Tips For Making This Recipe

Gluten-free cauliflower crust pizza | Recipe | Sainsbury’s
  • Use parchment paper and a baking sheet. So the cauliflower crust doesnt stick when baking it is best to put a piece of parchment paper on top of the baking sheet. You can also use a pizza stone to cook this crust recipe.
  • Dont over bake. You will be baking the pizza crust made with cauliflower rice the first time to make it solid and cooked and then the second time after you put on the tomato sauce and the pizza toppings. When you see the mozzarella cheese is melted remove the pizza from the oven.
  • Squeeze water from the cauliflower. It is important to use a kitchen towel and squeeze the water out of the freshly made riced cauliflower. You want to get out as much moisture as you can. Doing this will give you a crispy crust. No one wants a soggy crust, so be sure to get the moisture out.

Can Pizza Be Healthy

Absolutely. The main thing about pizza that isnt healthy for you is the wheat crust. This is loaded with unhealthy, processed carbs. Everything else the pizza has, like the dairy from the cheese or the vitamins from the tomatoes is perfect for a healthy diet.

When you make a cauliflower pizza crust, you are eliminating the wheat and therefore, you have made your pizza healthy.

SuperFood Cauliflower Pizza Crust

The addition of Chia Seeds and Quinoa makes this a powerhouse of tasty healthy eating goodness.

Healthy food is all the craze these days. And for good reason, life is hard, and staying healthy is harder every passing day. In America obesity is a huge issue. Our food supply is full of poisons, preservatives, and sugar. The need for ways to eat better has never been more important. This gave way to diets like the Keto diet, Paleo diet, Atkins, South Beach Diet.

Ive researched each extensively and can tell you they all work. But each diet isnt right for everyone. Like the Keto diet. I have friends losing tons of weight on Keto. It works. Go find an article online and read the comments section. Youll find people stating how they are off their meds from doing Keto. The diet is full of leafy greens, quality fats, and low carbs. The way it works is 70% fats, 25% proteins & 5% carbohydrates. If you need to lose a lot of weight I would suggest Keto. But for me, Im more of a Paleo eater. Think caveman diet. Pretty much eating real food and staying away from processed foods.

Top The Cauliflower Pizza Crust And Bake

Next, remove the pizza crust from the oven and add whatever toppings you like. Since the cauliflower crust is thinner and less structured than regular wheat crusts, it’s best to go light on the toppings. I generally use about cup sauce, ½ cup cubed fresh mozzarella, and ½ to cup thinly sliced or chopped veggies.

Bake the topped pizza for about 5 minutes, just until the cheese has melted.

Paleo Thai Pizza Option

The pizza pictured is topped with Thai red curry shrimp and 1/2 of a Dole Slawesome Mango Sriracha Salad Kit, prepared. Its a cabbage and carrot slaw with a fruity and spicy dairy-free dressing.

To make the shrimp, toss 1/4 pound peeled and deveined shrimp with 1½ teaspoons Thai red curry paste in a small bowl. Top the par-baked pizza with the shrimp, 1/2 cup chopped pineapple, and 1/4 cup red onion. Prepare half of the salad kit and scatter it atop your pizza. Garnish with 1/4 cup chopped cucumber and 2 tablespoons chopped roasted unsalted peanuts. Finish baking the pizza as directed in the dairy-free cauliflower pizza crust recipe below.

Things to Note with this Cauliflower Pizza Crust:

Yesterday I had the pleasure of hosting a cooking demo and meet-up at Williams Sonoma in Orange County and we made a bunch of these cauliflower pizzas with tons of varying toppings. I was cooking them up in the Breville Crispy Crust Pizza Maker which is a countertop pizza maker that cooks pizza in about half the time, as it has a hot pizza stone that preheats and cooks the pizza from underneath at the same time. I start this crust on parchment paper, on medium-high, I give it about 6 minutes. I slide it off, remove the parchment, add the toppings and put it back in for a minute or two. Done and done.

For those that joined me yesterday at Williams Sonoma for my cooking demo and meet-up here are the links to the recipes we made:

Spread Dough And Bake

Gluten free Cauliflower Pizza Crust Recipe

Divide dough into two equal pieces, keeping one in the mixing bowl and placing the other on your prepared baking sheet or pan. Cover and place the dough in the mixing bowl in the fridge while the first bakes. While you can bake both at the same time, for best results I recommend cooking them separately.

Using a rubber spatula and your hands, spread dough into a 1-inch-thick circle. Place the pan in the oven and bake for 15 minutes, or until slightly brown on the edges.

Next, microwave the cauliflower for 4 minutes. Then allow the Cauliflower to cool down so that you can handle the Cauliflower.

Next, in a large mixing bowl add the kitchen towel and place the Cauliflower in the middle. Bring the kitchen towel up and around the Cauliflower and bring to squeeze ringing out the water inside the Cauliflower. Take your time and remove as much water as you can. This is the key to crispy pizza crust. Next, add the cauliflower to a mixing bowl and add in all of the ingredients and mix well.

Low Carb Cauliflower Pizza Crust

No need to refrain from pizza on a gluten free diet. This low carb cauliflower pizza crust is delicious. Just add your favorite toppings and bake.

In my last post, I described how my 13 year old daughter refuses to eat vegetables of any kind. It should come as no surprise that pizza is one of her favorite foods.

I discovered a low carb pizza crust recipe made from cauliflower that is so good that I had to share.

This amazing gluten free low carb cauliflower pizza crust is a mixture of cooked cauliflower rice and shredded mozzarella.

There is also egg added to hold it together as well as your choice of spices to add flavor.

I’ve since tried other low carb pizza crusts, like the Fat Head pizza and low carb frozen pizzas.

It’s has to be good if my daughter can stomach it without fussing. I’ve tried other low carb pizza crust recipes before, but they had a funny taste that I just couldn’t get past.

I like my crust thin. So when making this recipe, I pressed the mixture down well. The original recipe post did not appear as thin as mine.

In fact, the original recipe states that the crust can be cut and served as bread sticks. I may try that next time. UPDATE: Check out my cauliflower breadstick recipe.

I should also mention that this low carb cauliflower pizza crust can be made ahead and put in the freezer for later. I ended up making two smaller crusts to freeze and one double recipe large crust to eat immediately.

It’s been a favorite recipe of mine for well over decade now.

Cappellos crust is also totally grain-free, dairy-free, soy-free, yeast-free vegetarian, paleo-certified, and is made from non-GMO ingredients. It contains 19 grams of carbs, 4 grams of protein, and 3 grams of dietary fiber. However, it does contain a higher amount of sodium, 430 grams per serving, so keep this in mind if you are watching your sodium intake.

This crust comes frozen, and all you need to do is add your favorite toppings to it and pop it in the oven. If you love a thin and crispy pizza crust, Cappellos is the perfect gluten-free option for you.

Toppings For Pizza With Cauliflower Crust

Looking for some inspiration for your next pizza night?

Of course, you can always keep your toppings simple. A little marinara or pizza sauce with shredded mozzarella is a classic for a reason. You can even throw some pepperoni on there if you like.

Personally, I love making funky veggie pizzas! One of my go-to topping combos is spaghetti squash, sun-dried tomatoes, red peppers, and mozzarella. What a great blend of flavors!

Or, if I want a little meat, Ill add chicken-apple sausage, gold beets, and herbed goat cheese. So delicious.

What You Need To Make This Insanely Good Cauliflower Pizza Crust:

  • Frozen cauliflower rice I bought the organic one from Trader Joes. I used frozen and didnt have to squeeze out the moisture either!
  • Eggs I dont recommend flax egg here, it may not stay together as well
  • Almond flour or meal I havent tested another flour but this blog post on almond flour is very helpful to reference!
  • Ground flaxseed a secret ingredient to help make the crust a little thicker and not to get as soggy
  • Coconut flour a must here! Coconut flour absorbs wet ingredients, which helps the crust not get soggy too
  • Spices I use garlic powder, oregano and onion powder

Is Cauliflower Pizza Good For Weight Loss

Gluten-Free Cauliflower Pizza Crust

Cauliflower pizza may support weight loss, but it depends on how much you eat and how you prepare it.

One of the most important steps for weight loss is creating a calorie deficit by eating fewer calories than you burn. Nutrient-dense foods, which are high in nutrients but low in calories, may support such a deficit .

While cauliflower is considered nutrient dense, eggs and cheese added to cauliflower crust raise its calorie and fat content significantly. Plus, toppings like cheese, sausage, pepperoni, bacon, barbecue sauce, and ranch are also high in calories.

Still, the fiber and protein in cauliflower crust may support weight loss because each of these nutrients boosts fullness, which may naturally help lower your calorie intake (

To build a healthy cauliflower pizza, focus on high fiber, high protein toppings to keep you full. Avoid calorie-rich toppings like extra cheese and processed meat.
