Nugo Dark Chocolate Pretzel Protein Bars dont taste like a typical protein bar. They arent dense or chalky, and they taste more like a candy bar than a healthy gluten-free snack. These bars arent huge, but they are filling with 12 grams of protein and 200 calories each. NuGos dark chocolate is made from cocoa butter and not palm oil, unlike most major protein bar brands. The added sugar is relatively high, so if thats on your radar, then its probably best to pass on these. It definitely explains why they taste like a candy bar though! They do contain 10% of your recommended daily intake of iron, so thats a plus!

Eat Banza Chickpea Pasta is all the rage, and for good reason. It tastes exactly like regular pasta, but its made from chickpeas, which means way more protein and fiber than your average noodle. Eat Banza is roughly $3 a box and has four servings, which means you can make a batch of it on Sunday to have for quick meals throughout the week.
What Is The Best Way To Store Rice Krispies Treats
I always store them in an air-tight container at room temperature for 2-3 days before they start to get stale. If you need them to last a little longer, you can refrigerate them.
If you refrigerate them, its best to allow them to come to room-temperate. If you let them sit on the counter for 30 minutes, that should do the trick .

Is Rice Krispies Cereal Gluten
Kelloggs Rice Krispies cereal is not gluten-free because it has malt flavor listed in the ingredients. Malt flavor is made from barley, which is a gluten-containing grain.
The good news is that there are several brands of gluten-free crispy rice cereal. The two brands I used to make these gluten-free rice Krispie treats are Malto O Meal and Natures Path Organic.
The Malto O Meal is a brand made and sold at Walmart and comes in a 36-ounce bag. This brand of crispy rice cereal was the closest to the traditional Kelloggs Rice Krispies.
I bought the Natures Path Organic Crispy Rice at Target, and it was a 26-ounce bag. Natures Path Organic cereal is made with brown rice and was a little different in flavor and texture than the traditional Kelloggs Rice Krispies.
Both brands of gluten-free crispy rice cereals made yummy rice crispy treats.

Target has a great selection of Gardein products, which are all vegan. All of their products are free from dairy, and are also kosher.
Target also has plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables to chose from, which are my favorite go-to, healthy snacks. I do wish they had more options for dairy-free butters and cheeses, but there are plenty of other milk-free options to shop from!

When choosing sweet snacks, pay attention to the added sugar content, listed on the nutrition facts panel.
The United States Department of Agriculture Dietary Guidelines for Americans recommends limiting added sugar intake to no more than 10% of your total daily calories, which is about 12 teaspoons for a 2,000-calorie diet .
The American Heart Association recommends even less, at 5% of total calories about 25g for women and 36g for men .
Its important to know that this limit only pertains to added sugar, not sugar naturally occurring in fruits, vegetables, and dairy foods.
How To Shop For Dairy Free Gluten Free Snacks
Luckily these days, there are actually a lot of dairy free gluten free snacks on the market, as well as recipes you can make yourself. If youre just starting to eat with these restrictions, you might feel a little overwhelmed though! Here are some tips when youre shopping for snacks at the store:
First, lets start with dairy, because thats the easier one. Dairy is one of the top 8 food allergens, so it must be listed on a food label either in plain language or in a Contains: Milk statement.
If you dont see any dairy in the ingredients or in an allergen statement, you can rest assured that it should be fine to eat. Just dont forget to thoroughly look at the ingredients manufacturers do not have to use the contains statement as long as it is clear in the ingredients.
Gluten is a little trickier, because manufacturers are not legally required to label for gluten itself . The Gluten Intolerance Group has a complete list of ingredients to avoid, as well as a handy reference card that you can also download and use when eating away from home.

We first looked at ingredients and prioritized whole foods and whole-food-based snacks.
These include snacks made from fruits and vegetables, whole grains, beans and legumes, nuts and seeds, and dairy.
We then considered how much of the following nutrients each snack offers:
- Protein, aiming for at least 3g per serving
