Best Overall: Cappello’s Almond Flour Crust Naked Pizza Crust

Kirkland Supreme Cauliflower Crust Pizza | Gluten Free Pizza From Costco | Costco Frozen Pizza

We like Cappello’s gluten-free crust because it’s made with almond flour, which is a rich source of digestion-supporting dietary fiber and heart-healthy monounsaturated fat. It’s also made with a handful of other high-quality ingredients, including eggs, organic coconut milk, cassava flour, and extra virgin olive oil. Cappellos crust is also totally grain-free, dairy-free, soy-free, yeast-free vegetarian, paleo-certified, and is made from non-GMO ingredients. It contains 19 grams of carbs, 4 grams of protein, and 3 grams of dietary fiber. However, it does contain a higher amount of sodium, 430 grams per serving, so keep this in mind if you are watching your sodium intake.

This crust comes frozen, and all you need to do is add your favorite toppings to it and pop it in the oven. If you love a thin and crispy pizza crust, Cappellos is the perfect gluten-free option for you.

Other Ways To Cook Gluten Free Pizza

Ive also used a portable pizza oven when I offer samples at gluten free shows. My favorite so far is the Presto Pizazz® Pizza Oven. This handy gadget is fun to watch in action and takes any guess-work out of rising and baking a pizza.

Another option is to simply cover a baking sheet with parchment paper sprayed with cooking oil and bake the pizza in a round or rectangular shape on that. Whichever pan or method, this recipe can make a thin or thick crust and will make your whole family happy.

Particularly when using a regular baking sheet though, dont make the center of the crust too thick or use a very watery pizza sauce, as it will be harder to get that part of the pizza nice and crispy on the bottom.

Smart Flour Foods Pizza

Smart Flour Foods makes a certified gluten-free garden margherita pizza. The cheeses are good and I love the tomato and basil toppings.

That said, my kids didnt love the crust, and I have to admit that I agreed with them. Regardless, Nima approves of this pizza and is all smiles, which is the good news.

Can I Use A Toaster Oven To Make Pizza

CALIFORNIA PIZZA KITCHEN Gluten Free Crispy Thin Crust Frozen Pizza ...

I have never used a toasters oven to make pizza, but I have used one to reheat pizza.

If you make this gluten-free pizza dough in a toaster oven please come back and tell me about your experience.

Banza Plain Crust Pizza

Banza is one of my favorite food brands that happen to be gluten-free! They make some of the best gluten-free pasta packed with protein and fiber.

Banzas pizza crusts are also exceptional. They are gluten-free and vegan, so everyone gets to enjoy a slice.

They make their crusts out of chickpeas a small legume people usually associate with hummus.

Each box from Banza comes with two 9-inch plain pizza crusts, so you can add whatever toppings your heart desires.

These crusts crisp up well in the oven or the grill if you are craving a smokier flavor.

Why Is It Sticky

This gluten free pizza dough is going to start out a bit sticky. We want to have plenty of moisture in the dough while it is rising to ensure the yeast can remain active, so well add extra flour to the dough just before it gets rolled out.

To help with some of the stickiness, we will refrigerate the dough for about 15 minutes after it rises. This will make it a bit easier to work with, especially once a bit of extra flour is added.

Against The Grain Gluten

One of our readers recommended the Against the Grain brand as a terrific treat gluten-free pizza. The flavors look fantastic, like Bacon & Onion, Pesto, or Cheese Jalapeño. They are fairly high in fat and overall calories, she swears the taste makes it worthwhile and lots of food editors seem to agree. You can find it in lots of specialty stores like Mercato and Fresh Direct, as well as some big box stores. You can also find this one at Wegmans and delivered through Instacart.

Kroger Extra Thin Crust Gluten

DiGiorno Introduces Gluten-Free-Crust Pizza

The generic Kroger brand frozen gluten-free pizza is surprisingly delicious and I highly recommend it.

After I first published this article, several people told me I had to try this pizza. I went to King Soopers and found the extra thin crust gluten-free pizza. I tried it and loved it.

The pizza baked up nicely, had a tasty sauce and generous amount of cheese. It, too, passed the Nima Sensor test.

Miltons Cauliflower Crust Pizza

The thin and crispy cauliflower crust pizza by Miltons is tasty, but Im not loving the overall flavor of cauliflower crusts these days.

Out of all the cauliflower crusts I taste tested, this one is the best. The pizza is soft and generously topped with cheese. Nima is all smiles too. You can also find this pizza at Costco at a good price.

Paleo Pizza Crust Ingredients

Previously, when I first published this recipe I used palm shortening instead of the olive oil that is now listed. While that works equally as well, a lot of readers dont commonly keep palm shortening on hand. We tested this with olive oil and love the results, so weve updated the recipe to call for that instead. If you know and love this with palm shortening, you can still go ahead and use equal the amount of that.

How To Make Gluten

There are two ways you can go about making your gluten-free pizza dough.

The first way is your typical traditional route. Just mix the flour, starches, oil, and water along with some yeast and knead until you get a well-structured dough.

The other way is to make a batter rather than dough.

I know this sounds strange, but if you make the traditional dough, it may become very hard and stiff when baked as the flours used are highly absorbent.

On the other hand, if you use a batter for the pizza shell, it will get a beautiful golden crust after baking.

To make the pizza crust batter, you need to add more than double the water. You need to add about 130% water to the mix. Shaping this batter in the baking pan might be a hassle.

Also, before you add toppings to the batter, you should bake it first. It may be a little annoying, but the crust is amazing.

Made with cornstarch, potato starch, olive oil and cauliflower, this gluten-free, vegan frozen crust is surprisingly crispy, anddare we say?actually tastes like bread. Best Cauliflower: Caulipower Pizza Crusts Plain

Cauliflower pizza crust has taken the world by stormand for a good reason. Cauliflower is a nutrient-dense vegetable to include regularly in your diet. A one-cup serving of cooked cauliflower contains 3 grams of dietary fiber and many micronutrients, including vitamin C, vitamin K, and folate.

Cauliflower is the main ingredient in Caulipower Pizza Crust cauliflower crust. The tasty crusts also contain brown rice flour, corn starch, and eggs to provide structure. This cauliflower pizza crust is a great option if you are trying to add more vegetables to your diet in addition to eating gluten-free.

How To Make Gluten Free Pizza Dough

Microwave the water for about 30 seconds or until it reaches 110-115 degrees Fahrenheit. You dont want it too hot or it will kill the yeast, but it needs to be warm enough to activate the yeast.

Mix in the sugar and one packet of yeast, stir together and let sit for 5 minutes.

Meanwhile, whisk together the flour, baking powder and salt. Add in the whisked egg, vinegar, olive oil and water/yeast mixture.

Mix together with a wooden spoon or rubber spatula until a dough forms. It will likely be a bit sticky at this point.

Cover with plastic wrap then cover with a towel and let sit in a warm place for 1 hour to rise. I like to put it in the oven.

After 1 hour, preheat the oven to 425 and let the dough sit in the fridge for 15 minutes. This will make it easier to roll out.

Add the dough to a floured piece of parchment paper and knead in 1-2 more tablespoons of flour until it forms into a smooth ball. Avoid adding too much flour, just enough until a ball dough forms and the dough isnt as sticky.

Use a floured rolling pin and roll into a roughly 12 inch circle. I like to keep the crust fairly thick, you will be able to get a larger pizza or two smaller pizza if you prefer it thinner, just depends on your preference.

Generously brush the top of the crust with olive oil and bake for 12 minutes.

Remove from the oven, add sauce and any desired toppings and bake an additional 8-12 minutes. Feel free to bake for longer if you like it crispier or shorter if you prefer it doughier.

Bobs Red Mill Gluten Free Pizza Crust Mix

Instead of a frozen pizza crust, why not try a mix instead?

Bobs Red Mill sells a gluten-free pizza crust mix that bakes into an excellent pizza base.

Bobs Red Mill designed this mix with gluten intolerant people in mind, as it contains brown rice flour instead of all-purpose.

I find this gluten-free option simple to make, as it only requires eggs, water, oil, and the mix.

Using a stand mixer is helpful when combining the ingredients, but you can manage with a wooden spoon and some elbow grease.

My favorite part about this mix is its versatility. Aside from pizza, some customers successfully make other dishes like cinnamon rolls.
