Thoughts On Wizarding World Of Harry Potter Candy Allergen Information

We will be visiting Universal in November. So excited! DD is celiac. Thank you for posting all the pics with allergen info. I had read somewhere that although the bertie botts jelly beans that are prepackaged in the box are processed in a facility with wheat, that the bulk bertie botts on the wall are not and can be safely consumed by celiacs since jelly belly beans are gluten free and not processed in a facility with wheat. Was there any allergen info for the bulk jelly beans on the wall at Honeyduke’s?

    What Is A Sesame Seed

Sesame seed is the seed of the sesame plant known as Sesamum indicum. The plant is an annual herb with foxglove-like flowers that produce pods containing edible sesame seeds.

The pods burst open with a pop when the seeds are mature. The hulls are removed as they contain oxalic acid. Unhulled sesame seeds are bitter.

The seeds can also be pressed for sesame oil which is also a common ingredient to use. Besides being used as a condiment, in Asia, the toasted seeds are used to make sesame paste, which is often used as a peanut butter substitute.

In Middle Eastern and Asian cuisine, the untoasted seeds are used to make your own tahini paste.

These Types Of Halloween Candy Can Also Contain Dairy

    • Butterscotch Buttons Most are dairy-free, but the rogue brand contains a touch of butter.
    • Caramels Unless they are specifically labeled as dairy-free or vegan.
    • Chocolate Unless it is specifically labeled as dairy-free or vegan.

    What About Vegan Sugar

If you live in the United States, you should be aware of why its important to look for vegan sugar.

Given that, we want to say that we did not verify the source of sugar for each of these products. We recommend reaching out to the individual companies if you need to know.

We stand from a viewpoint that becoming vegan isnt a quest to be the perfect vegan. In fact, in our society its nearly impossible. You can make the best choices you can on a day by day basis.

These Major Brands Of Candy Bars Are Widely Available Are Gluten

    Caption:

Celiac.com 04/21/2020 – We’ve had more than a few requests for a handy list of top candy bars that are gluten-free. Note that although some of these bars do not use “gluten-free” on their labels, they do list all ingredients and disclose whether they contain any of the top 8 allergens. If you’re a candy bar lover looking for a reliable source of gluten-free candy bars, it’s always best to look for bars that specifically marked “gluten-free,” however, many of the bars in this list have been consumed for years by celiacs without issues, and don’t contain any gluten ingredients. These major brands of candy bars are widely available, are gluten-free by ingredient and allergen disclosures, and deliver good bang for the buck.

Major Brands of Gluten-Free by Ingredient Candy Bars

  • Snickers Candy Bar
  • Hersheys Milk Chocolate Bar with Almonds
  • Hersheys Milk Chocolate Bar
  • Bit O Honey Candy Bar
  • Are Snickers Gluten Free

Snickers are possibly gluten free. This candy is a little complicated while Snickers do not contain gluten listed in the ingredients, they do carry the risk for cross contamination because their parent company, Mars, produces other candy that does contain gluten . So, if Snickers are produced on the same lines, they may not be gluten free. This might be why they arent certified gluten free by the Gluten Intolerance Group.

    When Is Sesame Used

You will find that gluten-free sesame seeds and ground sesame seeds as well as roasted sesame oil and sesame oil generally can be used in many different ways. When using sesame oil you will find that you use less oil which has health benefits.

Sesame seed oil and organic sesame seeds can be used in lots of different recipes, the oil is usually at the start of a recipe, and the sesame seeds are at the end. You can use seeds to make sesame tahini which is full of flavor.

    Candy Bar Crunch Bars Recipe

For anyone out there who is always left with the unwanted candy or chocolate bars, this one is for you.

There are two complaints I ALWAYS here from readers and friends in the Northern Hemisphere-

  • How come they bought so much Halloween candy and what to do with it?
  • What to do with any candy bars that are left in the massive pillow sack/potato sack/bag of choice their child went trick-or-treating in.
  • Well, friends, I have you covered.

I think its safe to assume that leftover candy or chocolate is leftover for a reason- They are the ones you would never purchase on your own terms. That, or they are the lonely ones leftover in a mixed bag of candy.

To use up these leftovers, you need to add them into something EXTRA delicious. This is where my homemade chocolate peanut butter crunch bars come into play.

My homemade crunch bars are seriously addictive and the most fool-proof recipe I have on here. To say that I am obsessed would be a joke. If you need some proof, Ive given them a paleo makeover, a kit kat makeover, and even threw in some Smores in there too.

You really cant go wrong with the addictive combination of chocolate, peanut butter, and crunchy cereal.

When you put something EXTRA delicious with somethingnot so delicious, youll be left with something worth waking up for snacking.

    Disclaimer: Important Before Moving On

While everyones dietary restrictions are different I hope this list is a good starting place. We go off of label alone, and only look at ingredients Of course, be sure to read the ACTUAL label before you buy it, as the ingredients may have changed since time of publishingespecially since holiday varieties are sometimes made differently than regular versions. If you need help figuring out labeling, FARE has a great how to read a label article.

*And, if you yourself do not have the food limitations and are buying this for someone else, please double check with them that theyre comfortable with it, and dont just assume. Theyve usually done their homework and can help you decide if that truly works for their individual circumstances. Dont just take a list off the internet as correct for every specific circumstance out there. And, also THANKS. Its so nice when grandparents, teachers and others try to include those who eat differently. As a mom with two kiddos with multiple food allergies, it really means a lot. Please dont be offended if we still dont feel safe to eat it, after youve gone to this effort. The effort means a WHOLE LOT. Hugs.*

Happy Halloween. May your costume rock, your treats be aplenty, and may you stay safe and healthy.

    Nut Free Buckeye Candies

A creamy and delicious nut free filling is covered with rich dark chocolate to make these amazing buckeye candies. You will love these allergy friendly treats for the holidays! No one will ever guess that theyre gluten free, nut free, and vegan.

Whether its the holiday season or not, its always a good time to make some buckeye candies. These traditional treats are often associated with the Christmas season, but theyre also the perfect dessert to bring to a picnic or potluck dinner.

Traditionally, buckeyes are a candy that is made of a peanut butter dough surrounded by a layer of chocolate. These treats are called buckeyes because of their striking resemblance to the nut of a Buckeye tree.

Of course, the classic buckeye recipe isnt safe for those with food allergies. If youre allergic to peanuts, dairy, or soy, the traditional recipe is a problem.

However, these buckeye candies are a great dessert to make if youre on a gluten free, nut free, or vegan diet. They dont contain any grains or nuts, and if you use dairy free chocolate chips and vegan buttery spread, they are very easy to make vegan!

I also made a couple of changes to make them a little bit lighter. The amount of powdered sugar has been decreased, but these are still plenty sweet. I also included some ground flax seed meal for a little extra fiber and healthy fats.

Do Candy Canes Have Gluten Or Dairy

Candy canes are a popular holiday treat, but many people are wondering if they contain gluten or dairy. Fortunately, most candy canes are free of gluten and dairy, making them a safe choice for people with food allergies or sensitivities. While the flavorings used in candy canes vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, most do not contain any gluten or dairy products. If you are concerned about the ingredients in your candy canes, it is best to check the label or contact the manufacturer to make sure.

The candy can is not known to be the origin of the candy, but some believe it was made to keep children quiet during church services. Candy canes are not made with wheat, barley, or rye ingredients. Because products containing gluten must be manufactured and tested, strict specifications for gluten-free ingredients are required. The use of gluten-free certified products allows people with celiac disease to enjoy high-quality food. The villi are the tiny tubes that connect the small intestine to the rest of your body. The villi do not have the ability to work with the bodys processes as a result of immune system attacks. We choose to eat fresh fruits and vegetables because many believe that our bodies cannot digest grains.

Why Having Gluten & Dairy Free Halloween Treats Is Important

Will having some gluten and dairy free Halloween treats create world peace? No, it will not. But, will it make a difference to one kid or one adult who feels left out? Yes, yes it will. And thats a big deal.

If you have to avoid multiple foods due to health reasons or food allergies gluten and dairy are often the first foods to go. And, its tough because it feels like theyre in about every.single.thing in the American diet.

If youre like us, we let our food allergic child still go trick or treating for the experience, and then we have a stash of safe candies that we swap him out for. So, its important that we know what safe store bought gluten and dairy free candies there are.

We also like to have a Halloween party, and sometimes Ill volunteer for their school party and its nice for kiddos to have a themed food they can make and enjoy that has a Halloween vibe to it too, which is why I included some homemade options as well.
