review, people with celiac disease experienced significantly more fatigue than those without celiac disease. Not only that, but five of the seven studies included in the review concluded that following a gluten-free diet was effective at reducing fatigue (

What Happens When You Go Gluten And Dairy Free

Expect heightened awareness and vigilance with regard to reading labels, choosing more whole foods when possible and ordering when dining out. Check labels to see how and where processing took place and to make sure it hasnt been in contact with other foods manufactured in the same facility that may contain gluten or dairy.

If youre eating a processed snack, like a beef jerky stick or a tuna salad ready-to-eat pouch, make sure there isnt any gluten or dairy within the snack itself and that theres no contamination, as shown on the label.

Be wary of ready-to-eat salads, tacos and crispy, roasted snacks containing chickpeas, broad beans and lentils. These often come with gluten or dairy containing sauces, spices and other additives used to flavor them during processing. Think: buffalo or ranch flavored roasted chickpea snacks or a black bean salad that has a green goddess dressing on it, which may contain Greek yogurt for its base.

As a rule of thumb, eat fewer processed foods and look for processed snacks that say dairy free and gluten free on the label. Its the best way to confirm safety.

Youll also likely expand your knowledge about food families and different varieties within. There are several kinds of gluten and dairy free foods, like nuts, whole and gluten-free oats and grains, seeds, vegetables, beans and legumes, to choose from, so dont just stick with popular picks like chickpeas, black beans, almonds, cashews and quinoa.

I First Tried The Keto Diet But I Actually Gained Weight

I believe it was from the salt in the processed meats, like bacon and sausage, and all the dairy I was eating. I realized without carbs, I was eating too much. So, I decided to eliminate gluten because I always knew that my body didnt do well with it. It made me super tired and I would get skin breakouts. I also went dairy-free.

With those changes to my diet, I lost 60 pounds. Then I moved to the 21 Day Meal Plan, which is an eating plan I developed that focuses on lean meat, non-fat dairy and low-sodium foods. Thats what ultimately got me to my goal weight. I was 137 pounds.

What Snacks Are Gluten

Snacks dont have to be processed, pre-packaged foods! Whole foods make quick, delicious, and cost effective snacks. Rather than reaching for snack packs or crackers, consider choosing:

  • Fruit and nut butter

If you do choose pre-packaged processed foods for a snack, be mindful of labels. Youll begin to notice certain brands that are known for being gluten and dairy-free. Snacks labeled vegan or paleo are often safest, but be sure to always double check and weigh the risks of contamination for yourself.

Remember to cook the quinoa before you use it for your breakfast porrige.Sweet potato is also delicious to mix in with your quinoa/tuna mix. Hey Andrew Im curious what you do for pre-workout energy. Im not sure what Clif and Power Bars contain, but Ive always used them religiously because its a great boost, and generally I eat them during the workout to sustain the energy as opposed to gobbling them down before. Im not diagnosed with a gluten intolerance, but I have noticed a very pleasing change in my mental ease when not eating gluten and think I am going to pursue it, but am curious about getting the fuel I need, especially before a heavy workout. Any insight is appreciated.
